Easy & fast so Ive learned a lot for free

I stuck with Duolingo and have learned a lot for free by just doing a few minutes daily. It's no trouble and so I give it 5 stars. Just to say that different languages do give a very different experience. . . I'm doing french and German. The French is useful vocab and the listening and stories are amusing creative and fun, introduced in french by distinct french characters. The German is very dull, with the corny generic American intros and boring storylines. Since it is free and fast I do the German anyway and I HAVE learned but I do think Duolingo should aim for more consistency of quality between courses.

Customer Support is Non-Existent

The app itself is mostly fine and fun. It’s easy to use and encouraging when it comes to learning a new language. However, should you encounter an issue and need assistance… good luck! I’m now on day 47 of asking for help with a simple fix on my account (I’m unable to add friends or be found when searched). Their lack of customer service for paying customers is appalling. Over 10 emails and no response.

Can't Recommend Duolingo Spanish

I've been doing Duolingo Spanish for nearly seven years now. I have just decided to give it up. It is not designed for effective learning, but rather to keep you "addicted", and participating forever. My goal originally was to complete the course. But, every time I reach a milestone and near the end of a section, they "update" the program and add endless new lessons, which are at best, simple reviews of useless conversations. So, after 2,473 consecutive days, and several months of intermittent learning before that, I'm giving up. In all honesty, I can not recommend Duolingo Spanish. I should have quite LONG ago! :(

Money grabbers

Money grabbers. They will never refund you, cancelling a subscription is so hard and it will make you think you have already cancelled it and then you end up getting charged. I’ve been paying for a year long family subscription which is a a lot of money. The app still freezes and glitches and does things that mean you end up with less XP than you should, whenever I reach out to customer support they don’t answer anymore because I asked for a refund and now they just seem to ignore anything I say. For the amount of money I’m paying the experience and/or service should be a lot better. It’s also annoying because it’s all American washed. You think you are learning English but it’s literally the US flag and not an English flag, you think you are learning Spanish and it IS a Spanish flag, but it’s the Latin American one and not European and you have no way of knowing that and if you are learning it for school and need to learn the European one, you’ll be learning the wrong one without knowing, it would be better if they had other options in that aspect or that they actually advertised them properly. They have also recently made a public leaderboard every week and it annoys me because I feel I, and probably others, now focus more on getting the most XP, rather than taking the time learning, it has become more of a competition that education because I feel like a failure if I go down a level or something of the sort and this is obviously to get people to spend more money and time on the app and because they don’t care about the users. The app id annoying and I don’t want to use it anymore but I feel all the money I spent on it will go to waste if not. I wish customer support would actually respond. Don’t recommend.

Pressure all the time to do a lesson

Pressure all the time to do a lesson and to upgrade !Is the app creator a sports fan by any chance cos it’s either sports or politics neither I’m interested in I want day to day senarios like eating out, time, visiting places etc surely all the sports stuff should come later ? Getting bored now with each new chapter bring the same old same !!

I actually like the way the app ran…

I actually like the way the app ran across everything..but, they have no support. Mine started freezing up on me and I sent feedback and they told me to delete cookies and history, so I did in FF and Chrome and nothing. So I've sent in a couple more requests for support and nothing at all from them. I paid for Super and couldn't even finish half of my sections/units. I've cancelled my subscription..which I don't get a refund even though it's their fault I'm having problems. I even tried both FF and Chrome on my new laptop and the same crap. I was learning a lot, but support is a number 1 thing with any app or website. If they don't even have the decency to get back to you, I don't like doing businesses with those type of support and negligence. I would highly suggest against paying for this service, it's not worth it.

So many irritating issues

So many irritating issues. First of all, I must admit that I AM learning some language skills, so that is a positive... I guess. That's where the positivity ends, though. I had a month free trial of Duolingo from Lidl, so I thought, "What the hell... Give it a go". At the end of the month, I decided that I would sign up for the "Super" at £5.95/month... but Nope - they took the annual subscription fee instead. This, fortunately, has not caused any major financial issues for me, though I can see how it would for some.Next issue came when I tried to report a bug - nothing major, just a bug that needed sorting - no response and still not fixed. Tried reporting that as feedback - no response. There is NO way to report a bug on the app, and no way to contact Duolingo from the app.I am still getting ads, even after signing up for the ad-free version (This time promoting the family pack - I am single, why would I want this?)It's such a pity that something that could actually be quite good is being run by what appear to be money-grabbers who couldn't give a damn about their customers.

Program just stalled on a lesson

Program just stalled on a lesson. I cannot go any further due to program bug (I guess). No support from Duolingo whatsoever. And I actually liked when the program worked. Haven't learned much in 1+ year. No conversational ability.
