Whole Foods Market Reviews
Whole Foods Market receives highly polarized feedback from shoppers, with reviews split dramatically between one-star and five-star ratings. Shoppers who rate the store negatively cite significant concerns about produce quality and pricing, with complaints about chemical coatings on organic items, deteriorating prepared foods and salad bars, understocked shelves, incomplete delivery orders, and inconsistent customer service. Several reviewers report that specific locations fall short of expected Whole Foods standards, with poor staffing levels and bare shelves in refrigerated sections. In contrast, the five-star reviews highlight exceptional customer service experiences, with at least one shopper praising outstanding product knowledge and craftsmanship in the fish department.
The stark divide in ratings suggests that Whole Foods experiences significant quality and service inconsistencies across locations and departments. While some shoppers have positive interactions with knowledgeable staff members, others report frustration with product availability, quality concerns about organic offerings, and challenges with delivery fulfillment and customer service responsiveness. Price concerns also emerge as a recurring theme among dissatisfied reviewers, who note that costs have increased while quality appears to have declined.
Whole Foods used to be my go-to store with fair prices and genuinely tasty produce. These days though, everything costs way more and their organic fruits taste off, like there's something chemical in them. Their organic apples are really unpleasant to eat anymore. It seems like they're allowing some kind of chemical coating like Apeel or similar treatments on their produce that just doesn't sit right with me.
I've never seen Whole Foods with such poor quality fresh items. Their salad bar is disappointing, the prepared foods section is the worst it's ever been, and the alternative dairy selection has really gone downhill. Seems like they've brought on a lot of new staff that still needs training.
My delivery order arrived incomplete. When I called the store, they wouldn't take responsibility and just gave me a customer service number to call. I got bounced around to several people who kept lying about what happened with my order, saying they were out of stock on things like fruit and frozen goods that should always be available. Since I'm disabled, I couldn't go pick things up myself. After telling them they lost my business, I sent an email to corporate that I still haven't heard back about. The whole situation was a nightmare and now I'm shopping elsewhere. The real kicker is waiting 7 to 10 business days for a refund.
The location on Broad Street in New Orleans is honestly the worst Whole Foods I've ever been to. Walking in, it just didn't feel like a Whole Foods at all. The shelves were barely stocked and lots of them were completely empty, including the refrigerated section. They didn't even start assembling the salad bar until past 11 in the morning, and the hot bar didn't begin until 11:15. By then the food was barely warm, which is awful timing since that's when people usually take lunch. The employee who brought out the hot items just left before finishing and didn't even set out serving utensils. I overheard him making inappropriate comments to another staff member about the work situation.
I went to Whole Foods hoping to catch a movie at their in-store theater, but Hayden told me the cost would be way too much for just a film. All I wanted to do was grab some pillow spray and park for free while I was there. Pretty disappointing experience.
Sheldon just started in the fish section and he's truly wonderful. Not only is he super friendly, but his technical skills are outstanding. I've never watched someone at Whole Foods clean and cut fish with such expertise and care. The precision he brings to butterflying and preparing fish is really something special. I'm actually making more trips to the store now because of him. Whole Foods is fortunate to have someone this talented on their team.
There's this new guy named Sheldon working in the fish department and he's fantastic. He's genuinely nice and his skills are incredible to watch. The way he cuts and cleans fish is honestly the best I've seen at any Whole Foods location. His precision when butterflying or preparing fish is just on another level. I find myself going to the store more often now just because of him. Whole Foods is really lucky to have such a talented employee.
I'm giving one star because of the employee working the Amazon returns desk. His unprofessional and dismissive attitude really let us down. He made mistakes handling our returns, which forced us to dispute the charges with our credit card company. When my wife came back to ask for help resolving it, he completely refused to assist and was quite rude about it.
I've been a loyal Whole Foods customer for over 20 years, even driving from other cities before I moved. Now I live close to one and shop there regularly, spending hundreds each month. Last night I tried to buy wine and the cashier asked for my ID. I showed my expired driver's license along with my temporary paper one from the DMV showing my license had just expired and my age. I'm 61 and clearly not underage. The manager refused to accept either document as valid according to store policy. They wouldn't budge even though both are legitimate government-issued forms. After that kind of treatment, I'm done shopping there. I won't support a business that embarrasses customers over perfectly acceptable ID and applies such rigid policies.
I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with Whole Foods. Though I will mention that the locations in England could definitely benefit from learning some lessons from how things are run here.
I've been shopping at Whole Foods for over 15 years and I'm truly grateful for what they've built. The quality of their produce has been consistently great since they first opened here in DC. Even during the tough pandemic times, they did an excellent job keeping the shelves stocked nationwide. I'd love to see them bring back their bakery section to what it once was. I used to work there myself and found the company to be straightforward and professional. The delivery service has been a lifesaver now that I'm older and have mobility issues. Their ordering system is simple and the deliveries are reliable.
Just want to give a shout out to the amazing team at the South Washington location in Denver. Kristen and Nelson really went above and beyond helping me after I messed up my Amazon return. They stayed patient and kind while fixing my mistake. Thanks so much to both of them for being so helpful.
This is a great place! I get flowers from here every week and the arrangements are absolutely stunning.
I'm a big fan of Whole Foods Market because they have such an impressive selection of quality products all in one place. I'm thrilled they expanded across the ocean to serve customers in London, and I hope some other great brands follow their example. It would be fantastic to see more premium product lines become available in the UK market.
I've had an excellent experience with this store and their selection of whole and organic products. As a vegetarian for three decades, I really appreciate the variety and quality of fresh, healthy options they offer. The salad bar at their Santa Fe location is fantastic with lots of nutritious choices. Both their Santa Fe and Albuquerque stores have outstanding selections. In all my years shopping here for food, supplements, and health products, I've never had any issues like illness, stomach problems, or any negative reactions. I can't say that about every grocery store or pharmacy I've used. I'd absolutely recommend them to anyone who wants to shop somewhere that takes food safety and quality seriously.
