What Shoppers Say About GED Testing Service
GED Testing Service is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 15 shoppers, with universal dissatisfaction across all reviews. Shoppers report severe technical and operational issues including a broken pretest feature on the website, inconsistent proctoring standards for remote test administration, and unexplained test cancellations after payment. Multiple reviewers describe situations where tests were shut down or invalidated without clear explanation, leaving them unable to contact customer support or receive refunds. Complaints suggest that the service may cancel completed tests retroactively or deny score validation based on vague justifications about test conditions.
Beyond technical failures, shoppers express frustration with the proctoring experience, citing overly strict or arbitrarily applied photo requirements during check-in and aggressive test termination for minor or unclear infractions. The combination of payment loss, inability to reach support (particularly during weekend hours), and lack of transparency around cancellation policies has led reviewers to question the legitimacy of the service. No positive aspects of the testing experience were mentioned in available reviews.

Sorted by: Most recentBack when I took the GED in 2016-2017, practice tests weren't mandatory. Now in 2023, you're forced to take one before the actual exam. The issue is these practice tests cost money and expire after 60 days if you don't use them. The government really should make these optional or free. Also, don't even think about paying for an essay regrade. It's fifty bucks and the graders need to be way more open-minded. They've got a full test package for around $350, but you need to do over 6 hours of prep work before each free practice test.
I can't even log into my account on this site. On top of that, the customer service is absolutely terrible.
I used this site for 3 tests and they all went fine. When I went to take my 4th test, the PearsonVue OnVue software started acting up. Nobody on the online chat helped me even after I waited over 4 hours. They told me to just reschedule for the next day. Then they said their tech support needs a full week just to look at my ticket. I've tried everything to show the problem isn't on my end. PearsonVue support wouldn't help at all. I'm still waiting for someone from GED.com to respond in the chat after 5 hours.
This is the worst support I've ever seen from an educational organization. I had a science test scheduled for evening at 6:30 pm. The website told me to log in 30 minutes early so we could get rolling on time. I was already logged in at 5:55 pm. At 6:10 someone in the chat asked me to log out because they didn't see me online. I did. Then I logged back in at 6:20. I waited until someone named Ingrid came on to talk through my computer. I didn't catch her name at first, so I asked who I was speaking with. She responded in a really rude way and just said 'Ingrid.' She then told me I needed to remove my headset from where I was. I did what she said, but then she claimed I couldn't take the test because of my computer headset. I never saw any rule saying headsets weren't allowed anywhere. She refused to work with me. I asked if I could just use my computer instead, and she said no, that I'd have to reschedule. She dumped some information in the chat box without even telling me, and obviously without anything to write on or even my phone nearby to take a picture, I couldn't get the details down. She logged out right away and I had no way to get that information. I tried reaching customer service but found out they close at 7 pm. Since my test was at 6:30, I would've been past 7:30 when done. The way she treated me was really disrespectful and made me feel completely worthless.
They boot you off the test for random reasons and make you start from scratch. When I asked for my money back, I got told, 'Our teams are doing everything we can to respond to you in a timely manner. We are currently responding within about 4 business days.' Their phone line is awful with tons of static and you can't hear any of the automated messages. Once I finally got through to someone, the connection was so bad I couldn't make out what she was saying. I'm pretty sure she hung up when I asked her to say it again. Stay away from this service.
