Shopping at Acme these days has been disappointing as the chain continues to decline. They used to be the top grocery store in the Philadelphia region, but now competitors beat them out easily. Most of their prices are way higher than the competition. Their advertisements don't help their case either. It seems like they invest more in online pickup and delivery options and are willing to offer better deals to that smaller group of customers, while ignoring the regular in-store shoppers who actually spend more money and buy impulse items. Poor leadership decisions, including the whole merger situation, show that management just doesn't have a clue. They only seem to care about pleasing the private equity investors behind the scenes.

I was in South Philadelphia recently and stopped by the store on 19th and Johnson. I asked the meat manager for advice on what cut to use for braciole, and he was wonderful. He took the time to explain the different options available and even shared his personal recipe with me. Super knowledgeable and courteous.

The pharmacist at my local store was fantastic yesterday when I needed help understanding my new insurance coverage options. I'm really happy I transferred my prescriptions there. Being newly retired, I've had a lot of adjustments to figure out, and the guidance made a real difference.

I go to the Centreville, MD location regularly. The staff is generally solid and the store seems well-run, although the deli staff could be friendlier to customers who don't buy their pre-packaged items. One thing I've noticed is that at several checkout lanes, employees seem really eager to help customers skip past those survey prompts by entering a top satisfaction rating. It feels like something management is pushing to boost their corporate satisfaction scores, which comes across as dishonest.

The app has serious issues. On the positive side, updating contact information and address is pretty straightforward. But trying to search for basic stuff like frozen lasagna gets you nowhere. The whole thing feels ancient and abandoned. I rarely see anyone using it for grocery delivery anymore, and Giant is the one handling most orders. You can't search properly, you can't get groceries delivered through it, and I'm genuinely confused about what the point of it even is. Honestly seems like nobody at the company is paying attention to the app anymore.

I've shopped at this store for years, but lately I'm starting to feel like it's lost what made it special. The quality of the meat department used to be a reason to stick with them, yet that's just not true anymore. A lot of my friends have stopped going because the prices are way too high. I've joked with them that it should be called "Ask Me Markets" since they don't seem willing to reward the people who've been shopping there the longest. I'm only half a mile away from Food Lion and Lidl, and when I go there, I can walk out with way more groceries for my money. At this point, Acme is really just somewhere I grab a few specific things from like their in-house French bread and their 4 for $19.99 deals. When are they going to get their act together?

Had a great experience at the Acme in Media, PA today. There was an employee named Gary working that day, and he was incredibly helpful with everything I needed. He really went out of his way to assist both me and my mother with whatever we asked. Gary deserves some serious recognition for the service he provided!
