Newspapers Savings Hacks

Subscribe rather than buy single issues

Newspaper and magazine subscriptions typically offer better per-issue value than purchasing individual copies. Check if Newspapers.com offers subscription discounts alongside one-time purchase codes.

Stack codes with sale sections

Some retailers allow promo codes to apply to already-discounted items in clearance or sale sections. Browse Newspapers.com's reduced-price selections before applying your code.

Check back frequently for rotating offers

Newspapers.com regularly refreshes its affiliate deals, so visiting RetailCoupons.com multiple times per week increases your chances of finding new savings opportunities.

Buy during seasonal promotions

Books and magazines often have deeper discounts around back-to-school, holiday shopping, and new year seasons. Plan larger purchases for these peak promotional windows.

Newspapers Shipping Policy

Shipping costs and delivery times for books and magazines vary depending on the retailer's policies and the weight of your order. Most online retailers offer standard ground shipping at a flat rate or free shipping above a certain order total, though expedited options may be available at an additional cost. Always review Newspapers.com's shipping details during checkout to understand the estimated delivery timeframe and any associated fees.

Newspapers Returns & Refund Policy

Return policies for books and magazines can be more restrictive than other product categories due to the nature of printed materials. Most retailers have specific windows and conditions for returns, such as requiring items to be in original, unopened condition. Check Newspapers.com's customer service section or contact their support team directly to understand their exact return guidelines before making a purchase.

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Newspapers.com has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 1.7 out of 5 by 19 reviewers. The primary complaints center on billing practices, including unexpected charges, difficulty canceling subscriptions, refusal to issue refunds, and charges continuing after cancellation. Shoppers also report frustration with download caps (250 articles maximum), excessive security verification steps, unresponsive customer support, and incomplete newspaper archives that lack major local publications. Several reviewers characterize the service as deceptive and compare it unfavorably to scams.

A small minority of reviewers (16 percent) rate the service positively, though these positive reviews are not detailed in available feedback. The service appears to appeal primarily to those seeking historical newspaper archives, but the execution, billing transparency, and customer service have created significant dissatisfaction among the majority of users who have left ratings.

Now I get why everyone complains. Just another scammy outfit. Real companies don't bet on customers not realizing they're about to get charged and forcing you into contracts you don't want. My car warranty company treated me better than these guys.

Got charged twice in December 2024 because I apparently had 2 accounts set up, one with an old email and one with a newer one, though they both had my same name and address. Once I figured out what happened, I shut down one account and reached out asking for a refund. They told me they don't give refunds on cancelled subscriptions. That seemed really shady to me. Would tell anyone to avoid this place. After I reported it to the Better Business Bureau though, the parent company actually gave me my money back, so I'm bumping this up to 3 stars. Their customer service team really needs better training on how to handle situations like this.

They've put caps on downloads for people who pay. You can only save 250 articles or clippings. Plus there's this cloudflare security thing with multiple captchas. Never used to be like this. Sent them a message and got back some explanation about AI and robots and copyright rules. But it's supposed to be an archive of old newspapers right? Why would they care if paying customers download stuff? These companies act like everyone online is a criminal stealing things. Zero respect for people actually paying to use the site. Every response I get is the exact same template excuse. Corporations want to own everything. Information should be available to everyone, not locked behind corporate walls. I'm done with this stuff. The US is full of con artists and the whole setup is wrong. Not welcome here.

The steps they give you for cancelling don't actually work and I can't find any option to do it on their website.

Lisa M.Mar 18, 2025

Honestly this feels like a scam to me. Worst subscription I've ever paid for and it's expensive. Years in I finally realized I wasn't finding anything because they don't even include two of the biggest papers in my town. I've reached out multiple times with questions and never gotten a single response. Not once. Cancelling after this. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if someone took legal action over how bad their support is and what they advertise. Total disappointment.

Ended my subscription way back and my account shows it's cancelled with no active payments. Then there's a $74 charge on my card from this company. My payment info is still stored in their system. Absolutely terrible service. Would not recommend to anyone. This outfit is totally sketchy and trying to reach customer support is impossible. Best advice is to stay away completely.

Clicked on a free trial link while using the parent site for genealogy research. I got charged for a month right away and wanted to cancel. The cancellation instructions on their site don't work and I couldn't find any way to do it online. Tried emailing twice to ask them to cancel but got no replies. Ended up having to call my bank to stop future charges. This whole situation stressed me out and I wish I'd never tried it in the first place. Save yourself and skip this company.

Signed up through the parent company after coming across an article I was curious about. The interface is sluggish and poorly designed. My local papers aren't searchable but I get flooded with results from other regions that don't help my family history search at all. The search options are too general so you're stuck scrolling endlessly without getting anywhere. Won't be paying to renew.

William B.Sep 29, 2024

Signed up through the parent company after finding a newspaper article I wanted to read. The actual website runs really slow and feels outdated. The search doesn't work well for papers in my specific region - I get tons of results from other areas that aren't helpful for my family research. The filters are way too broad and you spend forever clicking through pages without finding anything. I'm definitely not going to renew after this.

Kevin H.Sep 10, 2024

I've repeatedly tried to work out an account problem with them but the only way to get any response is through a review site. I'm locked out because I don't have access to the email address from when I created my account. Really need to get a real person on the phone there to fix this. They're still charging me every month while refusing to help resolve the issue so I can actually use the service.

Robert M.Sep 10, 2024

Been going in circles trying to get help with my account problem. The only way they'll actually talk to me is through a review site. I lost access to the email I used when I originally made my account and now I can't get into the site. Really need to speak with someone there who can actually help fix this. They keep charging me but refuse to help me sort out the account so I can actually use what I'm paying for.

This company uses a business model based on being purposely hard to reach so they can grab your banking details and keep quietly stealing from you month after month without any real communication. They make it nearly impossible to ever delete your card information once they have it. I honestly haven't encountered such an unethical, shameful outfit in decades. No values whatsoever. If they were a flag you'd see bright red everywhere. Stay far away from this one.

David F.Jun 7, 2024

Had this for literally one day and already hate it. Not coming back. Why do you even offer a $7.95 option? So you can show me articles then make me pay $19.95 monthly just to actually read them? Total scam strategy. Get rid of the cheap fake plan and stop fooling people into this. I'm posting this everywhere I can. Everyone needs to know you really have to pay almost $20 a month and that lower price is just bait. Disgusting.

Nicole D.Apr 20, 2024

Yet another sketchy product from the parent company that relies on people forgetting they signed up for a trial before hitting them with a big charge. Not worth spending $60 just to look at a couple articles. Plus you have to cancel 2 days early or your trial ends immediately when you do cancel. If they had normal pricing like $10-$20 monthly without locking you into 6 month contracts, I'd actually consider trying it out. Instead I always end up thinking it's too risky to bother with.

Amanda R.Apr 5, 2024

Had a subscription through the parent company for my genealogy work. When they auto-renewed and I got the notification, I reached out asking to cancel and get credited for just that one day of service. Nobody got back to me. Their website says responses come in 1-2 days, but after a week with nothing I'm frustrated. I emailed customer service again and just got a generic template response. Still no actual help. Weeks have gone by and still nothing on cancelling or refunding my $60. These people are absolutely useless.
