Plastic zippers do break sometimes, and I've had this happen on a couple coats. But their kids jackets are excellent and can be passed down. Compared to other outdoor retailers, L.L.Bean items will fade and zippers might break, yet they keep you warm and dry for years. REI gear barely fades and won't break but costs more. Eddie Bauer fades and the fabric tears around zippers even if the zipper itself doesn't. When I need outdoor gear, L.L.Bean remains my choice.
