Sold my unit without notice, absurd fees. Rent elsewhere

Make Space Storage Sundial.Storage is for four weeks(be warned), increased my monthly fee after six months as part of the “yearly increase”($24). I became behind in payments after being told (I called the local number)I was paid up for another 3 months (apparently my fault they lied/were wrong) however I paid in full for them to continue to hold a double lock because the next day the new bill was DUE(usually leaving 21 days before a double lock) and wouldn’t allow me into my unit. I was warned it would go to collections (after 1.5 months)with my response of pleading to be let in to sell some of my belongings to pay off rental fees were ignored. They claimed to have made payment arrangements but never did, wouldn’t allow anything but a full payment(idiotic and unjust). Collections NEVER CONTACTED ME and sold my unit. My whole life was in that unit, my families passed down priceless objects, my personal and business tools, kids belongings and memoirs, leisure toys and basically everything to fill an average apartment(+2teens)all gone with out any word from collections. They have absurd fees 3,7 and 15 days past due on top of the billing cycle not lining up. They were quick to tell me I was passed due(and how many times over the near 3 years of renting) but when I paid 1 or 2 months in advance it was never noted!Short story long, rent from somebody else. Somebody that cares, maybe somebody providing more than a security light unseen from most units after dark(9pm yearly) or that has a gate that actually works and not left open for the winter. By owing $1200 (would have been paid quickly) I’ve lost nearly $35k plus the priceless family heirlooms I’ll never get back. Great business structure

Scam, avoid at all costs

Whatever this service is, it isn't a job placement service for the disabled. Misleading branding, VERY misleading information on their website. Avoid at all costs. It's a wonder they're not shut down for ADA violations because they are definitely NOT ADA compliant. Shameful and disgusting, I will be filing formal reports for this "service".

Store your stuff elsewhere

Company I was renting from bought out by this company. Horrible experience, I was set up on autopay but that info did not transfer over. Mandatory storage fee was added even though I had not agreed. They will bill you random late charges etc. I have removed my belongings, will not deal with this company. Beware

Beware!…

I’ve been renting at the site since 2019 and the site changed hands recently. I had a contractual agreement with the previous company that I pay every 2 weeks. All of a sudden my rent increased from $120.00 to $147.00 and I was forced to pay the insurance plus they tacked on additional $15.00 every 7 days for late payments when I payed half every 2 weeks, bringing the cost up to an extra $60.00 a month. I signed no agreement to that effect and they should honour the previous contract agreement until a new agreement is signed. No help from corporate office, run around from Toronto office. No improvements to the property since the last owner, plus security gate left open and the mud and dust in the service ways. Everything in storage is covered in dust which will cost to clean. Not happy with this company and it’s garbage. Even the garbage cans are overflowing, the place is a mess. Have to pay more money for the same lousy service! And the propaganda on their website is laughable. How do companies get away with this sort if nonsense. This is a small town and word will eventually get around! If you are renting from them, get out now! If you are thinking of renting with them! Keep away from this company.

Here’s what communication is like with…

Here’s what communication is like with this company, and this industry as a whole. Pretend your waiting in line at Taco Bell at 5 am. After an hour you meet the 15 year old and they give you a number for the DMV tomorrow. You go and wait 8 hours at the dmv but they say come back tomorrow. On your way home, for some random reason a cop takes your car and advises you to call Taco Bell the next day. And this continues for 2 weeks. That’s this company

Worst company I have ever dealt with avoid at all costs

would give negative stars if I could. make space destroyed 90% of what we stored with them. Sadly, after having horrible experiences with their customer service, Ive mentioned this to three friends who had equally awful and destructive past experiences- avoid makespace at all costs. In addition to treating your possessions terribly, they have purposefully made their policies impossible to claim any refunds that remotely approach the value of your belongings. 1. two boxes of very insulated and well bubble-wrapped dish-ware were completely shattered as if the boxes had been thrown off a roof.2. our couch was completely torn along the upholstery and looked like it had been dragged along the floor it was so stained. 3. an antique chest of drawers, which I could see they had cracked during storage, was then completely broken in two as they haphazardly placed it in our apartment, even as I asked the movers to be careful, because I could see it had been damaged. 4. all our boxes looked liked they'd been sitting under a 500 lb press on delivery- covered in black scruff marks etc. most objects inside were either fully broken, cracked or bent/damaged. I've truly never experienced such horrible customer service, it was really quite depressing unpacking box after box of our personal possessions destroyed by a company we thought would responsibly store our things we received a $200 credit towards conservatively $6000-8000 dollars worth of ruined items in terms of retail value.horrible company, even worse customer service- avoid at all costs

Honestly guys..

Honestly guys... just a huge scam. There guys really suck. Leech on society. Terrible experience. Literally exact same to everything I'm reading now online. Wish I did before. They jack up prices on you like crazy. My items are pretty much being held hostage if I don't cough up $300+ (as far as I know its only this much, but probably will end up being a lot more).Increased my rate from $159 to $215 and my delivery from $59 to $300. Even pick up will require professional movers apparently which can cost anywhere from $169+ per hour.

NOT RECOMMENDED. “My worst storage experience”. First because THEY LOST ONE OF MY ITEMS, after storing my things for more than a year with them, paying more than 220 dollars monthly for less than 5’ x10’, mostly to store my bed, now I don’t have a bed. To lose items seems natural to them, they are unorganized and their communication is not straightforward, after filling surveys and talking to around 10 people, they finally offered me 53 dollars back for a bed, because I had contracted the Basic Insurance Plan. Their policies, and that plan specifically, are abusive. don't choose that plan, because they DO LOSE THINGS, and if they lose something valuable they pay you for the weight of it. Even though some of the employees I talked to recognized it was not fair, the company did not not take full responsibility for the loss.Second, the service must seem like a good choice when you are in a rush or emergency, but it IS NOT. They try to sell you on their advertisements and web page that their service will be for less of the price of traditional self-storage, on the fact that is not true, they are much MORE EXPENSIVE at the end, they are unreliable, and give you the run-around when there's an issue. Much better to call for independent movers and store your things in a regular Storage in the city where you have access and control over your things, so there is not chance for them to be lost. It will be cheaper than their service in the end. Now I have my things at Public Storage and I pay 150 dollars, against the 220  they charged me for the same space. Independent movers charge you the same or less than the 400 they charge for the moving back. Third, they have very BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. They partnered with a different company who takes care of the claims. I had to talk and email around 10 different people, always being me who takes the initiative even though they made the mistake, sometimes they didn’t even answer and I had to write again. I talked to Alexander, Jereme, Sirena, Michenlangelo, Louis, Deonte and so on, never the same person, so I needed to explain the issue several times, and I lost, on top of my item, a lot of time. Some of the people I talked to recognized that there was a problem and an unfair resolution and sent the info to a supervisor, but their response was the same, it was kind of like talking to a machine.

It’s a scam

It’s a scam. They will wreck havoc on your personal belongings. They even broke my toaster in addition to every single item worth anything of value that was stored by them. Beware.
