Awful service

Biggest scam of the lot, you buy a testing kit send it off and never hear from them again. Awful

It's great but it could be better

Being able to construct an accurate family tree for myself has been amazing, I've always been very interested in not just my own family history but anybody's family history for that matterHowever when it comes to finding out the names of ancestors that the family don't know the name of I just wish that it was easier to find out rather than contacting distant cousins after DNA test results come back.

Priority Processing DNA Test - dates so far

I am more than happy so far. The sample is posted to Ireland and from there it is sent in a larger batch to the USA. I posted my test from the UK on 9 March and it was marked as received in USA on 20 March. The DNA started processing 23 March and the DNA was extracted 25 March. I was given an approximate result date of 5 May but today (2 April) this has now moved to 17 April! So I am still waiting for results to come through but you are told that the process is estimated to be 6-8 weeks and I have had updates throughout the waiting process. I have also used the 'leaf' chat tool for advice, which was as helpful as it can be and it did offer to put me through to a 'human' if needed but I felt my question was answered by 'leaf'. It does feel like a long wait and I have checked for updates every day but the test does have to take time for it to be correct so I must learn to be patient! I am hoping the results will be through soon and I am sure it will be worth the wait!

Best site for family trees

My go to site to connect with other family members. So much information on there. Also so many historical records to add to my tree.

I was given a DNA test kit for…

I was given a DNA test kit for Christmas which I submitted in late February. Once the kit was dispatched, the communication from Ancestry was brilliant. They kept me informed regarding each step of 6 was completed and inbetween, sent various bits of information to me. My DNA was completed a month earlier than predicted was was good.Since receiving my results I have spent many hours scrolling and referencing. The only downside in my opinion, is that you are encouraged to start your 'free' family tree but are only given a limited amount of free clues before you are encouraged to take out a membership which is quite expensive. Regardless of this, everything else is good and I would recommend the DNA kit to anyone wishing to start their ancestral journey.

I get lots of support by having…by having someone on hand to actually speak to is a great help as not all of us get on well with computers etc

I get lots of support by having different lines of investigation to follow which usually are quite easy taking one byte at a time a tracing my family ancestors it gives quite a few in-depth stories around the times that there would be alive helping put a picture together as full as possible I've learned stories of ancestors that have been very brave not from family but from ancestry the computer really well I'd giving leads and having verbal support on hand it is never filled me when I formed for information and I've usually add my question answers if not I've had the instructions of how to get to where I need to be

I’ve had a really frustrating…

I’ve had a really frustrating experience with Ancestry.I originally sent off my DNA kit on December 15th and was told I’d get results by late March, but the test failed. They sent me a replacement, which I returned on March 12th — and since then, I’ve heard absolutely nothing. No updates, no results, no communication at all. What makes it worse is that I also paid for a membership alongside the DNA kit, as it was supposed to take around 8 weeks. Because of all these delays, I never even got the chance to properly use the membership with my DNA results, so it ended up being a complete waste of money.Overall, very disappointing service and lack of communication. I’d expect much better, especially for something I’ve paid for.
