What made them stand out was their genuine commitment to their work, their warm and friendly attitude, and how respectfully they treated every single visitor. Staff members like these who bring authentic kindness and professionalism to their jobs are hard to find, and I wanted to make sure their contributions were recognized. The Safari Park itself, situated in the scenic valley area north of San Diego and operating as the sister facility to the main zoo, continues to be an incredible destination.
It used to be so much better. My household got yearly passes before, but the value isn't there anymore with all the restricted days when passes don't work.

Zoos aren't really my thing normally. I have concerns about how the animals are treated. But the San Diego Zoo changed my perspective when I learned about their rescue initiatives and conservation efforts. I was genuinely impressed by how much room and care they put into each habitat, way better than other facilities I've visited. We had a wonderful day overall. I'm giving four stars instead of five because while I appreciate what they do, I still have mixed feelings about zoos in general, plus the concession prices in the park are ridiculously expensive.
Sure, it was packed with people, but honestly the whole thing deserves five stars. My kids were thrilled the entire time we were there, and I had just as much fun. We'll definitely be back when we're next in California.
