Plex Reviews
Plex is rated 1.8 out of 5 by 19 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing significant dissatisfaction. The primary complaints center on aggressive advertising (frequent, repetitive ads lasting several minutes), poor search functionality where requested content does not appear, a confusing interface that is difficult to navigate, and aggressive upselling tactics that prompt users to upgrade to a paid plan. Several reviewers also object to recent price increases for the Plex Pass subscription, citing what they perceive as predatory pricing practices. A small minority of shoppers give positive ratings, suggesting some users find value in the platform, but their feedback is vastly outweighed by negative experiences.
Key issues preventing regular use include the ad interruption frequency (ads reported every 10 minutes), page reload loops designed to encourage paid upgrades, and a content search system that fails to deliver results. The interface is described as overwhelming and poorly organized despite claims of offering 600 live channels. Shoppers report deleting accounts and switching to competitor services due to these frustrations. The overall sentiment indicates that Plex's free tier experience falls significantly short of user expectations and competitor offerings.
Nothing I search for shows up, old or new. The wishlist feature doesn't help at all. I ended up deleting my account because the whole platform is just garbage.
First time checking out Plex and I'm really let down. Every 10 minutes these ads pop up for about 2 and a half minutes, and it's the same ones over and over. Super annoying. I'm not coming back. Tubi gives you a way better experience with just one short ad. Done with Plex.
Made an account thinking I could watch movies with ads instead of paying. Every time I hit watch, the page reloads and forces me to upgrade to avoid ads. No way I'm dropping 60 bucks a month to watch something with commercials anyway. This company seems fake and shady.
When you open up the listings, it's just confusing with no clear way to navigate to what you want to watch. They mention having 600 live channels in their promotional videos, but honestly, even 60 channels would be too much to deal with. This interface is a mess.
They jacked up the Plex Pass price by three times in 2026 while claiming they sent an email in March 2025. They're banking on slipping it past you without you noticing. This is straight up predatory. Steer clear.
They tripled the Plex Pass price in 2026 and their excuse is that they sent an email back in March 2025. They're basically counting on people not noticing. That's seriously predatory. Avoid this.
Why would you launch a streaming service in Italy with movies only in English? You might as well shut it down. I already uninstalled the app. If I could rate it lower I would. Just close shop.
I'd give this a worse rating if I could. I signed up thinking it was truly free streaming, but then they tried to charge my card almost 50 dollars. Then a dollar. Then they kept attempting to charge it 50 dollars multiple times under different names. I had to cancel my whole card. They say they won't charge you but that's just to open an account. Never trusting this service again and I'm warning everyone I know.
I put this on my Firestick to catch "A Stone Cold Christmas," one of my go-to holiday flicks. Hard to find anywhere, but Plex had it. Started fine but cut off during the last half hour, which is literally the best part. Pretty disappointed since this was my first time using the app.
The new Roku app is terrible. What was working fine before got completely redesigned and it's full of bugs. Even if those get fixed, navigating it is a nightmare. Everything takes way more clicks now. Used to be 1 or 2 clicks, now it's 8 or 10. The side navigation disappeared and they replaced it with a top menu that's much harder to use. You can't access it from anywhere anymore, you have to go back to the main screen. The whole experience got ruined. Looking at Ember and Jellyfin instead.
Setting up an account was easy, but that's seriously the only good thing about this. There are some decent older titles available, sure, but the ads are way too much. They're constantly popping up and they last forever compared to the actual content. We made it through two thirds of an episode with multiple long ad breaks, then the rest disappeared. Not coming back.
The movie selection isn't great and during a 156 minute film I counted 9 commercial breaks that added up to almost 23 minutes total. The ads are out of control. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone except maybe someone I really disliked.
This is greed on another level. Now you have to pay just to stream stuff from your own personal server directly to your browser. That's absurd. Switching to Jellyfin immediately.
Save yourself the trouble and skip this site. Claims to have free movies but what you get is ancient stuff from other countries with way too many ads squeezed in. Seven commercials every 9 minutes. Not worth your time.
This gets worse the more you try to use it. Streaming from your own server costs extra. Decent subtitle syncing? That's premium. Want to watch with friends at the same time? That used to exist but they killed it. They've stripped away everything that made this good and now they're charging for features that used to be standard. Oh, and they more than doubled the price right before announcing the changes. So you're looking at spending 250 bucks to use your own server with your own files. Pretty disappointing for the rest of us.
