King Arthur Baking receives polarized feedback on RetailCoupons.com, rated 2.3 out of 5 by 17 shoppers. Positive reviewers consistently praise the company's customer service team, noting representatives who listen carefully, resolve issues promptly, and go beyond expectations (such as refunding coupon amounts without being asked). These shoppers describe unexpectedly caring and thoughtful support experiences.

Negative reviewers report significant problems with product quality and order management. Common complaints include premade baking products that fail to perform as advertised (dough that won't rise, lumpy batter, products arriving in aged or damaged packaging), unmet expectations when following recipes exactly, and confusing split shipments from multiple locations without clear communication about timing. Some shoppers feel their expensive orders for important events resulted in inedible outcomes.

Had an outstanding experience talking with Alexander from their customer service team. He really understood what I needed and addressed every part of my issue. Thanks so much for representing the company so well and for great customer service, Alexander.

I placed a big expensive order for items I needed to make for a church event. The Irish soda bread turned out absolutely awful even though I followed the recipe perfectly. The eggnog cake came in a box that looked old and the batter was so lumpy it barely mixed. Then I made the yellow cake with chocolate buttercream and the frosting came out black instead of chocolate looking, tasted okay but was lumpy and hard to work with. Same problem with the cake being lumpy. Everything was disappointing. I also got five boxes of scone mix and some biscuit flour that I'll probably just throw away based on how the other stuff turned out. These products are way overpriced for the quality. Nothing mixed properly, items seem old, and I emailed asking for a refund based on their guarantee but I'm not holding my breath. Skip this and go with Betty Crocker or White Lily flour instead.

I have to agree with other positive reviews here. Why are there so many negative ones? This company is excellent. Their customer care team doesn't just hear you, they actually listen. I got such a caring and thoughtful response when I had an issue that I was completely surprised. It bothers me to see all these terrible reviews for a company that really doesn't deserve them. They have quality products and staff to back it up. I'd give them 10 stars if I could!

I'm honestly confused why King Arthur gets so many negative reviews on this site. I just had an amazing experience with their customer service. I called about an order where I'd forgotten to use a coupon code. Even though it was past the point to modify the order, the rep immediately refunded the coupon amount to my account without me even asking. Everything I've bought from them has been great, and this was my first time needing to call customer service. In a time when most companies don't care about treating customers well, it was refreshing to talk to an actual person who spoke clear English, was friendly, professional, helpful, and actually solved my problem. Really impressed, King Arthur.

I placed an order that turned into a nightmare. Found out my items were shipping from 3 separate locations on 3 different dates. Nobody told me about the split shipment or what was arriving when. This made it really hard to plan my baking projects with everything showing up all over the place. When I reached out to customer service, the rep basically said it wasn't his problem to explain. I won't be ordering from them again.

If the Pull-Apart Garlic Bread is any sign of King Arthur's standards, no wonder they're struggling. The yeast was either old or dead because the dough barely rose. No matter how much I kneaded it, it never got soft or pull-apart friendly. It pretty much had to be torn apart. It didn't bake like the picture showed either; the pieces stayed separate and baked up more like hard biscuits than the fluffy bread they promised. The package didn't have an expiration date either, which isn't reassuring. Since I ordered online, I couldn't even check freshness before buying. Lesson learned. I won't be ordering King Arthur products online again, and probably not in stores either.

King Arthur promoted 20% off first orders if you sign up through their text offer. The problem is the ad never mentioned that appliances were excluded. I found out the hard way when I wanted to use it on a $799 machine that's why I signed up in the first place. When I pointed this out and even shared FTC information about misleading advertising, they refused to honor it. After going back and forth for a week, they offered $15 off, which felt insulting for a $799 purchase. I ended up buying from Ooni instead, got 10% off, and their terms were clear upfront. The Ooni works great. We also switched to Bob's Red Mill flour.

I've been using King Arthur Flour for years as a serious home baker, but I've noticed a real drop in quality. What used to be a premium product now feels inconsistent and hard to rely on. The all-purpose flour seems overly processed and doesn't have the rich feel or dependable performance it used to. I've had surprising problems with recipes I've made perfectly for years now giving me dense bread, flat cakes, and odd textures. The flour also clumps up and seems to grab moisture too easily even when I store it properly, which makes me think their packaging or milling process has changed. For a brand that charges premium prices and claims to stand for quality and tradition, this is disappointing. The marketing still talks about artisan values and excellence, but it feels more like they're cutting corners to save money. I switched to Bob's Red Mill, which costs less and gives me much more reliable results. King Arthur just isn't the same anymore.

I really like this flour, especially since I need it for my gluten intolerance. My issue is that the cost keeps going up and up. On top of the high price, the bags seem to only be filled halfway. At this rate, it's becoming hard to justify buying it without seeing my grocery bill skyrocket.

I really do love King Arthur products overall. The one thing that's been devastating is that my favorite baking sweetener got discontinued. The King Arthur Baking Alternative was perfect for me and my diet. Every other alternative sweetener I've tried with stevia, erythritol, allulose, or monkfruit has this weird aftertaste. This one was different and worked great. Now it's gone and the company won't even tell me why. I heard it was actually a popular item, so I'm confused and let down about losing it.

I've had nothing but good experiences with King Arthur. I love their products and their customer service is fantastic. They respond really quickly when there's an issue. I recently got a cake pan as a gift that had a scratch on it, so I contacted them and they're replacing it no questions asked. They told me to keep the scratched one, donate it, or toss it. You can't ask for better service than that.

Ordered 24 heart-shaped pans as gifts for a bridal shower. Two boxes arrived, and I just stored them based on the labeling without checking. When we opened them for the shower prep, we discovered each box had only 3 pans instead of 6. We were missing 12 pans with the event just a week away in another city. Customer service said they were out of stock but refunded the missing items. That was it. No compensation for the inconvenience or the extra money I had to spend scrambling to buy replacement pans last minute at higher prices. Most companies would have made this right in a meaningful way.

I ordered a kitchen appliance advertised as free shipping along with a small sourdough starter. Turns out I got charged $10 to ship that tiny jar even though it went in the same box as the free shipping item. I contacted customer service multiple times and kept getting the same response: they give free shipping on appliances to attract customers, then charge shipping on everything else in the order to offset it, regardless of whether it ships together. They'd rather make the extra $10 than keep a customer. I'd skip their website and shop elsewhere.

Concerned about the company's approach to cultural representation and some of their internal policies that seem contradictory to their brand values.

Marcus J.Jan 25, 2024

I have serious concerns about this company's values and practices.
