They used to be the top grocery store in the Philadelphia region, but now competitors beat them out easily. Most of their prices are way higher than the competition. Their advertisements don't help their case either. It seems like they invest more in online pickup and delivery options and are willing to offer better deals to that smaller group of customers, while ignoring the regular in-store shoppers who actually spend more money and buy impulse items. Poor leadership decisions, including the whole merger situation, show that management just doesn't have a clue. They only seem to care about pleasing the private equity investors behind the scenes.
I was in South Philadelphia recently and stopped by the store on 19th and Johnson. I asked the meat manager for advice on what cut to use for braciole, and he was wonderful. He took the time to explain the different options available and even shared his personal recipe with me. Super knowledgeable and courteous.

Had a great experience at the Acme in Media, PA today. There was an employee named Gary working that day, and he was incredibly helpful with everything I needed. He really went out of his way to assist both me and my mother with whatever we asked. Gary deserves some serious recognition for the service he provided!
