Harris Teeter receives polarized feedback, with shoppers divided between positive experiences and significant operational and service issues. Satisfied customers praise competitive pricing, free perks like cookies for children, and occasional standout employee service. However, the majority of reviews reflect serious concerns including long checkout lines with insufficient staff support, unresponsive customer service regarding billing errors and order issues, poor communication about out-of-stock items despite notification sign-ups, and negative interactions with staff members described as rude and disrespectful.

Common complaints extend beyond in-store issues to online ordering problems, such as receiving incorrect items and being overcharged without timely resolution. Customers also report frustration with administrative processes, including survey links that expire before the stated deadline. The recurring theme across negative reviews is a lack of accountability and responsiveness from management when issues arise, with long-time customers expressing disappointment after years of loyalty.

Great experience! They had free cookies for the kids and the prices are fantastic!

I placed an order on a Saturday and it was delivered Sunday. When it arrived, there were extra items in the order that I never asked for and they charged me more money than I should have paid. I've been trying to email them about this but haven't heard anything back. This company really dropped the ball.

I'd give this negative stars if I could. My last two visits were terrible. First, the store was so crowded the checkout lines wrapped around the whole front end and not a single manager came out to help or open more registers. Second, I ordered online and one item wasn't in stock. I signed up for notifications but got nothing, no text, no email, no call. I showed up expecting my order and was told they've been out of that item for days. Between awful management, a broken website, and terrible customer service, I'm done. I won't spend another dime here. This place should go out of business.

Got my receipt and was asked to fill out a survey. The paper said I had 5 days to complete it, so on day 4 I went online and the survey was already gone. Seems like they want feedback but then don't give you a real chance to provide it.

Been a customer for 20 years but today was really disappointing. I dealt with rude and disrespectful staff at the self-checkout and the store manager was just as bad. When my machine wasn't working right, the self-checkout employee started looking through my bags like I was stealing. I complained to the manager and got the same attitude from her too. Both of them acted like they were too good to help anyone and clearly didn't know the first thing about treating customers right. That's embarrassing.

Taylor at the Denver store was outstanding. He really went out of his way to help us track down items and even cleaned up a messy bottle for us.

I go to the location at Davis Lakes in Charlotte and several workers constantly smell like marijuana. I talked to the meat manager about it and he basically shrugged it off saying that's just how things are now. When I brought it up to the customer service manager, she said there was nothing they could do because of corporate stuff. I emailed customer service and got nothing. When I called, they wouldn't transfer me because it was lunch time and said nobody could call me back. Nobody ever did.

It's okay, nothing special but not terrible either. I can find what I'm looking for when I go in, and the prices are just average. The one bright spot is they sometimes have decent deals on produce, which is rare to find anywhere.

Robert K.Nov 20, 2024

This place charges way too much for groceries. Even the items marked on sale end up costing more than what you'll find at competing stores. They've also started putting items in smaller packages lately but keeping prices the same, which is pretty shady. The meat department is especially pricey even during sales. I've switched to shopping at ALDI for my organic meat, fresh produce, eggs, and yogurt instead. I can't recommend this store to anyone in the Greensboro area. I've decided I'm done shopping there.

Terrible customer service at the Indian Land location. They don't give you all the fuel points you earn. They had a buy 2 get 1 free deal on Coke products but when I checked out, I didn't get credit for that free six-pack. When I asked about it, someone told me Dr. Pepper was a Pepsi product which isn't right. The produce section had tons of empty shelves and the meat guys just looked at you without offering help. Got the wrong item handed to me. Tried to talk to the manager but they were nowhere to be found. This store is really letting customers down. Once the new stores opening nearby in 2025 finish construction, I'm taking my business there. Been shopping more at ALDI anyway since I can get similar quality products for 20 to 40 percent less.

Had a frustrating experience today with my groceries. After I got home I realized one of my bags wasn't in my cart. I drove back to the store and found the cashier standing around with another worker. I asked about it and she just said customer service had it, no sorry or anything. I waited around until someone finally told me to go grab my stuff from the back. The guy just waved me through without apologizing or acknowledging it was their fault. I get that mistakes happen, but you'd think someone would say sorry. Really let down by how they handled it.

Pulled up right at 9 for my scheduled 9 o'clock appointment to unload groceries at the distribution center. I honestly thought I'd be treated like second-class, but that wasn't the case at all. The security folks were friendly and the lot was nice and roomy. They even provided clean restrooms for drivers and working faucets. Very happy with the experience and I'd definitely come back.

Marcus T.Jul 3, 2024

Showed up right at 9 for my 9 o'clock appointment to drop off a load at the distribution center. I figured I'd get treated poorly, but I was totally wrong. The security team was really nice and the yard had plenty of space. Best part was they had clean bathrooms for drivers and working sinks with running water. Really impressed with how they run things. I'd definitely come back to deliver here again.

I shopped at this chain for almost 30 years and really enjoyed it. Everything changed when Kroger acquired them. The store quality has tanked with poor produce selection, dirty conditions, and an unpleasant overall experience. Selling to Kroger was the biggest mistake they made. I'm switching my grocery shopping to Publix, and honestly I'm moving most of my purchases to Whole Foods with my Amazon membership. I already buy my pet supplies elsewhere and household items online. The grocery industry has been hurt by these big mergers where the largest companies just keep buying out competition while their service gets worse even though they send out endless surveys nobody cares about. I miss when local grocery and pharmacy shops actually competed.

Most of the stores I've visited have staff that actually care and will help you out. They really stand out compared to other places in the same business.
