What Shoppers Say About TeachersPayTeachers
TeachersPayTeachers is rated 2.1 out of 5 by 19 shoppers, with a significant majority expressing serious concerns. The most common complaints involve account suspensions without warning or explanation, non-payment of earned funds that should have been distributed according to the site's own terms, and unresponsive customer support. Additionally, some buyers report downloading educational materials that contain factual errors, and others encountered technical issues requiring additional software installations that rendered purchases unusable.
A small segment of reviewers report positive experiences, noting helpful resources and materials they would repurchase. However, these favorable reviews are substantially outweighed by complaints about account management practices, financial disputes, and content quality issues that suggest systemic problems affecting both sellers and buyers on the platform.

Sorted by: Most recentI've spent thousands here over time because it's convenient and the materials are usually pretty good. Last night I bought over two hundred dollars in new resources to use in my class today. This morning when I sat down to print them for my students, I found my account was locked. Apparently I got it locked because I was using my phone data instead of home wifi. I sent them the information they asked for. Still no response. I already had to teach one class without the materials I paid for. I'm about to start with another group of students and still can't get in. I need those materials ready for tomorrow. It's been six hours now with zero response from them. This is infuriating because basically they have the only source for certain teacher-made materials and you're stuck using them.
My seller account was terminated suddenly with no explanation or communication from the platform. It made me realize how risky it is to rely on this company since everything I worked hard to create just vanished in seconds without any real justification. The lack of transparency shows that content makers have zero protection against random decisions from the company. It's left me feeling uncertain about whether I want to work with them going forward.
I bought an ESL beginner lesson package. They show you previews first which made it look good, but what I got was totally different from the preview. I ended up with a bunch of PowerPoint files that were just copied from other materials using screenshots. Some of the screenshots were of videos, which doesn't help since you need to actually hear the recordings. The lessons were poorly put together and I couldn't use them. I contacted the company for help but they were useless. Once they have your money, that's it. My refund request met all their own criteria because the materials were plagiarized and not what was described, but they rejected it anyway and ignored me. Then they had the nerve to ask for feedback about customer service through their rep Gary who promised he'd look into my issue. He never did. I would never use them again. Other sites like EBay and Etsy have made sellers handle complaints but TPT takes such a huge cut that they owe buyers real support. As a teacher paying for these materials, it's frustrating to feel ripped off.
I've invested around twenty thousand dollars buying resources here. One random day they locked me out of my account and I lost access to thousands of dollars worth of materials I had purchased. Then I have to sit and wait a week just to get a response and meanwhile I can't reach any of the stuff I paid for.
They take way too much of what sellers make. Plus if money sits in your account for a while they just straight up keep it.
When I sell something for a dollar, I get twenty cents and the platform keeps eighty percent. It's offensive, which is why I've switched all my items to free. This is not how you should be treating teachers who are struggling to pay bills.
I started selling educational materials here and I'm really disappointed. The fees this platform charges are crazy. I sell something for ninety-nine cents and I lose forty-five cents as a commission plus thirty cents in service fees, leaving me with just twenty-four cents. That's three quarters of my sale going to the platform. As a teacher who spends tons of time making quality resources, it hurts to watch them take most of what I earn. The company says they support teachers and creators but their fee structure clearly benefits them way more than the people making content. They need to be upfront about their costs and make them fair to creators. The way things are now is discouraging people from even wanting to make materials for the site. I can't suggest this to other teachers who want to sell. Educators work hard and should get paid what they deserve for their effort.
This is about the customer service team, not the website itself which I actually love. First time I needed to contact support and I was really impressed. They got back to me super fast, the representative actually read my issue carefully and understood what I needed, then came up with a solution that worked perfectly. Thanks so much for helping me out!
I could honestly spend an entire day browsing through all the options here. Teachers share tons of free resources but the paid stuff is usually under five bucks anyway. No matter what grade you teach, from kindergarten to twelfth grade, you can find something useful. I haven't run into any issues downloading what I've paid for. This is my go-to site whenever I need classroom materials but don't have time to make them myself or don't have the right programs to create them.
