Lots of unnecessary packaging I don't need. The food itself was decent enough, but honestly it's comparable to restaurant prices and doesn't taste fresher or healthier (especially lacking vegetables). Some items like the ribs were actually pretty disappointing.

This is the second time in two months that a meal didn't show up in my order. Shef's only response is giving me a refund after I reach out to them about it. Seems like there's zero quality control happening during packing and shipping.

On our second order now and the meals have been delicious with portion sizes that work perfectly for the two of us. Deliveries have run a little behind schedule sometimes, and our driver last time didn't grab the container from our previous delivery. Apart from those things, we're really happy with the service!

My first order was extremely frustrating from start to finish. I wanted to reschedule my delivery to Monday but couldn't figure out how in the app. Customer support first said they'd help, then said they couldn't, and never actually showed me what to do. Out of nowhere, my delivery got moved to Tuesday without asking me, and one meal I definitely didn't pick got swapped in anyway. I still had to pay for it. When I tried to change or cancel it, they said it was too late even though this was my first week setting up. The app has 'settings' you can only view but can't actually use, which is super misleading and nobody explains that upfront. You're basically blocked from making changes with no warning. Their response focused way more on the rules than actually fixing things or offering something reasonable. For a company that promises flexibility and convenience, this was the complete opposite. Paying customers deserve better than getting locked in with no real support.

The meals are genuinely authentic tasting and incredibly flavorful. Really satisfied with what we've received so far.

So glad we gave Shef a shot because it eliminated all the back-and-forth about what to cook and the meals are already prepared. Zero cleanup after eating, no dishes or cookware sitting around, and every meal is healthy, delicious, and the right amount. Wish I'd found this sooner!

The actual meals are solid quality, though that depends on which chefs and options are available in your area. Customer service though? Pretty disappointing. Their responses all sound robotic and automated. Every response just says something like 'We'll bring this up with the team.' When we first started getting deliveries, they were coming in late sometimes by nearly an hour past the promised window. It got better over time, but since there's nobody to really talk to about issues, it feels fragile somehow. Like we could end up with late deliveries again without warning. The whole thing operates more like a platform than a personal service, which feels impersonal for something so personal as food. That said, it's still a solid meal service overall and compared to other options we've tried, we like the flexibility, quality, and pricing best.

Trying out three meals per week for two weeks now and they've all been fantastic. The packaging is thoughtful and reheating is super simple.

The selection here is pretty limited and repetitive. It feels like they keep cycling through the same meals you'd see in supermarket frozen food sections or at typical restaurants throughout the area. Shef should really be more thoughtful about their food curation process and recognize potential bias toward the same offerings repeatedly. There's way too much overlap with Mexican and Italian cuisines, which are already everywhere at quick-service places, grocery stores, and restaurants. Food preferences vary wildly, and honestly people come here looking for homemade dishes they can't find elsewhere, not restaurant duplicates. In a city with tons of dining options, that matters even more. True homemade cooking is special because of how long preparation takes and the unique flavors that come from that. Restaurant food mimicry just looks nice but tastes mediocre and bland because of cost-cutting production methods. They're losing sight of what makes this service special. The focus on appearance is overshadowing real flavor and actual options.

Quality is hit or miss with these meals. Some are good, but others come out pretty dry. Thinking I might switch back to Green Chef instead. Used this while traveling for work and it's fine as a backup when you're not home to cook, but I'm not sure it's worth staying with.
