  • Verify the code has not expired by checking RetailCoupons.com for the current offer list and expiration date.

BJ's Wholesale Club receives polarized feedback, with roughly equal proportions of one-star and five-star ratings. Reviewers who gave top scores appreciate the warehouse club model and membership benefits, though specific praise is limited in the available reviews. However, negative reviews highlight significant recurring issues: produce quality problems (rotting fruit in bulk purchases), inconsistent customer service ranging from unhelpful to dismissive, automatic membership renewal charges without prior notification, aggressive bag-checking policies at exit that customers find invasive, and prices perceived as higher than competitors like Costco and Sam's Club. Customer support responsiveness and follow-through on promised resolutions also appear problematic based on shopper complaints.

The most consistent complaint centers on customer service failures across multiple touchpoints: in-store staff refusing assistance, phone lines going unanswered, and representatives making promises that don't materialize. Product quality issues with bulk produce and billing practices that lack transparency are additional friction points. While some shoppers remain loyal members, the negative experiences documented suggest potential vulnerabilities in operations and customer relations that may warrant attention.

I bought the 10 pound bag of oranges twice in two weeks and both times more than half were rotten. In all my years as a member I'd never bought produce from here, and this experience shows why. Three weeks ago I got my first bag and figured it was a fluke so I just accepted the loss. Last week I bought another bag and got basically the same result. Out of 12 oranges, 8 were rotted. I'm returning them for a refund today. Nobody is checking the produce before it goes out and it shows. Don't bother buying any fresh items from BJs.

I had a terrible experience at the Myrtle Beach location yesterday. I arrived with a nearly flat tire just after 4 and asked the manager for help, explaining I had my daughter in the car. He basically said that wasn't his concern and that he was trying to leave. I asked if he could put my spare tire on since I didn't have tools, and he told me to go to one of the other tire shops nearby. When I said I'd report him, he actually laughed. An older employee helped me out of the goodness of his heart, but it's unacceptable that a manager would treat a woman with her child that way. I'm canceling my membership.

I've been a member for over 7 years but I'm done now. Recently they've started checking people's personal bags and purses at the exit without warning or any legal justification. That's not okay and it feels like a violation of basic rights. On top of that, prices have gone up multiple times. I only went along with the bag check because I didn't want to get the door worker in trouble, but this store clearly doesn't respect its customers anymore. I visited the Cutler Bay location and that was my last trip there.

I'm giving one star because BJs charged my credit card $60 for a membership renewal without asking me first. I only found out after the money was already gone. They should notify people way ahead of time and get permission before automatically renewing anything. When I tried to fix it, nobody answered the phone line, so I went to the store but they said I had to call the membership department. Eventually they processed a refund through some automated system and gave me a confirmation number, but the refund never actually showed up on my card. This resulted in late fees and interest charges that I shouldn't have had to pay. I had to dispute it with my credit card company to get my money back.

I ran into a problem with one of their gas deals and had to work through multiple phone calls and messages to get it fixed. An online rep told me they'd make an exception and honor my promotion even though my purchase was on two separate receipts instead of one. It shouldn't have been that complicated to resolve something so straightforward.

Customer support has lied to me and followed up with emails that promised something different than what they actually delivered. Their prices are higher than Costco and Sam's Club. If you want good customer service at a warehouse club, go to Costco instead.

David R.Jan 30, 2026

Their customer support lied to me about what they'd do. I had email confirmation but they didn't follow through. Their prices run higher than Costco and Sam's Club, and honestly those places have way better customer service.

Monica R.Nov 29, 2025

Their phone support is absolutely awful. My modular couch showed up with one damaged section and I sent pictures requesting just that piece be replaced. Instead they said I had to return all three sections for a refund. I explained that wasn't necessary since only one was damaged, but then they claimed they didn't have a replacement even though I could see it online. They eventually offered 10% off but then changed their minds and said I had to return the whole thing for them to inspect it first. The constant back and forth and changing the rules was infuriating. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

The store itself is fine but prices aren't always competitive. The issue is with a credit card promotion they mailed me. They said I'd get 50 cents off a gallon for three months if I applied and got approved within the specified window. I followed all their instructions and got approved, but that discount never showed up. After six weeks of phone calls and emails, I'm just getting unhelpful answers repeated back to me. It's clear they're not trustworthy about honoring what they promise. The card's collecting dust in my wallet now.

Richard C.Sep 26, 2025

The store itself is fine but be careful because their prices aren't always the best. My real complaint is about a promotion they sent me for their credit card. They promised 50 cents off per gallon for three months if I applied and got approved within their timeframe. I did exactly what they asked, got the card approved, and the discount never came through. I've been dealing with this for over 6 weeks now and customer service just keeps giving me the runaround with the same canned responses. I don't trust this company to keep their word, so the card is just sitting in a drawer somewhere.

This is a total ripoff! I paid $120 for a membership because the site advertised free same-day deliveries on orders over $50, but what they don't tell you upfront is that's only 2 deliveries a year. When I tried to get my money back and downgrade, they refused to refund my card and wanted to mail me a check that would take 6 weeks. Meanwhile they had no problem charging the card for the membership and food orders. I called my bank and they handled it in 4 days because apparently BJs does this constantly. Don't waste your time with them, go with Costco instead.

Rebecca S.Apr 25, 2025

Judy at the store went above and beyond to help me today. I wanted to buy a TV using my rewards points, but they weren't showing up on her computer. Instead of giving up, she called customer service multiple times and stayed professional throughout the whole process until she got my points to appear. She even took notes for me on when to come back if needed. It's employees like her that make the difference in how much you appreciate a business.

These cookies are absolutely incredible and way too addictive! They're so huge and delicious that I can't stop eating them. My stomach gets full pretty fast, but then I'm back for more of these massive treats. They taste amazing and I keep coming back to BJs for them. Fair warning though, they're so good you might gain some weight!

Lawrence D.Mar 10, 2025

Costco and Sam's Club are so much better than this place. BJs feels like a tiny, poorly stocked version of Sam's. When they first opened they had excited employees everywhere which made it feel special, but now the staff moves slower than molasses. The positive side is there's plenty of parking and it's never crowded on weekends. The downside is everything else. Checkout takes forever with basically one staffed lane while self checkout is broken because nobody comes to help. An employee stood around watching self checkout not work for 15 or 20 minutes, calling for help repeatedly, but did nothing themselves. Maybe they have too many managers and not enough actual workers.

Expired items on the shelves and bad customer service when trying to address it.
