The Topps Company Reviews
The Topps Company is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 19 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing significant dissatisfaction. Reviewers report persistent issues with product availability (products sell out quickly with limited stock for general collectors), quality control problems (scratches and defects on cards), and slow or unresponsive customer service when filing claims or requesting replacements. Many shoppers also complain about high resale markups, website technical glitches during product releases, and a perceived shift toward favoring certain buyers or resellers over regular collectors.
A small portion of reviewers gave higher ratings, but the overwhelming consensus reflects frustration with the purchasing experience, product quality, and company responsiveness. Common complaints center on feeling that customers are overcharged for substandard products, that claims processes are ineffective or ignored, and that the company prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction. Several shoppers mention deterioration in service quality following recent ownership changes.
Topps is a total ripoff scheme. Regular collectors like me can never snag their premium products when they release. Instead they want us to pay crazy resale markups that are like four times the actual price. They save all the good stuff for those sketchy breakers so they can boost profits. Young kids don't stand a chance getting into this hobby with Topps and Fanatics controlling the licenses. I'm pretty much done with the whole thing at this point. These companies are going to tank the hobby for good.
Topps is honestly laughable. I filed a claim for defects on a full hobby box over 3 months back and still nothing. I'm way past when they said they'd handle it and they still haven't done a thing. Their excuse? They're swamped. Funny how they weren't too busy cashing my check though. Their quality control is basically non-existent and it feels like they're just taking people's money.
Once Fanatics got control, this place turned into a disaster. The customer service reps don't speak English well, their practices are sketchy, and honestly it feels like theft is part of their business model now.
Dropped almost 70 bucks on a baseball card box. Pulled something valuable but it was completely messed up with scratches everywhere. Sent it back to them for a replacement but they refused. Said it wasn't damaged. But it was covered in scratches from top to bottom.
You're paying premium prices but not getting premium quality in return. Their Cosmic line is garbage and the Chrome Black is somehow even worse. The player selection makes you think only their family members know who these people are. You basically have to search everyone on Google.
Tried getting a box for my son but their site wouldn't cooperate. There was even a notice saying they knew about the technical problems. Then eventually the site started working again but everything was already gone. All they could tell me was "we're sorry."
Really happy with the quality of the cards and how fast they arrived. Got them quicker than the estimated delivery date.
The cards themselves are excellent quality and the customer service team was really helpful. My order showed up faster than expected too.
This is a scam outfit. They've robbed people of their money and cards. Don't give these greedy con artists your business.
Bought a card on their site in mid-November 2024. Three weeks go by with nothing, so I call to check what's happening. Getting through to an actual person was a nightmare. When I finally did, the rep told me it wouldn't ship until late May or early June of next year, somewhere between 80-100 days. I was stunned. For a 250 dollar card, I was expecting it much sooner. That's clearly not happening. Topps used to be solid, but they've fallen off a cliff. The current management is the worst I've seen in this business. I'm hoping either they get new leadership or shut down completely. They've been cheating customers for way too long and deserve serious consequences.
Terrible customer service. They shipped me something completely different and way cheaper than what I paid for half a year ago. Getting responses took forever and they never offered me anything to make it right. Just don't bother with them. They won't even respond to your messages and if they eventually do, you'll be waiting months.
Topps Now is an absolute joke and not worth the money. You'd be better off spending your dollar on a lottery ticket. Won't be ordering from them anymore.
Topps Now is completely ridiculous and a total rip-off. You'd get better odds throwing a dollar at a lottery machine. I won't be ordering from them again.
Total ripoff artists. They slap you with over 80 bucks in shipping and then you get hit with duty charges on top of that. Pure scam.
The actual cards are fine enough. Dealing directly with the company? That's where things fall apart. Ordered the Olympics Lebron/Curry/Durant Topps Now card in mid-August. It was supposed to arrive within 7-10 business days after the sales window ended. A week passes and suddenly they're saying 10-13 business days. Then early September rolls around and I get a message saying it'll ship by the 5th. Nope. Night of the 5th brings another email saying it's delayed and won't ship until late September. One hold-up, maybe two, is understandable. But constantly breaking promises and missing dates? That's what I'd expect from some startup that's in over their head, not an established company. I'm pretty much done with my Topps account after this order wraps up. Update: Got an email hours after my review saying the item shipped. That would be great news except Topps is randomly throwing short prints into orders, so some people get bonus high-value cards. The fact that I got the shipping notification right after posting this makes me wonder if they individually shipped my order as a goodwill gesture.
