UPDATE: I tracked this down by contacting my state office directly. It turned out the publication certificate had been filed properly. My accountant was the one who mentioned I'd need it, which is why I originally reached out. Everything actually was handled correctly, so I'm bumping my rating to three stars. That said, my first attempts to get information through phone and email went unanswered. Case resolved. I originally hired a local accountant to set up my LLC, but he outsourced the work to MyCorporation. I wanted to know which newspapers published my formation notice, but nobody got back to me. The accountant tried calling and was basically told they didn't have that info. The main line is just a general voicemail so you have to wait for callbacks. Turns out they contracted the publishing to an outside company. I had a tight deadline to get my publication certificate to the state, and up until my follow-up calls, I had heard nothing - though everyone had already been paid.

Really disappointed with the response times. The whole thing felt impersonal and uninviting.
