I've owned a few Herman Miller chairs over the years at different jobs and generally liked them. But when I actually needed customer support on one, I was shocked at how terrible it was. This is a three thousand dollar chair and I got the worst service from any premium brand I've ever dealt with. My first message with a simple question went completely unanswered. The second got a generic template response that didn't help. When I politely asked for actual assistance, they basically told me if I couldn't figure out the manual I should just sell the chair and buy something else. That's not how you treat customers. It's making me look at companies like Steelcase instead. I genuinely don't understand why a company with their values would treat people so poorly. I suspect they only want huge corporate contracts and don't care about smaller businesses.

Went into the store and spent an hour filling out all the paperwork since I wanted it as a gift. The staff person had no idea what they were doing and got basically everything wrong including the recipient's name. Never coming back.

I bought two Aeron Classic chairs for around one thousand each and discovered the warranty wouldn't cover the gas lift mechanism when it needed replacing. Their marketing really plays up the twelve year warranty and says it covers everything including pneumatic cylinders. But buried in tiny print is a three year limit on the gas lift. Isn't a gas lift a pneumatic cylinder? They charge premium prices but don't actually support customers when things go wrong. Save yourself the money and stay away.

Customer service here is basically nonexistent. I submitted questions through their web form and email weeks ago with absolutely zero response. By the time they might have answered, my purchase window had closed. The furniture looks good, but what's the point if you can't get help when you need it? We're stuck with desks that match our order, but I won't be giving this company another dime based on how they treated us.

Unless you're the most patient person alive, skip this company and save yourself months of aggravation. I'm sixty eight and I've never dealt with worse customer service. Orders take forever and their fancy white glove delivery is just three guys in a rental truck treating it like any moving company. I needed a chair before I got too much older so I went to Amazon instead and had a nice one in four days. If they want to compete they should sell on Amazon like normal companies do.

Update: Finally got my chair repaired after quite a wait. Parts took ages to arrive but they did eventually fix it. I paid for shipping myself since I'd originally bought it in a different city at a physical location. The process was frustrating but I got it resolved. Took a lot of pushing to get them to honor the warranty in the first place.

Initial experience was rough, but it worked out. Warranty claim got approved after I pushed back on their refusal. They claimed the damage was from misuse when really I just sat on the chair normally. Finally got the parts shipped over and the chair is functional again. Shipping took forever and I had to cover transport costs myself, but at least they eventually made it right. Not thrilled about how difficult it was to get basic warranty support from such a pricey brand though.

I have to agree with the other negative reviews I've seen. The furniture costs way too much and there's basically no support after you buy. The delivery experience was also terrible with their delivery partner. Won't be back.

The brand leans on marketing way too hard because the actual product doesn't hold up. Support basically refused to help with a return and told me to just resell it myself. That's the most unprofessional and rude customer service I've come across.

Got the Embody about a year back and sold it within weeks. It's just not worth what they charge. The biggest problem is there's barely any neck support. I'm at my desk more than ten hours every day and this chair was unbearable for me. When I switched to a leather executive chair with a padded headrest at the same price point, it was like night and day. Even budget gaming chairs under three hundred bucks were more comfortable. They rely too much on marketing hype because the actual quality doesn't match the price. I tried to return it and customer support basically told me to deal with it and just resell it myself. Never seen customer service that unprofessional and dismissive.

There's a real difference between Herman Miller's business sales and their regular store. I tried ordering something and they shipped it during a period I specifically asked them to avoid, which was their mistake. Then they tell me the replacement will take three months. Some reps were pretty rude and unhelpful while others made promises they couldn't keep. The staff doesn't seem to know much about what they're selling. This whole thing was frustrating and took way too much time and energy. Won't be going back.

For a chair that costs this much, the customer service is absolutely terrible. They don't stand behind their products and getting any kind of support is nearly impossible. I vote with my wallet and Herman Miller won't see another dime from me.

My Embody Gaming Chair is fantastic. It's a major upgrade from the used office chair I had for work. Delivery was fast and everything arrived carefully packaged in a sturdy box. It came fully assembled ready to use. When I had a question after delivery the customer service team got back to me quickly. It's expensive but your back will feel better in the long run.
