I paid for a trial subscription and dna…

I paid for a trial subscription and dna test. The subscription had to start immediately. That sucks. Then they couldn’t manage to get DNA from my sample and my subscription expired completely before I even got the replacement test kit. Now I’m going to get my DNA results at some point, but if I want to compare them to a subscription, I have to pay full price for the subscription and I feel like I’ve been conned.

I haven’t received my final results. It’s been about 3 months. What do you mean by experience?

Two Thumbs Down

I had a really frustrating experience with AncestryDNA and would not recommend it based on how things were handled. My husband and I both submitted our tests on 01/02. He received his results by 02/11 with no issues, while mine just sat in “processing” for weeks. Every single day I checked, the estimated completion date kept getting pushed back another week, which was incredibly annoying and confusing.I tried reaching out to customer service through chat, but after waiting over 15 minutes with no response, I gave up. I eventually called on 03/07, and the representative I spoke with was unhelpful, gave vague answers, and said they would “investigate” and follow up, but no one ever contacted me.Then suddenly, later that same day, I received an email saying “oops, we hit a snag” and that I needed to submit a new sample. The wording made it seem like the issue was my fault and that I hadn’t provided a good sample, which didn’t sit right with me. Honestly, it feels more likely that my original sample was lost or something went wrong during processing. The timing just seems too suspicious after over a month of delays and no communication. The only positive part of this experience was that they sent me a free replacement kit. I submitted the second test on 03/13 and received my results by 03/31 without any issues, which only reinforces my belief that something happened to my first sample and I was never going to be told unless I followed up myself.Overall, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and long delays made this a really disappointing experience. We only did this for fun, but it ended up being way more of a hassle than it should have been.

14 year client pays $25 to cancel

I have been a client for 14 years but since I wanted to cancel my subscription before the end of the last 6 MONTH contract, I pay $25. That’s poor customer relations but apparently they don’t care.

Ancestry is easy to use but pricey.

Ancestry is easy to use and it makes connecting with other users very simple. On the plus side, you manage your own tree who can see it. Other users can't change your data without your consent. On the con side, there is incorrect date stored by other people. You need to do your own research. It also is quite pricey. By the time you pay for add ons, it may be more expensive than you'd like. I enjoy it very much and always find something interesting in the website.

I was a bit disappointed

I was a bit disappointed! The results were vague with a lot of fluff , as in family journeys. I thought there would be more parent history, but you have to pay for that!
