Once they get your money you’re SOL

Yes I understand this service is cheap, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work. I can’t even use my data outside of WiFi because nothing loads. Half the time I don’t even get 5G it’s LTE. I have chatted in so many times I get the same copy paste response. “There’s a known service issue in your area, we are working on it.” It has been MONTHS. Multiple attempts at getting it fixed. Nothing ever changes. I asked if I can cancel because I’m fed up and they tell me no. They suck you in by having the yearly rate be $15, you save so much so you bite the bullet but as soon as you do you’re screwed. No refunds even when it’s a them issue. Absolutely sham of a company, I will never renew with mint again and anyone I’ve recommended it to, I am so sorry never again. I guess I’ll have to cancel and get a chargeback from the bank. Absolutely pathetic. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! They do not care! Once they have it you’re done.

This was the worst experience I've ever had!…

UPDATE: I EILL NEVER CALL YOIR CS NUMBER EVER! Are you kidding? All the time wasted, the stress, the disrespect??? No! I have also filed a complaint with the FCC. You're done!, i don't get my label and refund? I will call my bank. I am also in contact with the atty that started a class action lawsuit against you! Hire cs reps in the Phillipines you deserve what's coming! This was the worst experience I've ever had. I have their mobile service and never had issues. I decided to try their "minternet" and regretted it az soon as I got the equipment on 1/31. It was not reading the SIM card. I called they tried everything and finally sent me a label to return it and send nee equipment put. By now my husband was livid and said no he wanted nothing to do with them. I confirmed they receive the original equipment via FedEx which they did on 2/4. I now had the new equipment and no longer wanted to do business with them so I called ASAP...I went through 3 CS reps with the 3rd one lying and telling me they no longer email return labels. Was argumentative, refused to transfer me to a manager. This ordeal lasted from 2:30 until 3:45 still with no help. I finally called back let the mint mobile CS rep know the situation and they transferred me to a supervisor. Who promptly processed the cancelation and said I should have the label within 24 to 48 hours. (Welcome to the digital age) I'm trusting she did not lie. If I don't receive that label I will contact my bank. I will also contact mint mobile and cancel both cell phones. I'm disgusted to my core. The WORST cs experience I've ever had. You couldn't pay me to give them another chance! Those reps should be fired!

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!

I have had mint mobile for a few years now and I can not complain. I've saved money and the service has been good if not great. Maybe I just live and travel in the right places. Every service you can use has hiccups and bad days. Don't get bent out of shape because you service has given you trouble for 7 days while the other 358 days it has worked flawlessly. One example is I gave this service 1 star because my phone was not made for 5G and i can only get 4G .... now really whose fault is that?Bottom Line is I highly Recommend Mint Mobile based on my own experiences. But your mileage may very. Check and see if T-Mobile works good in the area you live and the places you visit, if it does then Mint Mobile is the way to go!

Good service, but I can’t buy a replacement phone as an existing customer

I switched from Verizon to Mint Mobile over a year ago for better value, and while the network hasn’t been perfect, it’s been good overall. Calls generally work fine and day-to-day service has been acceptable, which is why this whole situation has been so frustrating.Since October 30, 2025, I’ve been unable to purchase a replacement phone as an existing customer due to what appears to be a checkout issue on Mint’s website. Every attempt to buy a device-only phone fails during checkout and the order gets auto-canceled or auto-refunded. I’ve tried multiple browsers, multiple payment methods (credit cards and PayPal), and confirmed with my bank that nothing is being declined. The problem is clearly on Mint’s side.I’ve spent well over 12 hours on calls and chats with support, including Level 2 and internal escalation. I was promised a callback that never happened, and I’ve been given different explanations depending on who I talked to, including being told it was just an address issue, which doesn’t line up with the later failed orders using correct information.Because Mint won’t allow me to complete the purchase at the advertised sale price, I’m now stuck using an older phone that doesn’t support 5G. That has directly hurt my coverage and reliability where I live, and it shouldn’t be this hard to simply replace a phone.I’ve filed FCC and BBB complaints, but I’d still rather just hear from someone at Mint who has the authority to actually fix this. I chose Mint over Verizon for a reason, and I want to stay — but customer service and purchasing need serious improvement.Update: Mint Mobile responded publicly asking me to call customer service again. I’ve already spent over 12 hours on calls with that same number, including Level 2 support and internal escalation, without resolution. Redirecting me back to the same support loop does not address the issue. I’m still waiting for contact from someone with the authority to resolve the existing-customer checkout block.

