I normally don't write reviews, but after dealing with Assouline I felt compelled to warn others. This is genuinely the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Setting aside the initial shipping problems, even after paying a fortune for expedited shipping with zero help from their team, the return process was a nightmare. They advertise exchanges right on their site, but they conveniently leave out the part where you have to cover your own shipping costs since they won't provide a label, which cost me close to fifty dollars. When they finally do respond, they're unhelpful and dismissive. It took me nearly two weeks just to get someone on the phone, then another two weeks after my return arrived at their warehouse before I got my store credit. They showed zero compassion when I asked for help and kept making excuses about the delay, even though they could track that my package had been delivered.

I have questions about their products and services, but there's no one there to help. They simply don't respond to inquiries.

Never experienced customer service this bad. Beyond rude, and after over four months I still haven't gotten a single response from anyone on their team. It's absolutely unacceptable. The books themselves are great, but dealing with the people there is terrible. I've completely stopped ordering from them and now buy from other retailers instead. I don't want to pay their outrageous shipping fees or deal with their lack of communication. I've tried everything, too, reaching out via email, social media, and their contact form. Nothing. Total disaster of an operation, and the staff is incredibly unprofessional.

These books are way overhyped and this publisher is way overhyped too. They market them as fancy coffee table pieces, and sure they look attractive on the surface, but there's really nothing substantial inside. You're paying top dollar for books that don't deliver much beyond appearance from a publisher that doesn't deserve the hype.

I shopped with them back in 2019 and placed orders again last year and recently. I'm really impressed by the improvements they've made to their website and their book selection has gotten better too. My most recent delivery was a bit slower than I would have liked, but the upgrades they've implemented across the board are remarkable. If they keep pushing forward, especially with their shipping and delivery times, I think they'll become even stronger.

Bought a gift book for my wife, then realized I'd already gotten her the same one. Since they don't offer refunds, I returned the sealed book for store credit. Honestly, it seems like they just don't care much about keeping customers happy or making sure quality products reach people. I really do love what they publish, so this is disappointing.

You'll find yourself wanting everything in there. Their travel photography books like Blue Coast and Capri are absolutely gorgeous, and New York by New York is a must-have. What really sets them apart are their book stands, which are far superior to typical coffee table displays. You can spend hours browsing, immersing yourself in different worlds. Yes, the prices are steep and you're making an investment, but for those with an appreciation for exceptional design and content, it's worth it.
