Called support to find out where my camera went since FedEx ditched the packing slip before dropping it off for service. I was worried it wouldn't get processed or linked to my account. The guy I talked to was rude, argumentative, and really condescending. He kept contradicting what the online instructions said and insisted my packing list wasn't actually a packing list, even though it literally says it in red letters.
Really frustrated with the support team here. They clearly don't understand their own products. Bought a Coolpix 1100 based on their claims that it works with iPhones through their app, but it won't even connect. Not worth the hassle.
Nikon sent me a download link for the firmware update for my brand new Z6 III. The second I clicked to install it through the menu, the camera just died completely. The tech support guy had me try fix after fix but nothing worked, like the battery wasn't even there. They're saying the circuit board fried from their software update. When I asked them to cover shipping to their repair facility, they said no. After I took it to the shipping place myself, I called back requesting a refund for the $14.70 shipping cost. They told me they'd email a prepaid label but couldn't promise reimbursement, only that they'd put in a request. Never heard back, they won't commit to anything. This is their mistake, period. I've bought 4 high-end Nikon bodies, 6 high-end lenses, multiple flashes, and more, but they won't refund fourteen dollars. Skip this company. I'm switching to Sony. Loyal for 35 years and this is how they repay it.
The repair service here is basically non-existent. Communication is awful, and the website for members barely functions. Sure, the actual repairs get done okay, but you'll get a "parts hold" message 2 to 3 days in (sometimes way longer) with zero information about when you'll get your stuff back. Count on waiting 3 to 4 weeks minimum. I've brought this up to management multiple times and they don't care one bit. The loaner program is a joke too - such a pain to deal with from a company that clearly doesn't want to help. I've been shooting Nikon for over 15 years and sent in a ton of cameras and lenses for repairs. Paying for membership? Doesn't give you any real perks.
Used my neighbor's camera and hit an error I couldn't clear. Sent it to Nikon for repairs. Pre-paid everything including shipping. Now they're refusing to fix it without a receipt since it was bought overseas. It's been five years and there's no receipt. Apparently this error happens all the time based on what I found online, but now I'm stuck replacing the whole thing. To make it worse, they were condescending and didn't care about helping. Never buying Nikon again.
Writing about a used Nikon D600 I picked up a couple years back. Took me a while to get around to this review, but after checking it out today, I have to say it was hands down the worst camera I've ever used. Don't get me wrong though, I still really like Nikon cameras overall. I bought it used from a solid, trustworthy camera shop. As a Nikon Professional Services member, I feel I should share what the warranty and repair experience has been like. My gear collection tops fifteen thousand dollars and is all Nikon, so I think my feedback matters. Getting through the warranty repair process is surprisingly difficult. Recently I had a lens worth around four hundred dollars with a plastic ring that snapped off. Nikon turned down my claim saying the 12-month warranty had expired, despite me submitting the original receipt three different times proving it was still covered. After pushing back on a 20-minute call, they denied it again, this time claiming the lens had minor scuff marks that supposedly caused the damage. Meanwhile, Nikon markets their lenses as super durable, but the second there's a tiny cosmetic mark, they use it as an excuse to reject claims.
