- The code might be case-sensitive or contain characters that were entered incorrectly; retype it carefully.
- Certain coupons cannot be combined with other promotions or discounts on the same purchase.
- Your account may need to be logged in or linked to a loyalty program for the coupon to register.
- The minimum purchase requirement might not have been met; confirm your order total qualifies for the offer.

Safeway Reviews
Safeway shoppers are divided in their experiences. Those giving five-star ratings praise the store for reasonable pricing, well-stocked shelves, and a quality bakery section. However, a significant portion of reviewers report serious frustrations with digital coupons that they describe as unreliable or potentially deceptive, pricing errors at checkout (such as unexpected charges for individual items), and problems with the online ordering system that prevent completing purchases despite advertised deals. Multiple reviewers mention spending considerable time trying to resolve these technical and pricing issues with customer service, with limited success.
The core complaint centers on trust in Safeway's digital and pricing systems. Reviewers describe inconsistencies between advertised prices and what they are charged, coupons that fail to work, and inventory management problems. While store cleanliness and product selection receive positive mentions, the recurring issues with digital tools and checkout accuracy have left some shoppers questioning whether these problems reflect incompetence or intentional practices.
Their digital coupons feel like a scam. The pricing errors happen too often to be mistakes. No major company is this bad at inventory and pricing management by accident. Whether it's incompetence or something worse, I just don't trust Safeway anymore. Another class action lawsuit needs to happen.
The pricing practices at Safeway are out of control. I needed just one clove of garlic for my dinner. At checkout they tried to charge me almost two dollars for it. When I questioned why a single clove cost that much, the cashier said the whole sleeve was that price so that's what they charge. I had them remove it and asked them to put all my groceries back. I left without my purchase which was about fifty dollars worth of items. I'm done shopping here and will take my business elsewhere.
For the most part my experience has been great. I had one minor issue at another location with an uninformed employee but overall the company delivers. Stores are always well stocked and their bakery is fantastic.
I've had major issues with Safeway's digital coupons and online ordering system. They just don't work, and the customer service reps can't help resolve problems. I tried to order a five-pound bag of chicken drumsticks that was advertised for less than five dollars but the system wouldn't let me complete the purchase. I've wasted over an hour dealing with this mess and getting the runaround. It's not my computer, browser, cache, VPN, or ad blocker. The company won't even investigate the problem without making customers jump through endless hoops. When I send screenshots showing the issue, nothing gets done and they certainly won't fix expired offers. It's clear their product and offer databases are poorly maintained and their IT team is completely incompetent at fixing these problems. There are lots of bad grocery chains out there, but Safeway might be the absolute worst I've dealt with.
The pricing is really reasonable and fair. It reminds me of stores like Winn-Dixie that I used to visit down south. I genuinely love shopping here and think anyone in the area should give Safeway a try.
Great prices that remind me of this store back in Alabama called Winn-Dixie. I absolutely love shopping at Safeway and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid grocery option.
Honestly, this has been a frustrating experience. While I see they've improved staffing lately, this is still the worst grocery store chain I've shopped at. Their whole approach feels like bait and switch tactics. They advertise amazing sales and then either don't stock the items or run out immediately. The app and website constantly show things as in stock when they're not. I went in for advertised sale items multiple times and couldn't find them. They had whole turkeys advertised for the holidays but never got any. On a Friday during Father's Day weekend they were completely out of diet Pepsi before noon. I'm really frustrated with how they disrespect their customers. It seems intentional at this point. The store has become less welcoming, and I get why employees seem unhappy based on all these complaints. I've also noticed they're charging EBT customers for bags which feels wrong. I'm expecting a class action lawsuit to settle eventually based on how they operate.
The location at 470 and Smokey Hill is usually pretty good, but I had a disappointing experience on June 14th. I emailed about an issue and never got a response. When we came in to shop like we do regularly, there was a great deal on chicken drumettes at five dollars a bag with a five-bag limit per person. Sounds like a supply problem was brewing. When we checked, they were completely out. The display only holds about ten bags maximum, so basically two shoppers grabbed everything available. It's clear their supply couldn't keep up with even ten percent of the demand. We asked the manager for a raincheck on just one bag and he immediately said no. I wish this store would use some common sense and show more courtesy to customers in situations like this.
I'm a regular at the location near 7th Street on McDonald. After my service ended I stopped by but found the deli closed. An employee named Arturo was there doing cleanup all by himself, which is basically two to three jobs. Even though he was clearly busy, he stopped what he was doing to make me chicken salad. That kind of dedication deserves recognition. He should really get a raise or bonus because that's outstanding customer service.
The location on Indian School Road is fantastic. The manager Danielle really runs a great operation.
There's an employee at one of the locations who went out of her way to help me shop for toys for tots. She kept running back and forth to assist me for a really long time. It's honestly rare to find people who genuinely care that much. I think she deserves a raise for her kindness and dedication. It truly makes a difference and I'm really grateful.
I visited my local store recently and the acting manager Karen was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She processed my refund in cash without any questions. I've always received good service at this location, even during difficult situations like power outages or road closures.
I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday party and it turned out exactly as I requested. Everyone at the party loved it and said it tasted delicious.
