We stayed at the Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa (April 3-10 2026) and then upgraded to the Esmeralda, because it was closer to the beach and the restaurants. The room was lovely and the staff at every level were friendly and accommodating. What we were disappointed with were the 3 A-La-Carte restaurants. The Japanese (there were roaches running around our table and the food was not edible) and we left. The Indian restaurant was just as disappointing - the food was not edible - a bit of curry powder does not make an Indian meal and again we left disappointed. Now, we expected more from the Dominican restaurant and that was not Dominican food. We have been coming to the Dominican Rep. for over 30 years and we know Dominican food. The Buffet was excellent and the service even more so. The food was delicious and lots of it.

We just got back from Bahia Explore Punta Cana. Our stay was terrific which was made possible in no small part by the service and attention of the friendly staff!!

We have been to this series of resorts 6 times. This will definitely be the last. The food was subpar at the best of times. One night they had 6 rice dishes on the buffet. They used to have a carving station at the dinner buffet… we never say this once. They served bacon only twice during the week we were there and if there is a way to water down jam or maple syrup… they have found it. No fruit carvings as in previous years. We had a favourite small pool and the last time we there they had a bar. The bar is still there but never open. Limited selection of drinks. (No Tonic at all which if your drink of choice is Gin and Tonic… you are out of luck. The servers are great and I know it’s not their fault but wow we were surprised at how far this resort has sunk. I basically ate sandwiches off the kids buffet and even that was not good. One day they served Mustard sandwhiches. Seriously.

Dear Bahia Principe Management,I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding my recent experience at your resort. Guests should always be treated with respect and without discrimination, and it is essential to acknowledge and provide appropriate compensation when a situation has been mismanaged. Many guests travel great distances and invest significant resources to stay at your properties. Finding oneself mistreated, unsupported, or undervalued is disheartening. Based on my experience, I will not plan another vacation at your resort, nor will I recommend it to others. I expect issues to be handled with a much higher level of care and professionalism.

Prior to our arrival, I contacted the hotel requesting a simple room decoration to surprise my baby. During the booking process, I noticed that honeymoon stays include a bottle of wine and a cake and I checked this option. Upon arrival, I was informed that the room had not been decorated and that I needed to contact the Family Concierge. When we entered the room, there was no decoration and no cake, only a bottle of wine, which we do not consume. After contacting the Family Concierge and explaining that this was for my baby’s birthday, I was told that I would need to pay additionally for a cake and that balloons were not offered—despite the Christmas tree being heavily decorated with balloons for Christmas. Eventually, I was promised a banner in the room and a cake to be delivered on my baby’s birthday. However, only the cake was delivered, and the banner wasn't placed And I noticed that they placed one in the room facing us. This was particularly disappointing, as I wanted to take photos as a memory for my child. In addition to this, the room cleanliness was unacceptable and does not meet 5-star hotel standards. The room was dusty, and I found a cockroach, which raised serious hygiene concerns. Although housekeeping came to clean afterward, the cleaning was superficial and not thorough. I experienced continuous sneezing and coughing during the first night due to the dust in the room, and both my husband and I were bitten by something in the bed. Thankfully, my baby was not affected.Housekeeping issues continued throughout the stay. On Friday, garbage was not removed, and towels were missing, requiring us to contact the Family Concierge again. At this point, I clearly stated that I was filing a formal complaint.Service quality was also extremely disappointing. The buffet and restaurant staff were often rude and impolite, particularly at the Indian restaurant, where food was handled in an unprofessional manner.Furthermore, this is an international resort welcoming guests from all over the world, yet it was very difficult to find staff who could communicate in English. Even when I clearly requested English, many staff members continued speaking Spanish without making any effort to assist or communicate in another way, which was very frustrating. The food quality was poor, and the electronic food labels were not functioning. When I raised this concern, the chef explained that the system depends on the internet and offered no practical solution. Being told to “call the chef” each time to know what food is being served is unrealistic and unacceptable in a 5-star all-inclusive resort. On Saturday, after returning from the beach, my husband, my baby, and I wanted to take a shower, but there was no shower gel in the room. I called to request it, but nothing was delivered. After waiting 30 minutes, I called again, and still nothing arrived for another 30 minutes. During the second call, the staff member hung up on me, which was extremely upsetting. I then called once more and explained that I would file a complaint if the item was not delivered within the next five minutes. On Sunday, the day of checkout, we were forced to shower with cold water, including my baby, due to a reported issue. When I contacted the family concierge for assistance, I was told, “I can’t do anything for you,” which was very disappointing and unhelpful.Additionally, during breakfast at the buffet on Sunday, the server refused to clean our table until I became visibly upset. The staff appeared unwilling to work and showed a lack of professionalism.Overall, this stay was extremely disappointing. Instead of enjoying a special family celebration and a relaxing vacation, the experience caused stress and frustration, and we are leaving the resort upset rather than satisfied.

