Felicia, my tax preparer, was great and seemed to have done a trust worthy job preparing my tax return. When it came time to pay, the Turbo Tax system kept having glitches and would not allow me to pay the $150 advertised, agreed on price, it kept wanting me to pay $385.56 which is the regular amount with sales tax. She tried for quite a while with support on her end to turn the amount around to the advertised price. She had no luck and came back and said her support staff asked me to pay the full amount and then they'd refund me. I agreed to this. HOWEVER, today, I have no way to contact Felicia or have access to our messaging to PROVE this is what support said. Once you pay on Turbo Tax, your expert disappears. She's gone. I asked her yesterday to please give me her email in case we got cut off (funny how my intuition predicted this) but I didn't hear back from her. I called support this morning and come to find out, once you pay your taxes fee to Turbo Tax, ALL of that goes away. I no longer have access to ANY of our messaging or Felicia. I cannot express how angry I am about this. We'll see how it goes with the refund but if TT does not refund my money, I will release the hounds of hell to get it back.

I accepted a promotional offer to have my return prepared by an Expert for $150. I uploaded my documents and the Expert prepared the return. I was unable to see the return until I paid and was told I had to first submit it. So, I filed the return and when I was able to see the PDF, I saw it had a completely invalid address. The address used was not on any of my documents. I finally had one of their Experts file an amended return and he found that the amount for my Social Security was also entered incorrectly. (I also had failed to include a 1099-my mistake.) This whole process involved speaking with many "Experts," never being able to get back in touch with anyone I had spoken with previously. Now, I have received a corrected 1099 and need to get in touch with the person who filed the amended return. I have spoken with a number of Experts, a couple have said they sent the preparer a message to get in touch with me, but I have not received any response.

AVOID TURBOTAX. THERE ARE BETTER CHEAPER MORE HONEST ALTERNATIVES. TurboTax lies and employs false advertising and deceptive pricing practices. What is advertised as free secretly escalates to $187 to file, which is only revealed after you spend hours entering your tax data.

Have bugs, takes forever just to get few things done. You'll probably need few days to finish

I've used the free version for many years because my taxes are very straightforward and simple to do. I'll never use them again because now, they upgrade you to the paid version without your knowledge, then force you to pay it. Even when you try to downgrade the service, it won't let you. It says because I qualify for the standard deduction, I have to pay $129 plus another $40 fee!

I've used Turbo Tax for 8 or 9 years. This year I had trouble deducting an IRA but was qualified to do so. Using the AI support took me down a number of dead ends and was difficult and frustrating and took a long time to resolve the issue. In the past these issues were quickly resolved with human support. Now they charge extra for that. If they don't include human support next year I'll probably switch to a more user friendly software that provides human support at a lower reasonable cost

I’ve used them for years. Never had an issue with customer service, contacting agents, or anything like that. The only issue I really have with them is the “hidden fees” they don’t show you until it’s time to check out and file. Then they hit you with their filing fees, state filing fees (common) but they are a lot higher than other sites, and the “take from my refund fee” is a little higher than most others ($40). It usually costs me approximately $250+ to file my taxes. But they are accurate and received in 3wks (to the day usually) from when I file.

I never agreed to upgrade to expert assist, but TurboTax upgraded me automatically and made made me pay for it. The premium feature ended up costing more than my federal tax return. I didn’t need help filing to begin with. Will not be filing with TurboTax again.

They falsely claim its free but auto charge you for deluxe and claim you had more than a simple return when you in fact have a super simple return.
