Happy customer for 10+ years, support is excellent!
We have done business with HostGator for more than a decade, and while things have gradually changed over time, one thing that has remained constant is their commitment to outstanding customer support. While they now offer phone support, I find that it's sometimes easier to be able to link to webpages and make sure that both parties have the time to review and look over case details and such in live chat, which I grew used to over the years. Mohammed was kind and courteous today, and what could have been a difficult ticket with another company turned out to be relatively painless. Many thanks!

Long time user, no problems.
Leaving after many years, probably 20 years or so. They've been great for the whole time. Always able to resolve any issues I add or help I needed. Would recommend them for sure!

Relatively satisfied, been on HG for 20 years.
I've been on HostGator shared hosting since mid 2005. There have been small downtimes here and there but overall it's been very stable.My site is custom php and uses a ~2 GB mysql database. Performance seems overall good.I've always had SSH access so I am satisfied with the control I have since I can use ssh/scp scripts to deploy my site and do some maintenance.They removed the ticket system some years ago and while it is a little frustrating to use a Chat interface the few times I had to use it they resolve the issue.Today there was a small issue with SSH jailedshell access after they did a planned server update (which was notified in advance by email). Took 20-30 minutes but it was solved.The price did increase substantially... many years ago it was like 15 USD now its close to 30 but I guess thats the same everywhere.

Not happy
I was asked to mention the person I worked with, Karthik Shetty. That being said, I've been a HostGator customer for a few years now and the one main part I need to access (Cpanel) is constantly moving around or not displaying when I log in to my HostGator account. I spoke to a "Technical support specialist" today, Karthik Shetty. After assisting with my issues (many times where I was wondering if we got disconnected due to long wait times) and telling me to enable sound on my device to stay connected, which I found odd since it was not a voice chat, Karthik began trying to sell me services. Karthik tried to sell me an SSL Certificate for about $90 per year that I can get elsewhere for around $15 per year. I was NOT impressed. I did not speak to sales, I was there for assistance in finding the one aspect of the hosting I needed which they continue to move so we have to contact them and be offered new services. I'll be looking elsewhere for my services from now on.

Outstanding Support: Sathyadhar M deserves a promotion!
I had the pleasure of interacting with Sathyadhar M for the first time today, and I couldn’t be more impressed. I had a long-running email issue that had been causing me a lot of stress, and he solved it efficiently. Sathyadhar is incredibly knowledgeable, courteous, and quick. Because of this experience, I now feel confident seeking help through HostGator chat. He truly deserves a promotion and a raise for his outstanding service!
