We ordered two pairs of boots totaling $300 from their website on Saturday. We got an email confirming the order would arrive Wednesday. We were home all day Wednesday waiting for it and nothing showed up. When we called to check on it, we learned our order had been cancelled. Nobody ever emailed us to let us know or explain why. That's it for us and REI. We're done shopping there for good. Be careful before ordering from them.

Got a gift card for my birthday but it ran out of time before I had a chance to use it. I think if they're going to sell these cards, they really ought to give people more time before they expire.

As a longtime customer and member of REI for what's probably been around 50 years, my experience has been mostly very positive. We shop both in stores and online. The store in Bedford, NH is particularly excellent. The bike shop manager in Conway, NH didn't seem very motivated when delivering a bicycle that cost over $3,000. The Reading, MA location has been great with helpful staff. My least favorite has been the Boston, MA store, where I've found the staff unfriendly and not focused on customers. I'm not entirely sure why Boston closed, but my sense is the staff and management there weren't really invested in keeping it going. That location should have been hugely successful with all the universities nearby, plus with competitors like Ski Market and Eastern Mountain Sports having closed down, and so many colleges and hospitals in the area. There's plenty of athletes and outdoor lovers with money to spend around there. That said, we really like a lot of their products, and what really stands out to us is their return policy. We actually make a special effort to shop at REI because of it, since it's way better than what LL Bean offers. The annual rebate we get as Co-Op members is the cherry on top.

I placed an order for a jacket on 11/24 using a 20% off coupon. It got here on 11/28, and the next day I noticed they were running a 25% off promotion. Rather than going through the hassle of returning and reordering, I sent them an email that same day asking if they'd just credit me the difference of about $7.48 to my account. I ended up sending three emails over the next week and never got a single response. When they finally got their chat support back online, they flat out refused to help me with the $7.48. I've been a member for nearly two decades, and this kind of treatment is honestly unacceptable, especially coming from REI who's always been known for standing behind their customers. I'm not planning on giving them my business anytime soon.

Called about getting a flat tire fixed and their recorded message said flats are fixed while you wait. I paid for an Uber XL to get my heavy e-bike there, and when I arrived I had to carry it myself all the way back to the repair area. After a five minute wait, one of the mechanics looked at it and gave me a price of $64.50 plus the cost of parts. I told him that seemed really expensive. He said it's because it's an e-bike. But when I did it myself before, it took two minutes and honestly it's no different than fixing a regular bike except you unplug something. He then started helping someone else and completely ignored me. When a female mechanic came over, I thought she'd take over, but she walked right past me and asked some guy standing behind me if he had any questions. I couldn't believe it. I told them both they were expensive and they had terrible customer service and that I wasn't giving them my money. I had to get another Uber to get home. They really ought to look in the mirror. Z bike is where you should go instead, because those folks are genuinely nice, they know bikes, and their prices are way more reasonable.

That's when I'd had enough. I told them they were both expensive and rude and I wasn't interested. Naturally, I had to Uber home. They really need to check their attitude because they're not the only option out there. Z bike treats people way better, knows their bikes, and actually charges reasonable prices.

They need to realize they're not as great as they think they are. Go to Z bike instead, the people there are actually nice, they know what they're doing, and they don't charge a fortune.

I ordered the Sahara Convertible Pants and they arrived in great condition. The pants let you transform them into shorts without needing to take off your shoes, which is really handy. They're lightweight but still hold up well so far. Haven't had any issues with them.

These folks are the best around. This is my go-to spot for everything outdoors.

Shopping here for sports equipment has been fantastic. The quality is really solid and the customer service is always there when you need it. Love them! My city finally got an REI and the outdoor gear selection here is incredible. I've already bought two pairs of hiking shoes within the past year and I'm definitely coming back for more stuff. The people who work here really know their stuff. Everything's organized nicely too. Their return policy is fantastic, and ordering online is super convenient since you can return stuff in the store if needed. Their rewards program and membership card are really great too.

Whenever I walk into an REI store, I feel right at home with knowledgeable people there to help. Sure, they might not be the absolute cheapest place and they don't have bins overflowing with sale items, but the products are genuinely excellent quality. Over the years their staff has been super helpful in getting me set up with the right hiking and biking equipment. I'm a big fan!

This is an excellent tent. The construction quality really impressed me, but the waterproofing is what really stands out. For someone wanting something super lightweight, the Dash2 could be worth a look, though you'll pay significantly more for it.
