Paid extra for the highest level personal training certification and felt like I wasted my money. The program barely covered actual training fundamentals like program design, structure, technique, or how to adjust things for different clients and goals. I picked up some basic drills and anatomy facts, but that's about it. Not sure what the premium package was even supposed to include.

Terrible company with terrible customer service. Feels like a total scam.

Bought their group exercise certification package and later found out the AFAA certification is no longer accredited. The sales rep never mentioned this crucial detail. I asked for my money back and they said I'd have to wait fifteen days for the refund. Fifteen days passed and nothing. I followed up again and got the same response asking me to wait another fifteen days. I don't have money sitting around to just give away like that. This is seriously bad business. The fact that they didn't disclose losing their accreditation is one thing, but refusing to honor their refund promise is another. I'm going to keep posting about this until I get my money back. I'm really upset with a company that doesn't stand by what they promise. I can't afford to throw money away for nothing.

Complete rip-off artists. Worst company I've dealt with. They're just out to make a quick buck and don't care about anything else. Stay far away.

I'd really recommend looking elsewhere before going with them for personal trainer certification. The material is pretty basic and their business practices seem designed to squeeze more money out of you. When I showed up for my first exam, they wouldn't let me in because I forgot to bring my CPR cert, which was on me. Here's the thing though: they advertise three exam attempts, but that's misleading. You have to pay for retakes starting at $50 and going up to $199. Even worse, there's no online way to pay for retakes. You have to call them directly, and for me that meant pricey international phone charges adding up fast. I'm stuck on hold right now trying to pay for another attempt that should've been included. Do yourself a favor and grab the free info online instead. You'd get better value taking a class in person locally.

This used to be the top choice, but now it feels like a cash grab. The platform itself hasn't improved in years and remains bulky. They're not investing anything back into making it better anymore.

I renewed my CPT certification the day before it was set to expire. Sent in all my required continuing education credits and paid the renewal fee. Thought I was all set. Then NASM started emailing and calling saying my cert had already expired and they'd renew it for a late fee. I pushed back explaining the timing, but they insisted on the extra charge. A month passes and it's still showing as expired. One rep said I was being audited, another blamed a technical glitch and said IT would fix it. Called back again with my bank statement proving I paid for the renewal, and they claim the payment didn't process even though they accepted it and sent me an email confirmation. This is really stressful because it's affecting my ability to work and earn a living.

Ran into serious billing complications right out of the gate. My account manager charged me in full despite us discussing a monthly payment plan. Even after I corrected the payment setup and signed the installment contract, they promised a two-day refund that never came. After two weeks with zero contact back on my emails and direct messages, I had to get my bank involved. While my bank was trying to resolve it, they suspended my entire account without warning, even though I'd kept up with all my payments. This locked me out of the courses I'd already paid for. Their customer service defended the suspension when I finally got them on the phone and told me to cancel my bank's investigation. My bank is still waiting on NASM's response.

Had major problems from the start with their billing process. When I enrolled in a course, my account manager billed me the full amount upfront even though I'd agreed to a payment plan. I kept reminding her about the installment arrangement, but she kept charging me the full price. Once we corrected the payment method and got a contract in place for installments, they said the refund would arrive in two days. Ten days later with no refund and no response to my emails or messages, I had to call my bank for help. While my bank was working on getting my money back, NASM went ahead and locked my account even though I was current on all payments. I couldn't access my course materials anymore. When I finally got through to their team, they basically defended what they did and asked me to withdraw my complaint with the bank. The whole situation has been a nightmare.

Couldn't get any flexibility on test extensions when I needed it due to personal situations. Their policies were rigid with no wiggle room. Seems like the only thing that matters to them is collecting the payment.

Overhyped in my opinion. Way too much focus on corrective work. The cost is steep and the trainers I came across weren't impressive.

Just finished renewing my certification with them. Since I wasn't able to attend any in-person conferences due to pandemic circumstances, I tapped into Club Connect and did some virtual sessions with excellent instructors covering topics like neuromuscular stretching and yoga. Really great option to have available.

I've taken several courses through them and every experience has been fantastic. Starting with the CPT certification, everything was organized well and super easy to follow on their online platform. The newer courses came with an upgraded system that's much more interactive, which made studying a lot more enjoyable. Plus I really value that they show the science behind everything you're learning with solid research backing it up. Can't wait to get started on my next specialization!
