Food Lion Reviews
Food Lion receives sharply divided feedback, with shoppers expressing strong opinions in both directions. Those giving five-star ratings appreciate the store's selection and value, though their specific comments are limited in the provided reviews. However, the majority of recent feedback centers on serious concerns: customers report consistently poor customer service, including unresponsive phone lines and inattentive staff at checkout. Multiple shoppers describe uncomfortable or unsafe in-store experiences, ranging from aggressive customer behavior to staff indifference when incidents are reported. Operational issues also emerge frequently, including unreliable grocery pickup services, checkout errors that take excessive time to resolve, and cluttered aisles that create navigation difficulties and safety concerns.
The store's core service failures appear systemic rather than isolated. Shoppers highlight problems with employee friendliness and responsiveness, order fulfillment reliability, and general store maintenance. While some customers note having had acceptable visits in the past, recent experiences suggest inconsistency in service quality and management's ability to address customer concerns promptly.
I usually have good visits to this location, and I'm fairly certain a manager helped my mom and me once and was really nice. But when I checked out on my recent visit, the young cashier barely acknowledged me. I said hi first, and then he finally greeted me back. I'm not sure if he's just naturally quiet or what, but Food Lion, your team needs to step up on the friendliness factor.
I've been dealing with ongoing verbal harassment that's starting to escalate. Two people in particular are responsible, and I'm identifying one as Tony Hill. He's a black male, approximately 40 to 50 years old, and around 5 feet 5 inches tall. This is serious because Tony keeps encouraging other people who come through the store to act out, which is creating more and more problems. Things are getting out of hand and nobody seems to be stopping it. If something doesn't change soon, I'll be reaching out to news outlets and other organizations about what's happening at this location.
They say customer service is their main focus, but good luck getting anyone to answer the phone. And if you somehow manage to reach someone, they're not very friendly about it.
This was by far my worst experience with Food Lion. I ordered groceries for pickup during a snowstorm and when I arrived, nothing had been shopped. After I asked why, they apologized and said they'd do it the next day and call me when it was ready by 8:30 AM. I never got that call. When I called back, a staff member said my order was cancelled without my permission. Customer service told me it wasn't cancelled. I called the store multiple times trying to reach someone to help, and I was given conflicting stories. One person said it was cancelled, then another said I needed to call customer service to cancel it because they were too busy. I still haven't received a refund and spent almost two hours on hold with customer service. This was handled very unprofessionally from start to finish.
I shop at this location very frequently, and I had a frightening experience a couple nights ago. A large man told me I was in his way and then hit me across the face, knocking my glasses off while cursing at me. I reported it to the night manager who actually knew this person had caused problems before and asked him to leave. He responded with more abuse and refused to go. The manager eventually got him to leave, but Food Lion took no action or even checked on me. I had to contact the police myself to file a report. When I later asked the same manager about getting video footage, she acted like it was no big deal and said Food Lion would share it with police only after getting permission from their loss prevention department. When I asked how long that would take or if they had his name, she had no answers. I suggested they could look up a credit card payment if he'd paid that way, but the conversation just kind of ended.
The cashier scanned three boxes of frozen items, then did a bunch of adjustments that left me charged for four boxes when I only bought three. It took way too long to get that sorted out. The store itself has a lot of issues too. The aisles are crammed with freight, empty pallets, and shopping carts of cardboard, making it difficult and actually dangerous to navigate, especially for older customers like many who shop here. I've seen entire aisles almost completely blocked on multiple visits. There's also a stocker who's been vaping on the job on at least two different occasions. I've given this store several chances to get better, but it just keeps declining. The management doesn't seem to care about these problems at all. It's disappointing because it won't get better unless someone takes action.
The checkout staff member I had was absolutely wonderful. We had a really nice conversation and they made me feel special. It turned a regular shopping trip into something really enjoyable. I appreciated their great attitude and service so much.
I had an awesome checkout experience! The cashier was fantastic, super friendly, and made me feel so appreciated. It was genuinely fun talking with them while they rang up my groceries. That's the kind of service that makes you want to come back.
We made a purchase for over $200 on Saturday and somehow got charged twice on our debit card. My spouse reached out to the store manager the next day to sort this out. Even though we gave him the account info, he told her to just call the bank instead of helping us directly. When she explained that wouldn't work and asked for his name so she could escalate the issue, he refused to identify himself and hung up. We did eventually get the duplicate charge reversed, but as a fellow manager, I found his approach to be disrespectful and unprofessional. We've been loyal customers for years and expected better treatment in this situation.
Over a decade of shopping here has shown me that this Food Lion location is top notch. The team members who greet you at the door are friendly and attentive every single time I come in. The baking department staff especially deserves praise for their hard work, professionalism, and upbeat attitude even when they're incredibly busy. I truly appreciate all the effort everyone puts in to make this such a pleasant shopping experience. This store consistently delivers excellent service and I'm grateful to shop there.
I've been shopping at Food Lion for over ten years, and I have to say the service, staff, and management are absolutely amazing. I went in today and the greeters were there to welcome me warmly, which is what I've come to expect. They're such wonderful people and genuinely care about customers. I also want to give a big shout out to the bakery staff member. She works so hard, stays busy, and always has a smile on her face and treats everyone with kindness. The whole team deserves recognition for making my experience fantastic. Thank you to everyone there for going above and beyond. This store is a five star experience for sure.
Over the years of shopping at Food Lion, I've had nothing but great experiences. Their store brand items are reliably good quality and often better than name brands at a fraction of the price. The staff knows what they're doing, the shelves stay stocked, and everything is kept clean. I'm very impressed and would highly recommend this store to anyone.
I've been a Food Lion shopper for many years now. What keeps me coming back is their private label products, which I find to be just as good as, or even better than, the big brand names but cost way less. The store is always clean, items are usually in stock, and the customer service is consistently helpful. I'd definitely rate this location five stars. They've earned my loyalty over the long haul.
Why would you completely overhaul something that was already fantastic? The Food Lion online ordering site used to be so convenient and user friendly, and now it's absolutely terrible. You practically need to place orders days in advance just to get them delivered late the next day. Plus you have to type in all your personal details again because they didn't save them, which is ridiculous. I never thought I'd say this, but Walmart's system is actually better despite how much I've disliked it in the past. I'm sure you're going to lose customers over this change because the new system is just not good.
I don't understand why companies feel the need to mess with something that was already working really well. The Food Lion delivery website used to be great and easy to use, but now it's become a nightmare. You basically have to place orders way in advance just to get them the next day. On top of that, you have to re-enter all your information because they didn't bother saving it for you. It's frustrating and inconvenient. Even though I've always complained about Walmart's online ordering system, at least it's better than this new version. I'm betting other customers are going to start switching too because of how bad this has become.
