Great Wolf Lodge Reviews
Great Wolf Lodge receives sharply divided opinions from guests, with roughly half giving it one star while a smaller portion rate it highly. Shoppers who had positive experiences praise the attentive staff, kid-friendly atmosphere, and variety of activities, particularly the indoor water park. However, many reviewers report serious issues including unexpected charges and refund disputes, uncleanliness throughout the facility, non-refundable deposits being retained without justification, and inflexible cancellation policies that guests describe as unfair.
The most common complaints center on billing transparency and refund practices, with multiple guests describing confusing charges, difficulty obtaining refunds for cancellations, and deposits withheld without clear explanation. Cleanliness concerns also appear repeatedly, with reports of food debris and general filth in common areas. While families with young children sometimes find value in the activities and staff attentiveness, the financial friction and maintenance issues lead many to characterize the experience as poor value for the price.
The staff here really impressed us. We accidentally left something behind, and two managers went out of their way to help us find it and make sure everything was taken care of. Plus the kids absolutely love this place. It's like a massive amusement park built just for children instead of a grown up casino!
This place is awful, absolutely terrible. I went to great wolf in Webster and they overcharged me. When I asked for a refund, they gave me some ridiculous explanation. They're telling me that my husband paid with his card in his name, so they refunded his payment to my card in my name, which caused them to charge me again. That makes zero sense. Why would you refund one payment just to charge again? Second, you can't legally refund someone else's payment to a different person's account. That's fraud.
This whole experience felt like a money grabbing scheme. The place was incredibly filthy. Food was scattered all over the floors, even in the stairwells. We were celebrating my son's sixteenth birthday and got the birthday package plus extras. I was really excited to experience the interactive wand game with him for the first time. Last time I went I followed him around helping, so we were both stoked about the new experience. Unfortunately the new game isn't nearly as fun or challenging as the old one. The dragon battle in the previous game was actually tough. Getting through all the quests required real effort. We finished this version in just one day and it's literally the only game available now. Massively disappointing since we were both pumped about the game. The building was freezing cold too, especially the hallways where doors were left wide open. Even the water park area felt cold. The arcade games cost way too much. I dropped a bunch of cash there, and after my son won thousands of tickets, there weren't any decent prize options for him at the higher level. They've also started charging for parking now, which used to be complimentary. The whole place just feels like it's turned into a cash machine without the fun factor anymore. We used to absolutely love visiting here. I was really pumped to bring him for his birthday this time, but we left totally let down.
I reserved a room at Grey Wolf Lodge but couldn't make the trip, so I cancelled three days ahead. I requested my refund and they turned me down. They owe me 589 dollars and are refusing to pay. This place doesn't deserve any stars at all. They're basically thieves. They're so desperate for cash that they steal from the people who stay with them.
We brought our ten year old twin grandchildren for a three day visit at Great Wolf Lodge in Concord NC, and it turned out to be a really nice trip overall. The team members were awesome and really welcoming. There's tons of activities for kids, though they basically lived in the indoor water park since it was so hot outside. You could see staff everywhere, and they were clearly watching carefully. The lifeguards switched shifts regularly and stayed alert the whole time, not distracted by phones. The guests were a nice mix and everyone got along well. The kids had fun with Magic Quest, the game room, laser tag, and VR experiences. The dining options were fine, nothing special, but the breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from including an omelet bar. The wood fired grill was kind of underwhelming for the price. Everything's expensive these days, but my wife and I thought it offered good value. We stayed in a Wolf Den room which worked perfectly for us. Would've been five stars if the food was better and prices lower.
We drove across two states with three children under age four to start a four day, three night vacation at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. We arrived a day behind schedule, which we accepted as lost vacation time. When I approached the check in desk, they told me that because we missed the first night, our reservation was automatically cancelled and our room was given to someone else. No one from Great Wolf Lodge even called to let us know, even though we'd been getting plenty of promotional messages from them leading up to our visit. On top of that, no refund was issued. The hotel is completely booked, so there wasn't even an option to pay for a room for the evening and sort things out tomorrow. Great Wolf Lodge has charged us for a room we never got to use, and they also charged another guest for that same room. Selling the same room twice is completely unethical business. I prevented my crying kids from having to watch me explain that their vacation wasn't happening. Now we're making the long drive back home, wasted a week off work, upset kids, angry parents, and a ruined family vacation.
