I ordered a seven-piece living room set and four items showed up damaged. It took multiple trips to finally get everything. One was a custom chair that they remade, but six months later the backing is still loose and looks awful. I talked to customer service and they basically said it's just normal 'comfort wrinkles' and won't do anything about it, even though I paid $1,800 for that chair. I'm frustrated thinking about how it'll look down the road. It's disappointing to feel like they don't really care about keeping customers satisfied.

I can't even post a review on their site even after spending thousands on bedroom furniture. Every time I submit one, it times out. The Emerson dresser line has drawers that don't close smoothly, which is a major problem. The delivery guys said my floors were uneven, but that doesn't hold up. I had dressers from other major retailers before and they worked fine on the same floors. The Room and Board dressers are just poor quality. The delivery team left me shims to deal with it. I really wish I'd sent it all back instead of being stuck with expensive furniture that doesn't even work right.
Bought a sofa and loveseat but waited five months for delivery. Four months after getting them, a hole appeared in one of the seams. Customer service won't repair it and keeps saying it's from a pet, which makes no sense since we don't have any animals and the tear is in the side seam anyway.
I have a pair of gorgeous maple shelves with doors plus a tv stand and they're absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship is really top tier. One bracket ended up missing, but the delivery person ordered it and it showed up in just a couple of days. Someone from customer service even called to make sure everything was good.

TERRIBLE experience with an assistant manager at the Costa Mesa location! We've been loyal customers with great shopping experiences in the past. This particular manager has completely turned us off and we probably won't be back because of him. I spent two weeks coordinating with my husband to come into the store and look at a $3,000 console cabinet. It was positioned behind a couch with shelving right behind it, making it impossible to see the front properly. We asked if it could be moved so we could view it before ordering. The sales staff were wonderful, but this manager, who was just standing around doing nothing, said it couldn't be moved because of potential damage. We pushed back and got him to move it slightly, with my husband helping out. We needed to decide between a white ceramic or wood top, so we walked over quickly to check the ceramic options with our salesperson and grabbed a sample. When we came back, the cabinet had been shoved back into the tight space. We questioned why, and he said it was a safety hazard. That made no sense.
I'm writing this to pushback on some of the negative comments I've read online. I have a house filled with their furniture and have shopped there since the early 2000s. Unlike a lot of places these days, they have real stores where you can see their whole collection in person. The service is consistently excellent no matter which location you visit. For what you're paying, their quality and design can't be beaten. We're heading to Boston soon to pick up more items, and when I looked at alternatives, comparable places are charging nearly double the price.
Over the years I've bought two sofas and a couple of accent chairs from this place. Honestly, I didn't even know about their return policy until my second sofa came in. The Clemens modular sofa arrived as 3 separate pieces that kept sliding all over, which wasn't what I expected. I reached out through their follow-up survey and they were super accommodating, letting me keep it while I waited for a replacement sofa during the whole COVID situation, like 8 months or so. Turns out the real issue was those rubber feet had plastic covers that nobody told me to take off at delivery. I'm giving them 4 stars because the first delivery could've gone smoother. That said, their return process is genuinely great and the people in the store are wonderful. When the second delivery team came to pick up the old couch, they spotted the plastic protectors, removed them, and actually installed clamps right there on the spot to keep the modules from moving, which you don't normally get with this model. That team really went the extra mile and fixed the whole situation. Ended up canceling my other sofa order since I was happy.
We ordered two walnut desks and when they arrived and we set them up, they looked completely different from what was shown online and described in the listing. The description mentioned that wood grain and color might vary, but the front panel on one desk looked like it was stained improperly. The other one has a side panel that's totally mismatched. The delivery team said everything was fine even when we kept pushing back on it. The customer service experience was really poor; they basically tried to convince us we were wrong when we knew what we had ordered. I was shocked to hear they don't even inspect items before they ship them out. We're hoping the replacement ones will actually match what's advertised.
