What Shoppers Say About BWS Australia
BWS Australia is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 21 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing dissatisfaction. Shoppers consistently report problems with pricing that significantly exceeds competitors like Liquorland and Dan's (sometimes 40 percent higher), declining product selection, and poor customer service experiences. Some locations face particular criticism for unhelpful or dismissive staff attitudes. A small number of positive reviews highlight individual managers who provide knowledgeable, friendly service and product guidance.
Recurring complaints extend beyond pricing and selection to more serious issues, including online ordering system failures, billing problems, and isolated reports of discriminatory treatment. While BWS maintains a wide product range at some locations, reviewers indicate this alone is insufficient to justify their pricing strategy when competitors offer substantially better value and comparable selection. The overwhelming negative sentiment suggests the chain has lost customer confidence in reliability and value proposition.

Sorted by: Most recentNothing's ever in stock but they'll still charge you for it anyway. And $85 for a six pack of Hinterland Lashes? That's ridiculous.
They're pulling a fast one with their app deals. You'll see a special price advertised, but when you go to actually buy it, the price jumps back to full retail. Unless you're paying attention to your receipt and bank statement after, you've been ripped off. Call them out on it and they'll tell you prices change by location, and conveniently the special is never at your local store. It's a scam and I don't understand how they get away with it. I'm done shopping there.
The specials are only accessible if you've got a smartphone and know how to use apps. This is pretty discriminatory toward older customers who don't have the right phone or aren't comfortable with the technology.
Had a voucher for a 6 pack at $17. The cashier said it was a mistake and refused to honor it. I contacted their customer service team and they promised someone would call me back directly, but nobody ever did. If they don't care about treating customers right, why not just go to Liquorland that's next door instead. That's my plan from now on.
At the Whitfords City location, the team and manager didn't prioritize customer service at all. They were too busy hanging out on their phones and getting ready for seasonal decorations instead of helping people on the floor. When I asked about something, I was told to look for it myself. The manager was disrespectful to customers and caused unnecessary drama in the store for absolutely no reason.
Waste of time. They advertise clearance items but never actually stock them, just trying to get people through the door. Their regular prices don't even compete with Dan Murphy's anyway!!!!
Your staff has absolutely zero customer service skills. They're supposed to be trained professionals and it shows they're not. Time to switch to Dan Murphy's where you actually get treated right and stop supporting these kinds of operations.
At the Carnegie location, me and two other customers had to stand outside while it was supposed to be open because the staff member was on a smoke break. We were told to wait until he finished, and when he finally let us in he was in a terrible mood about the whole thing.
Went to the Banora location yesterday with my daughter-in-law and 15-year-old granddaughter to get some wines. Asked a young staff member questions and he looked stuff up on his phone to check on specials. My granddaughter didn't touch or carry any of the alcohol the whole time we were there, maybe 15 minutes, but when we got to the counter the staff member demanded ID from her and refused to sell us the wine. We explained we were her mother and grandmother and the wine was for us, not her, but he still said no. Another customer with two kids in the store was laughing because he thought it was funny, not sure if he got served or not. We went to a different bottle shop and asked them about the situation. They said as long as your child isn't touching or carrying alcohol there's no issue. I worked in a bottle shop for 5 years and never asked customers to leave their kids outside, just explained that the children couldn't handle the alcohol. This staff member went way too far.
