Simms Fishing Products is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 22 shoppers, with the majority of reviews expressing serious dissatisfaction. The most consistent complaints center on deteriorating customer service, warranty denial on expensive products like waders and jackets, unresponsive communication, slow order fulfillment when purchasing directly from the company, and perceived quality control issues. Shoppers report difficulty obtaining email updates, reaching customer support, and getting warranty claims approved. A small percentage of reviewers (23 percent) give five-star ratings, though these positive reviews are not detailed in available excerpts.

Many dissatisfied customers recommend purchasing Simms products through third-party retailers such as Cabelas or Amazon rather than ordering directly from the company. Issues with product design changes, such as phased-out cleats for wading boots and seam failures in waders, have frustrated long-term customers. The most common theme is that Simms no longer stands behind its products or provides the customer support that shoppers expect from a premium fishing gear brand, with several noting that competitors like Patagonia maintain better warranty practices.

The Simms I know today is nothing like it used to be. Customer service has basically disappeared and the quality is terrible. Lots of us here in Ontario are switching brands because of how poorly Simms treats customers now. They don't stand behind anything they sell. Try getting warranty coverage on a G4 Pro jacket from them. Patagonia would never give you the runaround like this.

Simms fishing gear is disappointing and their customer service is even worse. They'll come up with excuses all day long about why they won't cover your $700 waders. I can't recommend them to anyone.

If you want Simms products, buy them through somewhere like Cabelas or Amazon. Don't order directly from Simms. My experience ordering straight from them was absolutely horrible. They can't seem to get in touch with their own warehouse to find out when something will ship or what the delay is. You won't get email updates on your order status or delays, and when you call customer service they have no answers either. After multiple attempts to figure out what was happening, I just canceled the order. But they couldn't even give me a confirmation number that the cancellation went through. Now I get to call back again to supposedly get that sorted out. Just avoid the headache and go somewhere else.

Picked up a pair of G4 Pro wading boots back in 2022 that came with threaded inserts for studs or cleats. Turns out Simms has stopped supporting this whole system and the cleats are being phased out. Once they're gone, that's it. My boots are barely over 2 years old and now I'm stuck with no way to get replacement cleats. Fantastic support from Simms, really. I've been a loyal customer for years but that's changing fast. Looking at Grundens and Patagonia instead from here on out.

I sent my G3 waders to Simms for a repair that wasn't covered under warranty. After owning them for 4 years, they developed a small leak and I figured Simms would do better work than me. A month goes by before they finally email saying the waders can't be repaired and they're marking them with an X and refusing future repairs. I've tried emailing multiple times and calling but no one picks up. They say they're shipping them back. I'm in Canada but I get a tracking number and find out yesterday that my $1000 waders got delivered to the wrong address in a different state. I still can't reach anyone at the company. Thanks Simms, you've made switching to Patagonia a really easy decision.

Got a pair of Simms Tributary waders and they started leaking around the crotch seam right out of the box. Took them back to the shop and got a replacement pair. Second pair had the exact same problem in the same spot on day one. Figured I'd reach out to Simms directly with a polite message asking what's going on. They never responded. Tried messaging them on Facebook too, but got the same silence. I happen to create content online with a decent following, so my viewers will definitely be hearing about this experience. I'm done buying Simms products, and honestly they seem like they just don't care when there are issues.

These G4 Pro wading boots are fantastic. I took them on a trip to the Italian Alps and used them to hop between rocks while fly fishing. Never felt more sure-footed on slippery terrain. The plastic powerlock cleats work exactly as advertised, giving you that grip and control you need.

Total ripoff. Something will tear on your waders or boots and then you've got to pay out of pocket to ship them back to get them fixed. You send them in and they mark it with an X, say it's beyond repair, and now you're out a whole fishing season because you trusted Simms. Companies like this that price gouge customers are headed nowhere but clearance at big box stores. Simms keeps pushing out ads and getting sponsored content but people are starting to push back and they're not going to like what they hear.

Frederick V.Mar 5, 2024

The sole on my Simms wading boots basically came loose. I sent them back hoping they'd fix it, but got them back with a letter saying the boots were too old to bother with. I've been buying Simms for over 20 years but I'm done now. They've changed into a company that doesn't care about taking care of their customers anymore.

I'd been wanting to try Simms G3 boots for a while even though I don't fish super often. The brand has such a strong reputation for quality and being a leader in the market. When I finally got them, I was excited. Then 16 months later, during my second wear, the woven material over both toes split open. I sent them back to the shop who contacted Simms. The response was disappointing. Zero respect for customers, no concern about their reputation, and no real interest in the quality issue. Their attitude basically said: "Not our problem, it's past the 12-month mark, doesn't matter that you only wore them for 7 hours total." Good customer service builds loyalty and makes people proud to recommend a brand. Bad service destroys that. Simms' dismissive approach has made me lose respect for them. I came into this willing to work with them on a fair solution, but they clearly don't value their customers. What hurts most is that I really love fishing, and their attitude has turned me into someone who'll actively warn others about their brand at every chance I get.

Bought G3 waders and right when I opened the box I noticed loose threads on the gravel guard seam that had created an actual hole. Customer service told me I'd have to pay to ship them back so they could try to fix them. These were brand new straight out of the box! That's completely unacceptable. Any respectable company would have replaced them immediately without question. Simms is just focused on taking your money, not making things right. I won't be giving them any more of my business.

Simms fishing gear has been great for me. The clothing does an excellent job keeping you dry in rainy weather. When my Bulkley Gore-tex jacket's zip pull stopped working right, I contacted them. They repaired it free of charge without any hassle. That kind of professional customer care really sets them apart.

William S.Nov 24, 2023

I'm a big fan of Simms fishing clothing. It keeps me completely dry even when I'm out in wet conditions. My Bulkley Gore-tex jacket had a broken zip pull, and I reached out to Simms about it. They fixed it at no cost to me. Really impressive customer support from a company that clearly takes pride in their work.

Vincent G.Jul 31, 2023

Ordered G3 waders online from a dealer using Simms' size chart. Turns out they ran too big for me. Asked the dealer to swap them for a smaller pair but they didn't have that size in stock anymore. So I called Simms to see if they could help with an exchange. They refused, saying they don't exchange products that weren't purchased directly from them. Brand new with the tags still on, and Simms wouldn't help me out. That's the last time I'm buying their products.

Raymond M.Feb 14, 2023

After using my Simms G3 wading boots hard for 3 seasons, the rubber panel on the heel started peeling away from the Vibram sole. I shipped them to Simms expecting I'd have to pay for repairs. They surprised me by fixing them completely free. That was totally unexpected, especially with how much wear those boots had taken and considering it was almost three years after I bought them. Their customer service really stood out to me in a positive way and I've kept buying their products ever since.
