Pep Boys Savings Hacks

Stack seasonal tire sales with codes

Tire prices often drop during seasonal transitions (spring and fall). Search RetailCoupons.com for current Pep Boys codes and apply them to already discounted tire inventory for additional savings on larger purchases.

Check for mail in rebates

Many auto parts and tire manufacturers offer mail in rebates on specific products. Combine these rebates with Pep Boys coupon codes to maximize your total savings on qualifying items.

Buy batteries before winter

Retailers often discount batteries in late fall before peak demand season. Watch RetailCoupons.com for November and December promotions on batteries, then apply available codes at checkout.

Monitor the deals list regularly

Pep Boys runs rotating promotions throughout the year. Check back to RetailCoupons.com often, especially around holiday weekends and seasonal vehicle maintenance periods, to catch time limited offers.

Pep Boys Shipping Policy

Pep Boys offers both standard shipping and expedited options for online orders, with delivery times varying by location and item availability. Some items may qualify for faster shipping, while others such as large tire sets may require special handling. Review the shipping details provided at checkout for your specific items and address.

Pep Boys Returns & Refund Policy

Pep Boys typically allows returns within a standard window for most unopened, unused merchandise with a receipt or proof of purchase. Certain items such as tires or custom ordered parts may have different return policies or restocking fees. Contact Pep Boys customer service or review your order confirmation for specific return terms applicable to your purchase.

Pep Boys receives sharply divided ratings, with shoppers either highly satisfied or deeply frustrated. Positive reviews highlight individual staff members who go above and beyond, such as technicians willing to work with customers on pricing and budgeting. However, the overwhelming majority of negative feedback centers on severe operational failures: appointments taking multiple times longer than quoted, work starting late or not at all, unauthorized parts orders, and basic disrespect for customer vehicles (such as moving cars unnecessarily, adjusting radio stations, and leaving windows down in rain). Staffing shortages appear to be a recurring issue, with customers reporting that essential departments like tire service operate with insufficient personnel.

Common complaints suggest systemic problems with service delivery, wait times, and communication rather than quality of work itself. Multiple customers report booking appointments in advance only to experience extreme delays or discover technicians have quit, leaving them unable to complete promised services. The pattern indicates inconsistent management, inadequate staff levels, and a lack of accountability for quoted timeframes. While exceptional individual service occasionally occurs, the frequency and severity of negative experiences suggest potential reliability concerns for customers planning service at Pep Boys.

Took my car to Pep Boys and they spent over a week just looking at it without figuring out what was wrong. While they were trying to diagnose the problem, they started ordering parts without even asking me first. They kept charging me for work even though nobody seemed to be actually working on it. Every time I called they had some excuse about waiting for something. They'd say it would be ready soon, then go silent. When I'd call back, they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and treated me like I was clueless. This was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a repair shop. Spent over $2,000 just to be told they don't know what's wrong, and I still had to pay all of it.

Booked an appointment for an oil change and spent an hour and a half waiting with just a couple other people in the waiting room. While they had my car, they moved it a short distance around the lot, switched my radio to a different station, and left my window down while it was raining outside. You'd think basic respect for someone's vehicle would be standard. I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Wasn't sure I could afford four new tires, but Shaun stepped up and worked with me to get a price that actually fit my budget. Really appreciated the willingness to help out.

Had an appointment to install four tires. They said it would take an hour. I ended up being there from 12:30 in the afternoon until 6:30 at night. That's completely unreasonable. Definitely would not recommend this place for tire work.

Purchased tires from this location and scheduled a rotation appointment well in advance. When I showed up, I was told their tire technician had quit and they couldn't do the work. That's basically their whole business. They only have one person doing tires? I've been a loyal customer for years, but the quality has gone downhill recently. We won't be coming back. There are much better tire shops out there now. Honestly wouldn't be upset to see this place close down.

Went to a local Pep Boys for a scheduled tire replacement appointment. Dropped my car off early at 1 PM for a quick 30-minute job, but nobody even started working on it. When I called at 4:45 to check on my car, I was told it wouldn't be done until the next day. I had made the appointment two days ahead of time and explained I needed the vehicle first thing in the morning. The technician basically said the appointment system doesn't matter and wasn't sorry about it. This was really frustrating. Nobody bothered to mention any of this when I dropped the car off. I expect appointments to actually mean something, and customers deserve respect for their time.

