AbeBooks Savings Hacks
AbeBooks aggregates inventory from many independent booksellers. The same book may be available at different prices and conditions from different vendors, so compare options before purchasing to find the lowest base price before applying your promo code.
Watch RetailCoupons.com regularly for seasonal or category-specific promotions from AbeBooks. Combining a site-wide promo code with a specific sale period can maximize your savings on bulk book orders.
Acceptable and good condition used books cost significantly less than new copies. If you are flexible on condition, filtering your search results can lower your base price, making your promo code savings even more meaningful.
AbeBooks runs periodic promotions through its affiliate programs. Check back to RetailCoupons.com often to catch rotating deals and ensure you never miss a discount opportunity on your next purchase.
AbeBooks Shipping Policy
Shipping costs and delivery times vary depending on the seller, book destination, and shipping method selected at checkout. Most book retailers offer standard ground shipping and may provide faster options at an additional charge. Review the shipping details for your specific order before completing purchase, as different sellers may have different policies.
AbeBooks Returns & Refund Policy
Return policies for books purchased on AbeBooks depend on the individual seller, as the marketplace connects buyers with independent booksellers worldwide. Carefully review the seller's return policy listed on the item page before buying, and contact the seller directly if you need to initiate a return after purchase.

AbeBooks Reviews
AbeBooks receives a highly polarized rating of 2.9 out of 5 from 22 shoppers, with 50 percent giving one star and 45 percent giving five stars. Negative reviews consistently cite serious issues with shipping delays, unresponsive customer service, and order fulfillment problems. Several shoppers report paying for expedited delivery that took significantly longer than promised, with some orders delayed by weeks or months. Account status issues and difficulty reaching support are also recurring complaints. Order processing and backend system problems have left some customers frustrated even after receiving their books.
While nearly half of reviewers appear satisfied with AbeBooks, the prevalence and severity of complaints from the other half suggest significant operational challenges. Issues range from shipping timelines that far exceed stated estimates to customer service responsiveness that leaves customers unable to resolve problems or cancellations. The platform's ability to manage seller accountability and provide timely communication during order delays appears to be a substantial concern for dissatisfied shoppers.
I'm really upset with how AbeBooks handles their system backend. My order got delayed and then refunded. Once the book finally showed up at my door, I reached out wanting to pay for it since I wanted to do the right thing. They charged my card, but my account still displays 'Refunded' as the status. The tracking clearly shows 'Delivered' but the website says 'Refunded', making it look like I kept the book without paying, which feels insulting when I actually tried to do the honest thing. Customer support said their system doesn't have the capability to change the status to 'Paid'. For a company this large, it's unacceptable that they can't fix a basic data issue. It's frustrating when you're trying to be ethical and get met with technical failures instead.
Not impressed. Customer service is terrible and shipping takes forever. I paid extra for expedited delivery that was supposed to take 3 to 5 days, but eight days later and still nothing. Haven't heard from the seller or the platform in several days. Definitely avoid if you need your books anytime soon or expect any kind of support.

Ordered my books on December 5th and was told they'd arrive within 5 to 14 days. They didn't show up until January 5th, a full month later. When I asked about it on December 11th, they said the shipment would go out the following Saturday. I emailed back asking to cancel since it was taking so long, and they responded that they're working on adding faster shipping options but can't offer it yet, with typical delivery being 4 to 14 business days through USPS Media Mail. It took 8 more days just to get picked up and wasn't actually sent until December 30th. The tracking showed it sat in a distribution center for days. Finally landed at my California address on January 5th. Here's the problem though: they're a big operation with expensive software and systems, so this slowness is inexcusable. I needed those books for my students in a class I teach, and they had to wait over two weeks. What really got me was never getting a delivery confirmation notification either.

Mostly read ebooks now, but I like keeping some reference materials and classic favorites in physical form. AbeBooks had exactly what I was looking for, straightforward ordering, and one of my books arrived yesterday in excellent condition for way less than expected. Really satisfied with the experience.

This platform enables sellers to discriminate against customers. A bookseller accepted my order and then told me straight up they wouldn't send it because of my race. AbeBooks did nothing about it and apparently thinks this is acceptable behavior.

I ordered a book from a seller called Gyan Books that was supposed to arrive on August 27th, 2025, but it never showed up. The shipping carrier claimed it was out for delivery with my local post office, but when I checked with them directly, they said it never arrived. I tried to get my money back but wasn't able to request a refund until August 30th. After reaching out to both AbeBooks and Gyan Books again, they told me I'd have to wait another week just to process the refund, and then another 3 to 5 business days on top of that for the money to actually transfer. At this point I'm pretty sure my $45 is gone. I won't be trusting AbeBooks again. I can't get anyone to give me my refund.
