Meijer receives a largely negative reception on RetailCoupons.com, rated 2.2 out of 5 by 15 shoppers. The most common complaints center on pharmacy service issues (particularly problems with prescription refills since discontinuing their app), messy store conditions with scattered inventory, lack of available shopping carts and baskets, and concerns about staff and management conduct. Shoppers report frustration with customer service responsiveness and report instances of product quality issues such as moldy items on shelves. A smaller group of reviewers (approximately 27 percent) express satisfaction, though their specific praise is not detailed in recent feedback.

Stores appear to struggle with operational consistency and maintenance. Reviewers describe dirty floors, disorganized aisles, and insufficient shopping equipment, alongside pharmacy system failures that delay prescription processing. Several shoppers note dissatisfaction with how management and staff interact with customers, with particular concerns raised about treatment of customers with disabilities. The gap between positive and negative experiences is substantial, with most recent detailed feedback focusing on service breakdowns rather than store strengths.

On Easter Sunday at the Tittabassee location in Saginaw, things were different. When I arrived at the grocery entrance, there were zero small carts available. The red shopping baskets were missing too. There was one lonely basket, but it wouldn't come out of its holder so I had to drag it with me. I mentioned this to a manager and he seemed completely oblivious to the problem, just wandering around the produce section with no clue. When I finished checking out, suddenly there were roughly ten red baskets sitting by the exit. This looks intentional, like management hides the smaller carts and baskets on holidays and weekends to force shoppers into the big carts. That's pretty ridiculous. Also no greeter on duty, which I normally see here.

I was browsing the frozen section looking for a cake and noticed one sitting there completely covered in fuzzy mold. Pretty gross.

Terrible experience. The floor is messy with stock sitting scattered around the aisles everywhere. The workers are incompetent. Management treats customers like criminals and has zero respect for people with disabilities. It's clear they couldn't care less about serving certain groups of customers.

I'm incredibly frustrated with the pharmacy here ever since they discontinued their app. Getting prescriptions refilled takes forever now, sometimes multiple days. Did they actually test this new system before rolling it out? The refill process is practically unusable and keeps throwing errors. When I submit one refill, the others fail. My doctor has to be just as annoyed since I used to submit everything on schedule monthly and now it's dragging on. Who has time to visit the pharmacy multiple days in a row? And now I'm stuck calling to get my kid's medications refilled at all. What company thinks removing an app in 2024 is smart? Look, the pharmacy staff themselves are great and I feel bad they're bombarded with complaints daily about something management created. Please bring back the app or you'll lose customers. For real.

Completely unacceptable as a business. The staff and management approach everything from the top down, which tells you everything you need to know about the leadership quality.

Stephen R.Sep 17, 2025

This company is absolutely shameful. The way management and staff conduct themselves speaks volumes about the people running things from the top down, and none of it is good.

Rachel T.Sep 6, 2025

I will not be returning to this store. The way this company operates is truly repulsive, and I sincerely hope they face serious consequences for their actions.

Christopher V.Aug 31, 2025

I was appalled by how management treated someone with disabilities at this location. Hopefully the company faces real consequences for what happened. That manager's personal bias shouldn't have gone unchecked by corporate, and frankly, this situation could end up in legal trouble.

Thomas N.Aug 29, 2025

The staff, particularly managers, are rude and dismissive. They show no compassion and display discriminatory attitudes toward customers with disabilities.

Jason P.Aug 22, 2025

I picked up a fruit cup to buy it and suddenly got accused of shoplifting. They brought police in and I was arrested. I'm done shopping there for good.

Jennifer L.Aug 21, 2025

Management here is revolting. The CEO is equally terrible. I'd steer clear of this place entirely.

Big shout out to Paul and Mary working at the local store. As someone who likes to shop early, I really appreciated them helping me grab what I needed before the fish counter even opened at 9am. Since I'm always there when the doors unlock at 6, it made such a difference not having to wait around. Thanks so much for going the extra mile.

The Benton Harbor location has reintroduced baggers, and I have to say it's wonderful. I much prefer having my items bagged properly instead of just tossed into those carousel things. It's reassuring to see exactly what I'm buying and know I won't accidentally leave anything behind. Kudos to Meijer for this!

Brian C.Dec 17, 2020

I don't usually leave reviews at grocery stores, but today absolutely deserved one. After a grueling shift at work, my wife, kids and I rushed to Meijer for a quick shopping trip. I grabbed what looked like my card from the register counter. I finished checkout with a couple hundred dollars worth of groceries and diapers, and discovered the card was short about $10. I was mortified and tried to return something, but the manager said they'd need to reverse the entire charge. I stopped them because if my card is already maxed out and they put the hold back on, the second payment would definitely fail. I messed up not bringing a backup card, but I was stuck. After an uncomfortable moment, the cashier named Schynitha quietly excused herself, walked over and used her own credit card to cover the remaining amount.

I'm absolutely hooked on using Meijer's pickup service. The team members who gather your items are fantastic and really know what they're doing. Just place your order online, swing by to grab it, and you're all set. They handle fresh produce selection exceptionally well too. This is honestly the only shopping service I'd ever recommend to anyone.
