My bike is two and a half years old and the battery completely died. The bike lives indoors year round and I ride it maybe once a week, so there's no reason it should have failed. I looked into it and found out Rad only gives a one year warranty on batteries. That seems wrong to me. My parents' electric bikes are six years old and have never had battery trouble, even though they sit in a hot garage. For a $3,000 bike where the battery is the main component, the warranty should last longer. Plus, when I've contacted Rad's support team before, they haven't been very helpful. I'd recommend buying from a company with stronger battery warranties and better customer support.

This was the worst purchase. I bought a commuter six years ago and it was broken from the start. The brakes would randomly engage on me during my commute, including stopping me in the middle of the Williamsburg bridge. I had to fix it multiple times. They sent three different controllers, and I paid a technician to install the last one, but it still didn't work right. The design puts all the electrical components in spots where water gets sprayed up and can collect around the motor and battery. After my first ride in wet weather, things started failing. The support team wasn't helpful, and honestly the product design and company service are both disappointing.

We've had two controller errors in under 300 miles. The quality has really gone downhill. The local bike shop told us they had at least six Rad Power bikes come in that month for the exact same issue. I'm so frustrated I don't even want to pay to fix it because I know it'll break again. I can't recommend this brand.

The company is filled with people who avoid responsibility.

After assembling it and taking it out for a test run, I found the gears were misaligned. I tried adjusting them using a tutorial from Rad but it didn't help, so I took it to a local bike shop. They found the motor and gearing setup is faulty and the front fork seals are leaking. Now I'm waiting for their customer service to respond about what they'll do. Update: It took three months just to get approval to return the faulty bike and receive a partial refund. They haven't reimbursed the shipping cost I paid or the packaging materials I had to buy per their return instructions, even though they said they would once I sent them proof. I provided both and still nothing. This has been extremely frustrating. Every email takes more than a week to get a reply, and then they just ask more questions and delay things further. This is honestly the worst customer service experience I've ever had.

Months went by with zero response to my follow-up emails. A company claiming great customer service should not ignore customers like this. This was my second Rad bike and there won't be another one. The service is terrible and I have concerns about product quality. Update: Eventually I did get in touch with someone and they fixed the problem, so I'm adjusting my rating to reflect that. Still, the process was way too slow and frustrating initially.

Rad Power Bikes is a really cool company. Their founder Mike Radenbaugh genuinely cares about both his customers and staff, and he works hard to create innovative and well-built electric bikes. Any product can have issues now and then, and I know this from working as a technician, but Rad puts real effort into supporting customers before and after purchase. I ride a Rad Runner and I'm a huge fan. It's got over 3,000 miles of hard riding on it and runs like it's brand new.

People always comment on how cool they look when I'm riding around. My family loves using the Rad Wagon for trips around town with my kids. The smiles on their faces make every ride special. Since getting these bikes, I barely drive my truck anymore. My truck battery has actually died a couple times from sitting unused. When I think about the money saved per mile and gas I'm not buying, these bikes make total financial sense too. These are eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and just plain fun.
