Misled Into Paying Twice: A Squarespace Warning

I have so far had quite a bad experience with squarespace. I'm in the process of starting up a new business, and thought starting off with a website would be good. I started creating a website during the 2 week trial period.During the set up of your website, the page prompts you to get things like a domain name set up, and Google Workspace. As these were all things i was planning on getting, i went through the set up of my website with all the add ons, and paid for these in the process. After the trial period, I was no longer able to access my created website and launch it, unless i signed up to the subscription. Not a problem, however, it is at this point that I realised a domain name and Google Workspace were included in this deal! I had at this point already paid about €240 for the domain and Workspace. The subscription was going to be an additional €261. So, I would essentially be double paying for things, I already owned. So, I contacted customer services, with the question:Hey, I have these things, which apparently I will be paying for again, if I take out the subscription. Would a refund be possible of the double payment?Customer Service replied, no problem, as soon as you take out the subscription, we refund you the previously paid amount.Well...guess what? They are now claiming they will only refund me the difference on the deal they currently have - and have offered me around €60 back. That is almost €200 less than i should be getting.Now. The issue isn't even so much the amount, but the fact they confirmed a refund, then got me to sign up, and the refused the refund. Because of the information i was given, i went ahead with the subscription payment. If squarespace had been up front, i would have been able to make an informed decision. I feel I have now wasted so much money on this, when i could have saved myself the money and the time, had they been clear from the start.I have escalated my issue, but so far noone is willing to resolve it properly.I will not be recommending squarespace to anyone, and i regret setting up my website through them.

Essentially no access to customer service when something goes wrong

I am so sick of having to user Trustpilot as a de facto support service for a company that no longer provides any decent level of help with their products. I am paying for a subscription I do not need and do not want but no-one responds on their chat and the only "help" provided so far is a link to a help page that does not exist. No doubt now that I've posted here someone will respond, but that response should have happened when I first contacted them on their own site!UPDATE: After waiting on hold for more than three hours on their "live" chat without so much as a single response from them I gave up. Offering up chat as the only way of contacting them and then not even bothering to respond is risible. Squarespace shows nothing but absolute contempt for its customers.UPDATE 2: As you can see Squarespace went to the trouble to look helpful by replying to this review. Did they actually help with the problem I had? No. Did they respond on the chat they mention? Despite having the chat window open for 7 hours (!!) there was no reply. Did they reply to my email? No. Utterly dreadful and completely infuriating service. A chat is not a chat if you never respond!

Most of it great and user friendly

All it's good and user friendly. However, there are areas to improve:1) E-newsletter / campaigns need more versatility in design to create something with more impact and visually appealing.2) The Member's area - pages is a bit tricky to set this function up. The system is not intuitive enough and I did struggle finding the right way to do it. 3) If the idea is that anyone can build their own website without knowing design, coding and being super tech savy, your troubleshooting support pages need to be at a basic level, step-by-step, easy to understand and achieve.

Squarespace locked me out of my account…

Squarespace locked me out of my account with many domains tied to companies that do close to $10 mil in revenue. They asked for documentation that i couldn't provide - my personal name on a bank statement showing the Squarespace expense. I dont have that because I have a business bank account so it shows the business name. That should be fine, right? Apparently they dont care and wont make exceptions. They have stopped responding to me and i'm currently looking at potential litigation. Don't trust this company with your domains and website - they don't care about you.

Day 3 With No Email, No Support, and No Accountability

Here I am again. Day 3 with no help, no resolution, and still no working email. At this point it feels like the only way to get any kind of response from Squarespace is to come back here and write another review. This has now been 3 days of absolute chaos and still no resolution. Honestly, this is beyond frustrating at this point. We were never properly told that Google domains were being moved over to Squarespace. The only reason we even found out something was wrong was because our emails just stopped working out of nowhere.Since moving from GoDaddy to Squarespace, everything has completely fallen apart:No proper access to our accountNo ability to fix or cancel anything3 days with no business email at allThis is not a small issue. This is actively damaging our business, costing us money, clients, and trust. And the worst part is the so-called “support”:Same generic copy-paste replies over and over againConstantly told to “be patient” with no actual updatesLive chat agents cutting us off mid-conversation and closing the chat saying we “don’t have a question”Multiple tickets, emails, messages, completely ignored or going nowhereThis morning we were told someone was actively working on it, now we are being told it is “in a queue”It feels like no one actually knows what they’re doing or cares enough to fix it.This should have been something simple. Setting MX records is not complicated. Instead it has turned into days of disruption with zero accountability. This is clearly not just happening to us either, which makes it even worse.Genuinely one of the worst service experiences we’ve ever had. If we could give zero stars, we would. We will be moving away from Squarespace as soon as we can, and I would strongly warn any business thinking of using them. Being left without email for days with no real support is completely unacceptable.

Ongoing Email Outage

Our emails have been inactive since switching our domain over. What should have been a simple task, such as adding an MX record in Squarespace, has turned into a prolonged issue. We are unable to access our account properly, and when attempting to contact support, we are repeatedly told to “be patient” while a product specialist reviews the issue. It has now been three days, and our entire company is still without email functionality. This situation is unacceptable. Something that should be straightforward has been unnecessarily dragged out, and customer support continues to provide the same generic responses without any real resolution. This is actively damaging our business operations. I would strongly caution other businesses against relying on this service based on our experience.

Damaging to business

We’ve been trying for 2 days to get our company emails back online after moving our domains to Squarespace. Since the switch, all email functionality has stopped, costing us customers and revenue. We’ve opened multiple tickets, used live chat, posted on X, and sent 5 emails today alone with no response. This is clearly not an isolated issue based on other reports online.Businesses need to be aware, this level of disruption and lack of support is seriously damaging.

“15+ Days, No Resolution – Affecting My Business”

I’ve been trying to resolve an account issue with Squarespace for over 15 days, and the experience has been extremely frustrating.I submitted their ownership verification form, provided proof of payment, and followed all their instructions. Despite this, I still cannot update my account email because verification codes are sent to an inactive email I no longer have access to.This is directly affecting my business, as I cannot properly manage communication through my website. While the platform itself is good, the customer support is not. The only way to get help is through a slow chat system, and it takes too long to reach a real person. For a service that charges a premium yearly price, this level of support is unacceptable. You shouldn’t have to pay more just to get proper assistance when something goes wrong.Very frustrating experience overall.UPDATED: Thank you for your response.I have already used that contact page and followed your process, including submitting the ownership verification form and providing proof of payment. This issue has been ongoing for over two weeks, and I am still unable to update my account email. I continue to receive the same response that the case is under review, but no resolution or timeline has been provided.Directing me back to the same support channel does not resolve the issue. I need a clear update and a concrete solution. This is directly affecting my business, as I cannot properly manage communication through my website.

There is a reason that the majority of reviews are 1 stat

There is a reason that the majority of reviews here are 1 star. I am just commenting on the customer service which is some of the worst I've ever had. They (and when I say they I assume just robots) are awful and do not answer your questions and then when they decided they do not want to answer any more questions they just say " sorry we don't want to speak anymore" and end the chat. Please if you are reading reviews to consider whether to use this service or not, DO NOT! At least for domains or if you want any half-decent customer service, do not use sqaurespace.

I like the simplified layout

I like the simplified layout, and the ability to add all types of blocks, including an embed block. Also, I like how fast their customer support is. ;)
