I recently completed my Open Water Diver certification on Koh Samui, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organized, professional, and fun.A huge thank you to my instructor, JO, who was absolutely amazing. He was patient, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely safe and confident throughout the entire course. His way of teaching was clear and supportive, which made learning both easy and enjoyable. The diving itself was breathtaking. Clear water, beautiful marine life, and unforgettable moments underwater. Every dive felt like a new adventure.I can truly say this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re thinking about getting your diving certification, I highly recommend doing it here, and if you get JO as your instructor, you’re in the best hands possible!Mattias

I had a deeply frustrating experience with PADI Asia Pacific customer support. To be clear - I love diving and believe PADI has developed a great framework to get people certified. This post is not about that but rather their corporate back end. There were two separate issues with my account. The first was my name/details. I was told by Indi Linklater that everything was already correct in PADI’s system. That was not consistent with what I could see in my account. Then, after I pushed back, my details were quietly changed anyway. So instead of simply acknowledging the issue from the start, the experience felt like I was being told nothing was wrong while it was being fixed behind the scenes. That came across as dismissive and deeply unhelpful. The second was my eCards. I originally had three eCards visible in my account. Then one disappeared, which is why I contacted PADI in the first place. Instead of properly investigating and restoring what had gone missing, I ended up being told that another card was not really mine in the way I had understood and would also no longer be available. So I contacted PADI because one eCard had already vanished, and somehow the end result was that I was left with even less than before. That is what made the whole experience so poor. On one issue, I was told everything was fine until changes were quietly made anyway. On the other, I asked for help recovering something missing from my account and the process moved in the opposite direction.I do not mind paying for legitimate products. What I do mind is inconsistent records, obvious issues being brushed aside, and customer service that feels more interested in defending the system than genuinely helping the customer.PADI’s training reputation may be strong, but my experience with their account and digital card support was sloppy, inconsistent, and deeply disappointing.

Why am I being made to pay $58 for a digital card? All I want to do is have my certification digitised!

Great course! Lots of useful info. I’m just hoping I get to practice it all during my dives! To improve: Maybe updated videos and more up-to-date review of existing gear would be even better

Do you know they charge to put your existing qualifications on the ap? Charging for an e card? Too funny. Got my cert in 1987, my advanced in 2000. Thought the ap might be convenient as I start a dive master. Off to check out other companies. Further- The padi app is purely an advertising platform pushing you to sign up for further training, club membership, travel etc. The only practical part is the electronic dive log function, though it is manual and thus far I cant see how it would integrate into my existing dive software (garmin). It would store your e-card should you wish to pay for one for your existing qualifications. Given adding your qualifications to an app costs zero in overheads the price padi charge for that convenience is ridiculous.
