Mimi’s Cafe Reviews
Mimi's Cafe earns strong marks for consistency in homestyle cooking and breakfast offerings, with many shoppers praising the friendly, attentive service they receive from staff members across different locations. Reviewers frequently highlight the quality of menu staples like pot roast and breakfast items, and note that the restaurant maintains clean, well-maintained dining spaces. However, a meaningful minority of diners report that meals don't match the appeal of the menu descriptions, citing issues like watery eggs, insufficient hollandaise, soggy toast, and undercooked potatoes served cold instead of hot.
While most customers indicate they would return and recommend the restaurant, the execution of certain dishes appears inconsistent. Some guests receive exactly what they expect from the homestyle menu, while others find the actual plating and preparation falls short of menu promises. Service quality tends to be a bright spot, with multiple reviewers naming specific staff members for going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
No matter which Mimi's location I visit around the country, the homestyle cooking and customer service are consistently great. Plus their breakfast menu is solid. I'd write more, but honestly just thinking about their pot roast has me craving it so bad I need to head out and grab some food right now!
The menu here looks fantastic on paper. The descriptions and photos are really appetizing, but honestly the actual food just doesn't deliver. The Eggs Benedict came out watery with barely any hollandaise and the toast was soggy. The potatoes were tough and cold when they should have been hot and crispy on the outside with tender insides. Their crème brûlée has such a thin soft top that it won't crack like it's supposed to. The French Dip was a mess too, they used low quality chewy bread with deli meat straight out of the package that still had the folds in it like nobody bothered to separate the slices. The au jus was basically flavorless and cold. Don't get me started on their quiches and pot pies either. Every pie crust is soft and floppy on the sides and mushy on the bottom, so forget about getting that nice flaky texture. The omelets have a tough outer layer. Honestly most of the dishes taste cold and reheated. The apple dessert is almost acceptable I guess, but again the crust just isn't right. I did like the cinnamon apples side but $4 for three bites feels wrong. We've given Mimi's plenty of chances to live up to what the menu promises, but they just can't seem to pull it off. It's a pretty place that could definitely be packed with customers, but the food quality is just not there.
Our server April took excellent care of us, stopping by frequently to make sure everything was good. The food was fantastic and we really appreciated her attentiveness.
Our food runner Braxton was honestly the friendliest person working that day and made our experience great. I hope management gives her some recognition for her excellent attitude. I actually wanted to give her a little something extra but unfortunately they never told her I was looking to do that.
Had an amazing dinner with incredible meals and really attentive service from our server. All three of us are already planning to come back for their breakfast offerings.
This place is fantastic. The food was delicious, everything was spotless, and the staff was wonderful. Seriously would give it a 10 out of 10 if I could because the whole experience was just top notch.
Had a great server named Liz who made our visit special. Plus the food itself was top notch.
Went to Mimi's on Christmas Eve to grab some gift cards. Most restaurants run holiday promotions for gift card purchases, and even the Applebee's next door had one going. When I asked about it, the staff basically brushed me off. First employee ignored me, second one said he'd check with management, and the manager just flat out declined. Disappointed, I headed across town to Black Bear Diner instead. They were slammed with people outside, but I was able to walk right up to the counter and buy $250 in gift cards plus get an extra $5 for every $25 I spent. I even called Mimi's afterward to complain, but never heard back.
The desserts and beverages were excellent, and the place was really clean. One thing I'd mention though is the wallpaper design isn't really kid-friendly. Otherwise the service was solid and the restrooms were nice.
My recent visit here was pretty different from all my previous times eating at their Florida locations. I used to enjoy being able to pick from different bread options. I'm not a big bread eater these days, but I was bummed to see that they've switched to only offering rolls instead of letting you get a slice from a loaf of bread. Now if you want loaf bread you have to buy an entire loaf, which is kind of annoying. It's not necessarily a dealbreaker, but it definitely took away from how much I enjoyed the meal compared to before. I probably won't be back for a while because of this shift. Just my two cents.