Mint Mobile has terrible customer…

Mint Mobile has terrible customer service. Mint international plan was purchased, never worked... No refund 1GB data add was purchased, never worked... No refund. Several calls to Mint with no resolution or refund. Reps read from a script and are not interested in building customer relations. Very disappointed and frustrated with their policies. Update:Standard response from Mint belowIf they were sincerely apologetic, they would reach out to resolve the issues.

Mint's Legit

I've been a Mint Mobile phone customer for over a year now and haven't had a single problem. I'm not a huge fan of having to pay up front for a period of time in the future, but that is their business model, and there's really nothing I can do about. If you're really against paying up front for future service (beyond the next month) check out Tello phone service. They are very reliable too and have really inexpensive rates. The charge by the month, which many people will like. The reason I am not on Tello is because of the International Roaming features I get with Mint vs. Tello. Mint's structure, when you travel internationally, is extremely easy to understand, and it's cheap (comparatively speaking). Tello's is more difficult to understand, although it could be just as cheap. I don't know.Anyway, Mint mobile is a no-brainer for people who can pay in advance and want a great service at a cost that is dirt cheap compared to other carriers. I highly recommend it. I'm using an iphone 15 Pro Max, am a mild to medium texter and internet surfer.

Ridiculous

My 83 y.o. friend was in the hospital and didn't turn his phone on for 2 days, so they cancelled his service. The bill was paid. He just didn't turn it on. Now they are making getting it back on hell. He has to have a new SIM. They won't send because a sick 83 y.o. man can't remember how much Xtra data he bought over the last 12 months, so he can't be verified. They seem to think I should be tied to side so he can be available when they finally call him back on my phone. We are researching other options. Ridiculous

Poor Customer Service and Confusing Referral Program

I’m sharing this experience to help others avoid issues with Mint Mobile’s referral program. If you plan to refer a friend for the advertised $45 referral credit, be aware that using the 15NOW promo code included in the referral email can invalidate the referral bonus, even though this is not clearly explained. Here’s what happened. My husband referred me through his Mint account using Refer a Friend → Share by email. The referral email contained a default message stating that I could use the code 15NOW to get $15 off a 3-month plan, plus $15 in renewal credit. I clicked the referral link in that email and entered the code during checkout, unaware that this code is a separate promotion that cancels the referral credit (I would get $15, but my husband would not receive the $45 referral bonus).Mint’s email states that referral credits may take up to two weeks to appear. After waiting the full two weeks and seeing no credit in my husband’s account, we contacted customer support. My husband first used online chat. The representative said there was no referral record and suggested the referral may not have been completed correctly. They also mentioned this was a common issue, which raises concerns about why the system or messaging hasn’t been improved.I then called customer support. The first representative verified both accounts and my purchase order number and confirmed that my husband’s account was not linked to my purchase. When I asked whether any credit could be issued, the call was disconnected.I called again and went through the full verification process a second time. After a long hold, I was told again that no referral was visible and that because the credit should have appeared by now, they could not do anything without proof. I was advised to submit screenshots via chat.I uploaded screenshots of the referral email and purchase confirmation. The chat experience was inconsistent and confusing: I was first told to wait another day for the credit to show up in my husband's account, then told a “special offer” was applied, then given incorrect information about referral amounts. After asking for clarification and references, the representative eventually acknowledged that the referral bonus should be $45 but stated that using the 15NOW code invalidated it. This was frustrating because the code appears automatically in the default referral email text generated by Mint’s own system. After nearly four hours across phone and chat support, Mint ultimately issued $20 in credits, which does not match the advertised referral bonus and felt like a partial workaround rather than a resolution.Conclusion:1. Customer service representatives need clearer training and more consistent information. Repeating the same explanations across multiple representatives for hours, and being disconnected mid-call, is not acceptable.2. The referral program is misleading. If using the 15NOW code cancels the $45 referral bonus, this should be clearly stated in the referral email or on the referral page. Customers should not be penalized for using a default message generated by Mint’s own system.I hope Mint improves both the clarity of its referral program and the quality of its customer support.
