What Shoppers Say About Openfarmpet
Open Farm Pet receives overwhelmingly negative feedback primarily centered on customer service failures. Shoppers report extreme difficulty reaching the company through multiple contact channels, with some waiting weeks for responses to emails. Issues include unresolved delivery problems (items arriving thawed, out-of-stock items on first subscription delivery), non-functional website features, and inconsistent application of advertised promotions like referral programs. Multiple reviewers note that despite product quality concerns being secondary, the inability to resolve problems makes the company unreliable.
Among the limited positive feedback, one shopper reported that the food successfully addressed their dog's skin problems after other premium brands failed, suggesting the products may have merit when they arrive as ordered. However, this isolated praise is vastly outweighed by systemic complaints about operational failures and customer service that shoppers describe as "impossible to reach" and unresponsive.

Sorted by: Most recentI've never seen customer service this bad. These people cannot seem to understand even the clearest written requests. All we wanted was to recommend the company to my mother after our first purchase. The referral button on the site wasn't working, so I took a screenshot and spelled out exactly what the problem was. THREE different customer service reps responded by trying to help with a completely different problem. It was like they were all reading separate emails. They were rude about it too, which is why I'm giving one star. My dog actually enjoyed the food itself, but we're not coming back to a company that operates like that. When you're spending over a hundred dollars on pet food, you deserve better than being ignored and talked down to. The least they could do is fully read what you're saying and treat you with basic respect. Oh, and shipping took forever. I would've stuck around if they'd acted like they cared during those first three tries, but a manager finally got back to me five days later. By then it was too little, too late.
Open Farm has let me down before. One time I had to drive 6 hours round trip just to pick up my dog's food because they messed up a delivery. I figured I'd give them another shot and set up a subscription for my 87 year old mother who lives far away, and on the very first delivery they didn't have the items in stock. When I tried calling, emailing, and using their chat like they said to do, they told me someone would reach back out in one to three days. I had to cancel my mom's subscription immediately since I live several states away and can't help her handle this mess myself. This company really needs to hire actual customer service people and pay them what they're worth.
I've been trying to contact them since late September and have sent emails four different times with absolutely nothing back from them. The lack of response is really disappointing. My order arrived in mid September, but there was a problem right away. The packaging had no ice packs left, and 13 items came completely thawed out while the rest stayed frozen. They did replace those thawed items, but I'm still concerned the whole shipment might've been compromised. When I started introducing the food to my puppy following their suggested 10 day transition plan, she got bad diarrhea and kept having issues for over a week and a half. That's pretty worrying when it comes to food safety and quality. I'm giving two stars mainly because I've reached out multiple times since late September and haven't gotten a single acknowledgment. I should be getting quick responses from customer support, especially when my pet's health is involved.
I've got to agree with what others are saying about how poor their customer service is. Trying to reach anyone at this company is basically impossible and I've been at it for a week straight. The food itself appears to be quality stuff, and since I care about what my dogs eat I keep attempting to get through, but this company is really testing my patience. They're just poorly managed overall and I know what I'm talking about having run my own business for 35 years.
Finally found a food that actually works for my pittie's skin problems. We've tested everything from the cheaper brands all the way up to premium options and nothing worked until we tried this. Would love to see more variety in the skin health line though.
Watch out with this company because they mislead customers badly. Their discount percentages don't even add up right. The referral program they advertise is not what it seems. They pick and choose whether they'll actually honor referral offers. And when they say a supervisor will follow up, they answer someone else's complaint instead. Don't count on getting what they promise you.
I don't understand all the buzz around this brand. Sure, the ingredient list looks okay, but wow, their customer service is a nightmare. They charged my card for my order, then completely canceled it with no warning. I had to sit around waiting 3 to 5 business days just to see my money come back for 6 bags of dog food. The whole thing happened because of their own computer glitch that had accidentally applied a 20% discount to each bag. When I reached out, they told me there was only a 2 bag limit on the deal and refused to honor what they'd already processed. On top of everything, the kibble pieces are super tiny and both my small dog and big dog have trouble swallowing them without choking. Their customer service team is flat out terrible and I can't recommend giving this company your business.
