What Shoppers Say About Abeka Book
Shoppers who are satisfied with Abeka Book praise the curriculum's organization, thoroughness, and Christian-based approach to homeschooling. Reviewers highlight comprehensive teacher guides and well-structured lesson plans as strengths, with some noting their children engage with the material. However, a significant portion of reviewers report serious issues with customer service and refund policies. Complaints include difficulty canceling subscriptions, unexplained balance charges reported to credit agencies, refunds being withheld or delayed by over a week, and unresolved disputes despite BBB complaints. Several reviewers also mention the curriculum can feel repetitive or dull over time.
The mixed ratings reflect a divide between those satisfied with academic content and those frustrated by business practices and customer service interactions. Potential customers should carefully review cancellation and refund policies before enrolling and consider whether the company's customer service reputation aligns with their expectations.

Sorted by: Most recentIf you're looking for a Christian-based homeschool curriculum with professional instruction, Abeka delivers on that promise. We've been using their accredited K5 program for a few months now and it's our first homeschooling experience. Everything is incredibly well organized and I'm really impressed by how thorough the teacher's guides are, the quality of the video lessons, and the student books. The DVDs are arranged logically and have played perfectly with no issues. The curriculum is comprehensive enough that we haven't felt the need to use supplemental materials from other providers that we'd bought just in case. I expected to do most of the teaching myself, but after watching plenty of lessons with Mrs. Turner, I realized she's far more experienced than I am. I'm happy just assisting at this point. I haven't graded anything yet to comment on that system, but I'm hopeful it goes smoothly when we do. My only real wish would be that they offered more supplemental materials for both teachers and students.
This company doesn't live up to the Christian values they claim to stand for. In my view, they're not what they appear to be. I cancelled my subscription over the phone but ended up with an unpaid balance that they reported to my credit history as a collection account. Working with them was difficult and their content quality is mediocre at best. I'd recommend looking at Study.com as an alternative. Be cautious about doing business with them since they seem disorganized and potentially dishonest. I'm willing to update my feedback if they contact me to resolve this and make things right.
Steer clear of this company. I attempted to return my order and they held onto my refund for well over a week. When they finally processed it, they withheld approximately $200 from what I was owed. This situation remains unresolved despite filing multiple complaints with the Better Business Bureau and reaching out to customer service directly. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere.
Good program overall. My sixth grader seems satisfied with it, though he does find it a bit dull at times.
