What Shoppers Say About Mag-Lite
Mag-Lite products receive overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 17 shoppers rating the brand 2.0 out of 5. The most common complaints center on design flaws and durability issues: non-replaceable bulbs that fail quickly, defective switches that stop working after light use, and battery compartments where batteries get stuck. Customers also report significant frustration with warranty coverage, citing high shipping costs to return items, difficulty reaching customer support by phone or email, and perceived censorship of negative reviews on the product pages.
A small portion of shoppers (24 percent) gave five-star ratings, though recent reviews do not contain positive feedback detailing what these satisfied customers appreciated. The broader pattern suggests quality control problems have damaged the brand's reputation, with reviewers explicitly stating they will not purchase from Mag-Lite again and warning others to avoid spending money on the products.

Sorted by: Most recentReally disappointed with the newer mini flashlight model that has non-replaceable bulbs. I bought two of them and both failed pretty quickly, losing the negative contact at the bulb. The older version was way better before they made this upgrade. Don't bother spending your money on these.
Total rip-off. They won't honor their warranty and you can't reach them by phone or email anyway.
Ordered four flashlights and one charger was defective. The warranty doesn't mean much because you have to pay to ship the broken item to them just so they can decide whether it's actually broken. When I contacted support and management, I got the runaround with endless questions and wasted time. Not buying from them again.
The batteries get stuck and won't come out because of how the switch mechanism is designed. Makes it really frustrating to replace them.
I've had issues with Maglite switches before, but I made the mistake of buying a Mag-Tac anyway. Same problem happened again - after just a few months of light use, the switch gave out and the whole thing stopped working.
Spent $120 on the ML150LR rechargeable LED fast-charging flashlight and it's a dud. The charging cradle is cheap plastic garbage. When I charged the battery the first time, I smelled something burning. I posted a review about what happened and it disappeared from the product page. Tried again and realized they're blocking all the one and two star reviews so people won't see the real issues. The five star reviews seem suspicious honestly. Customer service is just okay - no real help or genuine effort to fix things like you'd expect from a reputable company. Maglite's gone downhill.
Got a brand new flashlight that started malfunctioning after less than an hour of normal use and fresh batteries. My first warranty email got completely ignored. The second response was disappointing and kind of rude. The whole warranty process is a hassle - you have to pay to ship it back, include all your info again, describe the problem all over, and wait to see if they'll even help. It's expensive, time-consuming, and frankly bad customer service. They make it way too hard to get support for their products.
Absolute garbage. These are basically disposable - you'll be throwing it away soon anyway. The warranty is worthless with this company.
Bought several Maglite flashlights over time. The latest one has faulty circuitry and keeps blinking on and off. I've reached out multiple times to their customer service and they never respond. So much for that 10 year warranty - it's nonexistent. I'm done with Maglite for good.
I keep trying to place orders and you keep canceling them. No one explains why on the phone. First you said something about the billing address not being in the US, then suggested I contact my bank. I tried ordering again with a different payment card but same issue. Why isn't anyone helping me figure this out?