We stayed at the Bahia Grande Principe Punta Cana the week of 6-13 of March. The resort was amazing from the room to the grounds .We had a wonderful room facing the two pools and close to the gym.It is a very big resort but there are frequent little carts to take you around all day and night. The grounds were kept very clean with no sight of garbage. The dining hall was a little chaotic but you could always find a table and plenty of choices in food. The pool was clean and the drinks were plentiful at the poolbar. That week was abit windy down especially at the ocean so we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we wanted but the last few days were much better and you could always find chairs later in the afternoon. The wings at the Food Tryck were amazing we also got four al carts ,Greek, Italian, Japanese and the Mongolian was wonderful. All in all a beautiful resort with beautiful hard working people there. We will definitely be bad .Also the front desk clerks were amazing Valentina and Stylan.I also had a massage at the Spa that was wonderful also.No complaints. A beautiful resort !!

This resort is beautiful with friendly staff, spacious rooms, amazing food and lots to do! The beach can get pretty busy but we always found a lounge chair. The main pool is big but there are others to take advantage of if you want something different! I would go back in a heartbeat!

I stayed at Bahia Principe Tenerife in March 2026.Overall, it was a good stay and there was plenty to do for my little girl, which made the holiday enjoyable. The hotel itself is lovely and there are lots of activities to keep families entertained. However, the main thing that disappointed me was that all three of the à la carte restaurants were fully booked for the entire week, meaning we had to eat at the buffet restaurant every night. When we arrived, I asked at reception if we could book one of the restaurants and was told they were all fully booked for the week. I explained that we had literally just arrived minutes earlier, but the receptionist said that people download the app and book in advance. I felt this was quite unfair for guests who may not know about this beforehand or who have never stayed at the hotel before. Unfortunately, I also found the young receptionist quite unhelpful and a bit rude and patronising in the way she spoke to me. While the hotel is very nice, I don’t feel it quite offers value for the price you pay. There are also quite a few extras that require additional payment. For example, if you want to watch more than one show, you have to pay extra, and if you want certain drinks, like pink gin instead of the standard options, there is an additional charge.Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but there are a few areas where the experience could definitely be improved and I don’t think I would be considering to stay again.

Our family of 11, including five children (ages 3–13), booked a luxury holiday through TUI at Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal in Mexico last year. The trip cost over £30,000 and was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime family celebration, but it was extremely disappointing.Flights: We had upgraded to premium seats, but on the morning of departure we received a text saying our seats might not be together due to an aircraft change. This was not mentioned at check-in. On the plane, some family members were separated, and passengers travelling alone were seated between us. No staff helped resolve this, making the outbound journey stressful.Accommodation: Despite requesting rooms together over nine months in advance, our rooms were spread across the resort. All rooms were damp, required dehumidifiers, and our clothes developed a strong smell. Mini bars were not restocked daily, even with essentials like water.Special Occasions: We had informed the hotel of three birthdays during our stay. Instead of being acknowledged, we were allocated some of the worst blocks on the property. This was especially disappointing as the trip was meant to celebrate special family occasions.Food: The buffet frequently ran out of basic items within minutes, such as freshly cooked chicken. On one afternoon, raw pork was served. Booking à la carte restaurants was impossible for our large party, ruining several evening experiences, including on birthdays.Hotel Condition: While refurbishment was ongoing, the hotel was in poor condition for a 5-star property. Our room had black mould, severe damp, and even a leaking ceiling. Visiting a nearby sister hotel highlighted how poorly maintained our hotel was.Previous Experience: Our parents had stayed here the previous year and had a fantastic experience, which is why we rebooked. The difference this year was shocking and extremely disappointing.Overall, this holiday was far below the advertised luxury standard. Between the flights, accommodation, dining, and hotel condition, our once-in-a-lifetime family holiday was ruined. We feel TUI and the hotel failed to deliver what was promised, and we believe appropriate compensation should be considered.

My husband and I stayed at the Bahia Principle Luxury Bouganville Resort in La Romana, D.R. We had a wonderful time! It's a beautiful, comfortable, clean place, with well manicured landscaping. The staff is amazing, friendly, professional and with the best attitude you've ever seen! The beach is clean, with white sand and delicious warm water. The pools are clean, beautiful, with bars where you can get delicious drinks. The entertainment is great! Lots of activities to do every day. Highly recommended!
