The Tesco Eating Area at Handforth Dean; more of an Ordeal

As a single person this is a handy, local stop off for me, and with a few improvements it could be presentable, but as with so many things in England, the quality just falls short. The food can take three quarters of an hour , even when it's only half full, a pot of tea holds one and a half cups (why not two full cups?) but the thing that has brought me to write this is the incessant and loud noise from the dragging of chairs, a noise like fingernails down a blackboard. Whosoever decided on the combination of floor material, and the wooden chairs, did not put two and two together. In other words, it wasn't thought through; nobody cares. Finally the chicken burger I had today contained the tiniest of meat, certainly not worth the +£8 I paid, or the forty minutes I waited.

Sort your website out, it is DIABOLICAL

I do my shopping online, the online grocery shopping on their website is more stressful than going to the supermarket on Christmas Eve! The site constantly crashed, is unresponsive, it isnt user friendly, if you go to your account and then went to get back to the grocery shop page its a minefield. I am incredibly tech savvy and I can honestly say that Tescos online grocery website is shockingly bad. They put all their grocery products in with tesco marketplace products so you have to filter out tesco marketplace everytime you search for an item. Its time consuming and quite frankly a frustrating experience all round. Im disabled and tesco bring shopping to your door, thats why I stay, otherwise I would be using other stores as their websites are EFFICIENT. Sort it out tesco, you made billions in profits last year, spend some of it on updating your website so your customers dont need to spend an hour once a week stressed due to your 2010 style and speed website.

Continuing home delivery issues

I have been trying to rearrange a home delivery order without success. I go online and the slot page keeps on fading in and out. I have tried phoning customer service but just keep on going round and round with their automated system. I have phoned the local branch with the same result. I have even visited my local branch who say there are no problems! Obviously there are. Should I just take my business to Sainsburys?

I endeavoured to place an online grocery order yesterday and i must say no gripe with choice but i have noticed quite an unethical aspect to this grocery company, you pay for a delivery and that is fine enough but the thing i find rather corrupt an in a way its a dictatorship if you don't spend a minimum of £40 they implement a £5.00 pounds levy charge, so you pay some of the time deliveries as much as £5.00 and they are then hitting folks with another fee, this should really be looked into and i feel Tesco are ripping customers off what about an elderly person who hasn't got their full faculties about them or a badly disabled person, this is very unethical and Tesco need to take a good look at their pracitces

Slow, slow, slow, slow slow

I'm a regular shopper at TESCO Scarborough, and to be fair, it's usually perfectly fine. However, today (Friday, mid-morning), service was very poor indeed. Only one checkout was open and there were five people with trolleys queuing. I don't want to use self-service when I have a big shop. Also, I was paying with cash, and service is now skewed towards card. The lady serving was fine. I heard grumpy comments from other customers though I kept my humour. There were several staff doing very little and a second checkout could easily have been opened. If this continues, I'll switch to Sainsbury's.

Danielle - The Super Star at Tesco Extra North Shields

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Danielle at the Customer Service Desk at Tesco Extra, North Shields, during my visit on 21/03/2026.I had come in to return a high-value item that unfortunately became faulty within just a week of purchase. It was particularly disappointing as I genuinely loved the item and had no intention of returning it. To make matters more stressful, I had also misplaced the receipt. When I explained the situation to Danielle, she immediately acknowledged my concern with a warm and reassuring smile. Without hesitation, she took the initiative to check my Clubcard purchase history and, despite the challenge, successfully located the transaction. Not only did she find the receipt, but she also ensured that I received a full refund, recognising that the item was indeed faulty.Throughout the entire process, Danielle remained calm, focused, professional, and incredibly pleasant. What stood out most was the grace and empathy with which she handled the situation. Not all returns are managed with such understanding, even when the customer has a genuine reason — but Danielle made me feel truly valued and supported. Her dedication, attention to detail, and excellent customer care skills reflect the very best of what customer service should be.Danielle is truly an asset to the Tesco Extra North Shields team, and she absolutely deserves recognition for her exceptional service.

Great in my area

I always have great experiences with whoosh compared to Deliveroo etc. They are very quick and frozen items are never melted. A lot of cheap club card prices and special offers that keep the cost down. Definitely my favourite for quick home delivery in my area.
