First visit with my young child was not a good experience. From the beginning, the staff kept trying to push optional add-ons on us. We're talking about a light-up heart, scent options, voice recordings. My daughter just wanted a simple stuffed animal. Then at checkout they started in with a backpack, a special box, and acted surprised we didn't want a bag. The kid just wanted to hold her new toy! And throughout all this upselling, they conveniently never mentioned the actual prices. I'm sure other parents getting pressured into buying stuff get some shocking surprises at the register. At the checkout, the cashier also tried really hard to get me to pay five dollars for a ten dollar discount on my next visit. I said no, but they kept asking like I didn't understand. And while I was paying, they asked for my email address saying it was for my receipt. Turns out they enrolled me in their marketing list without asking. Now I get multiple promotional emails from them every single day. That's not right, and I won't be spending my money there anymore based on principle.

The prices are way too high for what you get. If you're considering the scent add-on, skip it. It's basically undetectable once it's inside the toy, so your money just goes to waste. Similarly, before buying outfits, make absolutely sure they're actually sized for the character you pick. I got a hat for a capybara plushie and it won't stay on the head at all. That was another pointless purchase. When you're paying these kinds of prices, the quality should be better. I don't think I'll buy from them again.

I bought a Harry Potter Slytherin bear at the Oxford Street location as a gift for my niece. On the train ride home, I realized I'd been charged for two light-up wands at ten dollars each when I only purchased one. I called the shop using the receipt number and got transferred to their support team. After spending nearly an hour on the phone and sending them a photo of the receipt, I was assured I'd get a ten dollar refund. But then I got an email saying they didn't have enough proof to process it. This company seems to look for any reason not to give refunds. They come across as really greedy and unwilling to make things right. I'm quite upset about this experience.

Do yourself a favor and never buy expedited shipping from Build A Bear. They move at a snail's pace and their customer support team is absolutely terrible. I've been a loyal shopper for years, buying for kids and grandkids alike. But after what happened with my order this month, I'm done. Won't be going back.

We weren't aware that the birthday package had to take place during the birthday month specifically. The company gave me a really disappointing response and refused to take any accountability. I'm honestly too ashamed to give this to my grandson for Christmas considering what I paid for it. I really wish I could share a photo of what arrived.

When I contacted their support team, they got back to me super fast and were very professional about fixing things right away. I grabbed the popular spring green frog back in late February. Delivery was fairly fast, but honestly when I opened the box I was pretty let down at first. One arm is stuffed way too full, the eyes look crooked, the mouth isn't symmetrical and the stitching in several spots is pretty sloppy. Under normal circumstances I might overlook this kind of thing. But paying almost twenty dollars for a poorly constructed toy just didn't feel right. Since that's quite a bit of cash to spend on a toy, I really expected better quality overall. I will say though, I don't regret the purchase when I think about it differently. Maybe the imperfections just make it one-of-a-kind, or that's how it's supposed to be. Either way I'm happy with it. I just wanted to give people a heads up that it won't be perfectly made. Bottom line, I think you should grab one. It's adorable, super soft, and totally iconic.
