What Shoppers Say About Essential Wholesale
Essential Wholesale is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 9 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. Long-term customers report a dramatic decline in service and product quality following what appears to be a recent ownership change and rebranding as Essential Labs. Common complaints include extended shipping delays (two to twelve weeks versus a few days previously), product formula changes without notification (such as unexpected additives to cream bases), and poor customer service with lack of communication about delayed orders. Several reviewers note that product consistency has suffered, with items arriving in unusable states (overly thick formulations) and taking excessive time to arrive, prompting some to end decades-long relationships with the business.
While one reviewer acknowledged that the actual products remain good quality, this positive note is vastly outweighed by widespread frustration. Customers who previously relied on Essential Wholesale for wholesale ingredients and personal care bases now report they cannot recommend the company to their own clients due to unreliability. The pattern of negative feedback centers on operational changes rather than isolated incidents, with multiple long-term customers describing the business as fundamentally transformed and no longer trustworthy for consistent, timely service.

Sorted by: Most recentI've been ordering raw ingredients from these guys for over twenty years, but something feels completely different now. This doesn't even seem like the same business anymore, and honestly I feel like I got taken advantage of. I ended up disputing my most recent purchase. Reading through the newer reviews from this year is honestly kind of scary because it sounds like a lot of people aren't even getting their stuff. It's such a shame since they used to have really solid customer service back in the day. I get that problems happen, but this seems like something bigger. Hopefully my review can help someone else avoid wasting their time and cash like I did.
Their products definitely aren't the same anymore and they didn't even tell anybody about it. Got a cucumber lotion in this massive plastic tub that's so thick you literally cannot squeeze anything out of it. Same problem with the silk cream, you have to cut chunks out with a spatula just to transfer it to a regular container. Oh, and it took a couple months just to get my shipment sent out. And don't get me started on shipping costs being like a third of what I paid for the whole order. Absolutely ridiculous.
After being a loyal customer for 15 years, I've had to walk away. Their quality has seriously declined and I can't depend on them anymore. My recent order for Muscle Gel took two full months to show up, and they're now quoting 12 weeks for my next shipment of Muscle Gel and skincare items. My own customers won't wait three months for their orders, so this is costing me real money in lost sales. I'm disappointed because they used to be reliable, but I have to find another supplier now.
Used to love ordering from here. Everything changed once they rebranded as Essential Labs with what seems like new management. Back in the day, orders would ship in a few days. Now you're doing great if it goes out within three weeks. I've got an order from over a month back that still hasn't left their warehouse because they claim they're waiting for ingredients to arrive, which is pretty wild when that's literally what they're supposed to have on hand. I've relied on them for years, but when your main supplier can't keep up with basic shipping timelines, you start looking at competitors. Really disappointing to see them not prioritize getting products out the door anymore.
The actual products are really good quality, but the customer service side of things is a nightmare. I've been waiting almost a month for an order now with zero communication about whether it's even backordered. Sent an email asking for an update and got nothing back. Finally called them twice and found out my stuff won't arrive before the holidays. If they'd just told me upfront, I could've sourced it from someone else and saved my seasonal sales. Really let down by how they handled this.
I used to buy their face cream bases, particularly the silk and jojoba formulas. After the ownership switch to Essential Labs, I noticed they started adding polysorbates to the creams when they weren't there before. I can tell because I have jars from the old formula to compare. Not going back there. I also grabbed some vitamin C for making serums, something I've been doing for six years now. The vitamin C wouldn't dissolve properly, and when I asked for a refund they told me to heat it up to fix the problem. That's backwards advice since heat damages vitamin C, which is why every recipe tells you to keep it protected from light and stored in dark amber bottles. Most vitamin C products recommend dark storage and minimal light exposure. They've basically stripped out the good organic ingredients that made their stuff worth buying. Skip them.
Ordered three fragrant oils for just under forty dollars and paid seventeen dollars for shipping. What showed up was completely wrong, bottles that smelled like straight alcohol and harsh chemicals that actually burned my eyes and skin when I opened them. The company blamed me, saying it was my nose being sensitive. That's unacceptable. I'm ready to take legal action and expose what happened if they don't refund my full payment right now.
Spent fifty-eight bucks on sample bottles and either they sent me knockoffs or the oils were spoiled. Extremely frustrating experience. When I complained, their customer service got defensive and basically accused me of not knowing the difference between carrier oils and essential oils, insisting everything was fine. The rosehip seed oil was genuinely gross, made me nauseous. I tried returning one full-size product I bought for eighteen dollars because I didn't trust the quality, but they wanted me to cover return shipping plus charge me a twenty-five percent restocking fee. So I'm just out fifty-eight dollars now. Don't bother with this place.
Not impressed. The prices aren't even that great for bulk quantities, which doesn't make sense. Nobody is using such tiny amounts or watering things down this much. When I opened my bottle, the safety seal wasn't broken like it should've been fresh, and the inner seal underneath was already peeled back and pressed down sloppily. Zero resistance when I unscrewed it. Something's off here, either they added fillers or they short-filled the containers.
