I ordered a band, and it worked superbly for a couple of weeks. Great data tracking, and very comfortable. After a couple of weeks it failed to sync to my phone. Assistance from HiLo was terrible, with no technical support for ages. I eventually gave up and requested a refund and even that took forever. If they sort the technical issue then it's a superb product, but the technical support is abysmal.

While the HiLo does an excellent job of monitoring blood pressure, prospective buyers should be aware that much of the capabilities of the system are not available to the user unless they pay a monthly subscription amounting to almost £120 a year. For example, all of the functions on the home screen of the app are locked out unless you pay. In other words, while preaching the user benefits of their device, this is just another money-grubbing company, not really concerned about your welfare, but only about how much money they can extract from your wallet. The response from the company is mere fluff: the functions locked out are sleep, steps, and heart rate - which I get from my watch (costing £40) for no additional subscription. These are hardly functions demanding much more in the way of R&D, or medical validation. At over £200 for the initial device, one might reasonably expect such functions to be included.

I purchased the Hilo band on October 7th, and to summarize my experience in one sentence: it is literally helping to save my life.Over the past months, I have compared its readings with several different medical devices, and I consistently found the measurements to be accurate. It may not always be precise to the decimal point (although in my case it has been very reliable), but that is not the key point. Even when measurements are not perfectly exact, the real value lies in the data over time. When properly interpreted, this continuous stream of information can genuinely make a difference and in some cases, it can be life saving. As of today, I experienced an issue where the band stopped working. I reported it to support, they promptly asked for a short video to verify the problem, and shortly after arranged the shipment of a replacement device.Five stars across the board for the product, the customer support, and above all for the vision behind it.

The readings are just not accurate. I’ve got a normal monitor at home and the. Difference is ridiculous. If anything the bands readings make me worry more so it isn’t good for your health. The doctors have taken my bp on 24hr tape and all good. I want a refund.

Whilst it works generally well overall, issues of function are abominable. The monthly calibration just does not reliably work without multiple attempts. Today, six readings and three arrempts failed to produce calibration. The ‘phone light’ further info readings have never worked.Earlier requst for service/warranty put me in loop of messages/photos etc with no ultimate service. At the point of giving up, having been a client from the outset. Now marketing expensive membership, this looks to me like exploitation of a basically unstable product.

Initially I rated the Hilo device high. I bought mine in December and then bought my wife one in January. However my band then developed a fault where it would keep disconnecting from the app on my IPhone. To reconnect it you have to unpair it in the Hilo app, forget it in the Bluetooth settings on your phone and then go through the process of pairing all over again in the app. Not a major issue but it needs to be in the charger when you do it which you don’t always have handy especially if you’re away from home.I have had numerous sporadic communications with the Hilo “help” team where they advised to me to do various normal things like - turn it off and on again, turn my phone off and back on again, update the app, unpair it and pair it again Zzzzzzzzzzz. Then they ask me to send the data log from the device to them. This I had to do twice. I had to chase for a response and their answer was a normal IT cop out that it was not their device at fault but my phone, a newish IPhone 16 Pro Max.To cap all this I now discover that if you don’t renew the annual subscription at a mere £120, the band becomes useless within 30 days! When I bought my Hilo the subscription renewal was only c£79 but if you didn’t want to renew you just got limited data and only a rolling 7 days worth of blood pressure data.I think having this faulty device and realising the change in subscription goalposts has increased my blood pressure…….. bit counter productive.Faulty devices which are not replaced and extortionate subscription fee makes this one to completely avoid.

Accuracy is very questionable. The key seems to be the calibration. However, the variance in readings especially overnight caused huge anxiety. In the end I have stopped using Hilo and had a professional 24hr BP undertaken at cost. This removed the anxiety and made me realise the traditional BP is best. I think with more research and product testing it could be good. However, from my perspective it is far from reliable and not there yet.
