Nintendo shoppers are deeply divided in their ratings. The most passionate supporters praise the company's hardware reliability across multiple generations of consoles (Wii, 3DS, Switch) and highlight an impressive game library with strong gameplay variety. However, critics raise consistent concerns about pricing, aggressive intellectual property enforcement, customer service responsiveness, and perceived lack of innovation in recent offerings. Specific frustrations include multi-step support processes, missing items in special edition bundles, shipping errors, and the cost of re-released older games rather than expanded digital libraries.

While 72 percent of reviewers give Nintendo five stars, the 17 percent one-star rating suggests significant dissatisfaction centered on customer experience and value perception. Complaints focus on subscription service changes, customer support accessibility, and order fulfillment issues rather than hardware or software quality itself.

The games are good and the consoles work well. My main complaint is the pricing seems a bit steep and they're pretty aggressive with their legal action.

Marcus P.Mar 14, 2026

Had a frustrating experience when I had to describe my problem through their chat support. Then they told me to send more information by email, and after that they said a phone conversation would be necessary. The whole thing was a hassle because they didn't include the Sports game in the special Sports edition package.

It's like having the same drink flavor for two decades straight. Then they add a subscription service that's basically just a change in the formula so you're paying extra but not really getting anything new. Now instead of adding older games to what you already have access to, they're rereleasing them as separate products that cost you more. That's like asking you to open your hand for a drink and then charging you extra because the paper cup became too expensive, so now it's a premium item.

Not sure why I keep seeing so many terrible ratings for what's actually the greatest gaming company on the market. Even though some people prefer Xbox, I've gone through a Wii, a 3DS, and a Nintendo Switch without any issues whatsoever. It's been great and I want to express my appreciation to Nintendo. The variety of available games is wonderful, and there's even a ton of third party titles available on the Switch.

Christopher B.Jan 31, 2026

I don't get why so many people give bad ratings to what's clearly the top gaming company around. Sure, Xbox has its supporters but I've owned a Wii, 3DS, and now a Nintendo Switch and I haven't run into a single problem. The system works great and I'm grateful for what Nintendo does. The game library is incredible, and it's awesome that you can play titles that weren't even developed by Nintendo on their platform.

Mitchell V.Oct 22, 2025

This was really disappointing. I preordered a game along with some extra items but somehow they lost my address information and never shipped anything to me. I've reached out to them again but I'm not holding my breath waiting for a response. Next time I'm just going to buy the standard version from somewhere else instead of dealing with this again.

Gregory F.Sep 22, 2025

Nintendo seems obsessed with going after patent violations while keeping game prices way too high for titles from decades ago.

Brandon W.Jun 24, 2025

Really solid. I need to hit a minimum character count for this review so I'm padding it out, but basically it's just good.

Samuel K.Aug 7, 2024

Just want to say something about their support team. The supervisor I worked with was fantastic. He took my issue seriously, looked into everything thoroughly, and made sure I got the help I needed. He even removed the charge from my account. I'm really grateful for the care he gave me, and even though we spent about 12 minutes on the call, he made certain I was satisfied before we wrapped up. Thanks so much for the great service.

Ryan S.Nov 17, 2022

Look, I get why some people aren't happy with Nintendo. But whenever I've needed to reach their support team, they've been super helpful and treated me well.

Justin L.Sep 19, 2022

Got four Monster Hunter titles and they all run beautifully on my system. The Switch Lite does the job fine, though I wish I'd gone with the standard model earlier in the year. Just ordered the regular Switch for this December and I'm really looking forward to using it both at home on the TV and while traveling. Honestly, the experience has been perfect either way.

Kevin H.May 10, 2021

A timeless choice. I've grown up with Nintendo since the N64 days and now I'm playing on the Switch, and the craftsmanship stays consistently excellent. It's like experiencing Japanese artistry in gaming form.

Michael R.Dec 22, 2019

Been buying Nintendo consoles for over two decades now and they really do have the best strategy when it comes to the gaming market. Their game characters are unforgettable compared to what anyone else offers. My family and I all have Nintendo Switches and we absolutely enjoy them. Nobody else came up with anything like this. They really understand how to appeal to players of all ages and skill levels. The way their interface is designed is just so straightforward and intuitive. I'm loyal to this brand for life. It's worth noting that you'll find plenty of negative opinions online, but a lot of those come from people who had issues and don't represent what most customers actually experience.

This company is fantastic. I'm really happy with my DS and Mario Kart just brings so much fun to the table. Their shop has some amazing free games available, and they've got titles like Pokemon Clash and Goosebumps for just a dollar, which is incredible value for the quality you're getting.

Patrick J.Jul 13, 2019

Nintendo makes fantastic games for all kinds of players. Sony and Microsoft focus on a specific crowd, but Nintendo isn't like that at all. You know, the type of players who obsess over graphics and frame rates aren't Nintendo's audience. We care about what actually makes a game fun to play and tells a great story. Splatoon 2 lets younger kids enjoy shooters when their parents might normally say no to other options. Mario works for literally everyone. I'm a huge fan of this company and honestly pretty disappointed with Sony these days. It's wild to think people grew up with their systems because the gaming culture around it tends to be so negative.
