Aspen Dental Reviews
Aspen Dental receives highly polarized feedback from shoppers. Five-star reviewers consistently praise the quality of clinical care, noting professional and competent hygienists and dentists who conduct thorough examinations. Patients also appreciate the willingness to work with insurance plans and report being satisfied with treatment outcomes and pricing for completed procedures. However, one-star reviewers report significant operational issues, including extremely long wait times (up to two hours) despite confirmed appointments and concerns about aggressive upselling of expensive treatment plans (quoted over 1600 dollars for deep cleaning and consultations) that some patients found questionable.
The stark divide in ratings suggests that patient experiences depend heavily on location and specific visit circumstances. While clinical competence appears consistent, scheduling management and treatment recommendation practices are sources of frustration for a meaningful portion of patients. Shoppers considering Aspen Dental should weigh strong clinical reviews against documented concerns about wait times and treatment cost recommendations.
I'm so glad I chose Aspen Dental at their Hall Road and Hayes location. This place has been a game changer for me after years of neglecting my teeth. Back when I was hit in the mouth with a baseball almost 50 years ago, I basically gave up on my dental health and dealt with pain every single day. Finally I decided to do something about it and found Dr. Donovan Semma here. I honestly can't say enough about how happy I am now. The facility, the staff, and all the procedures were fantastic. From my first appointment to finishing everything took just over a week, and I couldn't be more thrilled!
I had a 10:30 appointment scheduled and I got there early at 10 in the morning. I sat in the waiting room for two hours before I just left. This is completely unacceptable behavior from any business. This place needs to seriously reconsider how it operates. The staff is very unprofessional. Even with a confirmed appointment, they won't get you seen. I would strongly recommend staying away and finding a reputable dental office elsewhere.
My visit to Aspen Dental in the New York area was really enjoyable. The staff was nothing but polite and helpful, and everyone conducted themselves in a professional manner. I'm happy with the treatment I got and the reasonable pricing for the work done. I plan to continue using them for my dental needs.
I visited Aspen Dental earlier this summer to address pain I was experiencing in a back tooth. They graciously saw me and accepted my insurance. They took x rays and told me I needed a deep cleaning treatment plan. Even though it seemed odd to me, I went along with it, but being quoted over 1600 dollars for just two cleanings and a consultation with their endodontist to determine the source of my pain felt expensive. They asked me to pay that amount up front. Remember, this is with insurance paying part of it. My wife has identical coverage and got her cleaning at no cost, yet they charged me significantly more, and each session was only about 15 minutes, which didn't match the high price. After seeing the specialist, they still couldn't explain my pain. She said it could be a crack, I might benefit from a crown, or possibly an extraction would be necessary. I declined those options. Fortunately, the pain went away by the time I saw the endodontist. About a month later, I began receiving bills in the mail despite being told everything was settled. The initial bill was just over 900 dollars, then they reduced it to 430. I called numerous times to get this straightened out, but they kept saying they were still coordinating with my insurance. When I called the last time, they finally acknowledged there was still something wrong with my account.
I went to Aspen Dental last summer because I was having some pain in one of my back teeth. They were willing to see me and worked with my insurance plan. After taking an x ray, they recommended a deep cleaning. I agreed to it even though the price tag of over 1600 dollars for two cleaning sessions plus a visit with an endodontist seemed really high just to figure out what was causing the pain. I paid that amount upfront, and keep in mind this was with insurance coverage. My wife has the same plan and got her cleaning for free, so I questioned why mine was so expensive, especially since each session only lasted about 15 minutes and didn't seem to justify the cost. I went to see the specialist, but she couldn't pinpoint why I was having pain. She mentioned it could be a crack in the tooth, that I might need a crown, or possibly an extraction. I decided to pass on any additional procedures. By the time I saw the endodontist, my pain had actually gone away. Then about four weeks later, bills started coming in the mail even though I was told everything had been paid for. The first bill was over 900 dollars, and then they adjusted it down to 430. I called several times trying to resolve this, but kept getting told they were still working with my insurance company. The last conversation I had, they finally admitted there was still an issue with my charges.
The hygienist did an excellent job. She was upbeat, genuinely cared, handled everything with professionalism, demonstrated real competence, and got everything done efficiently. Dr. Mullen made a point to stop by and examine my gums and teeth, check my jaw lymph nodes, and have a quick conversation with me.
The hygienist was outstanding. She was friendly, genuinely cared about my care, acted like a true professional, and was both skilled and efficient. Dr. Mullen also came by to check on my gums and teeth, felt my jaw lymph nodes, and spent a few minutes chatting with me.
I had an appointment that I confirmed over the phone with someone at the front desk. When I showed up on the scheduled day, I was told they had no record of me coming in. I showed the receptionist my appointment confirmation on my phone, and she checked with a manager. Both of them insisted I wasn't on the schedule and offered to squeeze me in another time instead. I've been coming to this office for years without any issues until this happened. That experience was enough for me to take my business elsewhere and find a different dental practice.
The team at this Aspen Dental location in New York was extremely welcoming and understanding. The office was spotless and the whole experience was basically pain free. Everyone working there was knowledgeable about what they were doing and actually cared about my comfort. I'll definitely be coming back.
I came in with a painful tooth at a time when their computer systems were having issues for a couple of days. There wasn't much they could do about the technical problems, but they got me in the very next day and handled everything so well. The whole team was patient and skilled, and I barely felt anything during the extraction. They kept checking on me throughout the whole thing to make sure I was doing okay. The receptionist up front was also really sweet. I really appreciate it.
I've been a patient here for almost two years now and I plan to stay. The staff always greets me warmly and they know what they're doing, which has really helped me get over my anxiety about dental visits. Ms. Rathi has been instrumental in making my teeth look better and brighter. I'm actually looking forward to my next appointment now.
I want to give a huge shout out to everyone at Aspen Dental. My first appointment here was fantastic. Every single person on the team, from the moment I walked in until I left, treated me with such kindness and patience. You all made me feel comfortable and welcome. I'm really excited about my next visit in a couple of weeks. Thank you so much for being absolutely amazing!
Had a great experience at the Aspen Dental location in Evansville. I want to especially thank Dr. Smith for being so reassuring and gentle with me throughout my procedure. All the dental assistants, especially Jessica and Rachel, went above and beyond. Rachel actually stayed right by my side to make sure I was comfortable after having 10 teeth extracted. When I came back the next day for my follow up appointment, Jessica was there to help with anything I needed. At my 6 week appointment when they added the soft liner, I was experiencing some discomfort and Jessica gave me something to numb the area that really made a difference. The billing team also helped me figure out my payment options. I've always been pretty nervous about going to the dentist, but this place changed that for me. Thank you all so much for your support and compassion.
I had a really great experience at the Aspen Dental office in the Chicago area. I was fortunate to have Dr. Salgado take care of me, and she really worked with me to make sure I got the exact type of dental care I was looking for. She's compassionate, incredibly patient, talented, and very efficient. They use up to date techniques and state of the art tools that make the experience much more comfortable. The whole staff was fantastic and treated me wonderfully throughout my time there.