I would give zero stars if I could. A local Pep Boys location did brake service on my father's truck for over $1,500 and returned it in a dangerous condition. Less than 50 miles away, the brakes failed again on the highway with severe shaking and dragging. My father had to get it towed to another shop for another $950, which the first location promised to reimburse but never did. The second shop charged an additional $665 for more repairs that still didn't solve the problem. An independent inspection later revealed a missing caliper bolt, a critical safety failure that could have caused an accident, plus warped rotors that were almost brand new. The regional manager admitted the first location was responsible, but corporate Pep Boys has completely ignored requests for reimbursement or acknowledgment of the dangerous work. My father's safety clearly didn't matter to them. We're out over $3,000 for work that was done improperly and put his life at risk. If you care about your safety and your wallet, go somewhere else.

Pep Boys diagnosed my car's issue incorrectly and replaced the lower ball joints for $1,500, but the problem of the car wobbling never went away. I took it to another shop and found out the real issue was two bent front axles. That shop also found a really worn tie-rod end that needed fixing, which Pep Boys completely missed. I'd recommend going to shops that have been in business for decades if you want real expertise. After I complained, someone from Pep Boys emailed me and a staff member called. She was dismissive and rude, acting like I was the one who should have known what was wrong with my car. She was confrontational from the start when I dropped off the vehicle. I would've let this go if they'd just owned up to the mistake, but instead they blamed me and made it worse.

Had a really bad experience at a Pep Boys location. I bought two new tires in August along with the Road Hazard Warranty for protection and repairs. Several months later, one tire got damaged so I brought it back. Instead of honoring the warranty and replacing the tire, they just patched it up as a temporary fix. Now the tire pressure sensor on that wheel isn't working, and it was fine before they touched it. I paid for that warranty expecting quality work and some peace of mind, but instead got a patch job, a broken sensor, and zero help. When I called to complain, they didn't really care and didn't offer any solution. If you're thinking about buying tires or a warranty from this place, I'd say skip it. They don't stand behind their work and they don't care about making things right with customers. Find somewhere that actually values your business.

Visited a local Pep Boys for service and had a terrible time. I had an 8:30 AM appointment scheduled. After sitting for 20 minutes, I asked when they'd work on my car. Turns out the technician wasn't even there yet and wouldn't be in for another 10 or 15 minutes. What should have been a simple oil change with an appointment ended up taking over an hour. A few days later, my battery died while I was out with my young grandson, stranding us in a parking lot. When I called the shop to ask about their courtesy inspection, they said they check fluids, tire tread, and battery. My battery was already failing at the time of service and my fluid levels were low, but nobody told me. The manager said they should have topped off the fluids as part of the service. After I called to complain, he was really rude and unprofessional and hung up on me. He texted me later with the inspection report showing the battery needed attention, but they never mentioned any of this when I picked up my car. The manager did nothing to fix this poor service.

The service I received was absolutely terrible. The staff was aggressive, loud, and used excessive profanity. They weren't willing to work with me or be reasonable. I left and took my $2,000 to a different tire shop. I won't go back and I'm going to tell everyone I know about how bad this place is.

Roberto M.Feb 27, 2025

Ordered 4 tires over a month ago and still haven't received them. It's frustrating dealing with this location. Won't be shopping there again and definitely won't recommend it to others.

Visited my local Pep Boys and something felt off. The ownership has changed hands a few times lately, and I decided to check things out. Turns out I was right to be suspicious. Got a quote for $1,300 worth of sketchy repairs. Went to the shop next door and they said my brakes and rotors are fine. Squeaky ceramic brakes are totally normal. I didn't need any of those other repairs they were pushing. Plus, I just had brakes done there six months ago and they wanted to replace one of those too. Used to trust this place for 15 years under the old owners, but things really deteriorated. Makes me wonder what they try to sell to customers who don't know as much about cars.

Emily R.Jan 13, 2025

This place isn't what it seems. Their prices are higher than competitors, and they'll push you to buy work you don't actually need. You can't even be sure they'll actually do the work they charge you for unless you take it somewhere else to be inspected. Good luck getting a refund if something's wrong. I don't trust anything they tell me anymore, and neither should you.

Patricia M.Nov 26, 2024

This is honestly the best tire shop I've ever worked with. Definitely recommend them and will be back. Everything went smoothly and I couldn't be happier with the service.