I worked in the sales department for great wolf lodge during the July 4th 2024 sale event. We were putting in more than ten hours every single day since the commission structure seemed really good. We were expected to go above and beyond, and we kept working right through the last day of the sale. Then they informed us they wouldn't pay the commissions because they changed the agreement at the last second. They never gave me my 550 dollars in commissions, which has been devastating for my family. They outsource their staff through companies in South America now, and I heard they're using a company based in Medellin Colombia.
Avoid booking through memberdeals at all costs! I purchased a one night stay at great wolf lodge in Mason, OH for my disabled veteran discount to celebrate my Daughter's 5th birthday. Since winter storm Cora was approaching, we waited until the last minute to assess the weather before contacting the hotel and memberdeals with our concerns. Great wolf lodge said they'd give us a full refund, but then told us to contact memberdeals since we booked through them. Memberdeals assured us they would cancel and request a 100% refund from great wolf lodge since this was completely out of our hands. They set up a case for us too. However, I got an email saying great wolf lodge rejected the refund. Not only did we miss our stay, but we lost $550 for one night. I won't be using memberdeals or great wolf lodge ever again. Be careful or you might get ripped off too.
This is the worst water park in the Poconos area. They charge a parking fee even if you arrive by taxi or public transportation. Getting them on the phone is nearly impossible. You typically wait thirty to forty eight minutes each time you call. They take down your info and then nothing happens. They just keep sending you the invoice over and over. The customer service is really bad.
We spent Christmas 2024 at the Williamsburg, VA location and had a pretty awesome experience, though wow was it ever packed! Everyone in the family had a fantastic time, particularly in the water park. If you want that summery vibe during the winter months, this place is perfect for you. You won't regret it! And yes, I actually used the word shant, haha!
I'm really upset about what happened when we arrived. We had to stand around for 20 minutes without explanation. We gave our confirmation number to the front desk and the staff member pulled up our reservation right away. However, the manager Andrea sent her to the back to verify it again before giving us our wrist bands. Then Andrea claimed she couldn't find our reservation even though she was standing right there when we showed her our email confirmation and the bank transaction. She asked for the last four digits of my husband's card. When he provided them, she demanded to see his ID to prove we actually paid, even after we'd already shown her all the proof. No other families around us had to go through any of this. As an African American family hoping to celebrate our son's birthday, the whole experience felt offensive and discriminatory. It seemed like the manager assumed we were stealing because we're a Black family and the young woman helping us is Black too.
I spent two days at Great Wolf Lodge in Webster Texas recently. I'd been to another Great Wolf Lodge years ago when my children were small at the Ohio location. I found several things to be disappointing during this visit. For one, I didn't like having to pay for parking. Additionally, they advertised adult hot springs but none were available. My room was listed as having three televisions, but only two were present. Furthermore, my husband had recent knee replacement surgery and the tub had no anti slip strips, and the gel provided actually made the tub very slippery. Also, while I understand the hiring market is competitive, staff should be trained on proper terminology for hot tub and jacuzzi since they're the same thing. A QR code showing the floor plan would have been useful.
I spent two days at Great Wolf Lodge in Webster Texas. I'd visited a Great Wolf Lodge years back when my kids were younger in Ohio. A few things disappointed me. First, I wasn't happy about paying for parking. Second, they advertised hot springs for adults, but there weren't any. Third, my room was supposed to have three TVs but only had two. Fourth, my husband had recent knee surgery and there were no non slip pads in the bathtub, plus the cleaning gel they gave us made it dangerously slippery. Fifth, I understand staff options are limited, but it would help if they were trained better on terminology like hot tub and jacuzzi since those words mean the same thing. A QR map of the resort would've been helpful too.
I wouldn't recommend the Traverse City location. My latest visit was to take my kids to a local baseball game to celebrate a special wolf day and purchase day passes. Turns out the day passes don't actually exist. Nobody there has any idea what I'm talking about. I can't even get anyone at the location on the phone. My kids are pretty disappointed, I'll admit. Just for reference, four day passes would normally run 270 dollars. That's crazy expensive. Plus the promotion code advertised never worked.
